About the Costco is communist bit at 11:15 there is a book about that exact thing called "The People's Republic of Walmart: How the World's Biggest Corporations are Laying the Foundation for Socialism"
@AcceptTheNull9 ай бұрын
Walmart abusing welfare by paying people only so little as to qualify for assistance is not the same as buying a single product at cheaper cost because you bought more upfront, by committing to purchasing only that one said product, known also as capitalism.
@CitizenVan9 ай бұрын
@@AcceptTheNull Haven't read the book, but from what I've heard people say about it, it's not saying "Walmart has cheap products, therefore socialism." It's more about how Walmart is an example of large scale central planning and how free-market capitalism is actually inefficient in many ways compared to a planned economy. I would assume that Costco, being another multinational corporation, probably does similar things to Walmart in this respect. Both corporations are capitalist obviously, but the book apparantely argues that if central planning can work for these corporations, then it can work for socialism or whatever. idk, ask someone's who's read it.
@cdw24689 ай бұрын
@@CitizenVanthat’s exactly the point. it actually brings up sears as a company that encouraged internal competition and failed because of it. even if you’re not a socialist (i am one) i think it’s an interesting read

@@CitizenVan also, Walmart would rank 25 in GDP if compared to actual countries. It's that massive. Bigger GDP than Norway, Ireland, Austria, and, well, the remaining >150 countries.

I only recently started watching NL and I don't understand the slang he uses. I am familiar with it, however the implied meanings seem different to what I am used to. For example, i thought "No disrespect, but..." is used when you want to politely disagree with someone, but when NL says "No disrespect, but...", it roughly translates to "Fuck you and everything you stand for bitch get owned." Is this just an NL thing or is this a Canadian thing?
@gdjobufckngfruitcake9 ай бұрын
It’s an NL thing. He also uses a lot of sarcasm so there’s an adjustment period of “Is he being serious or is it a meme” @Librarian we could use a “times I thought NL was being serious but it was just sarcasm Ryan in a 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 good disguise”
@imaplague9 ай бұрын
typically it is, however he uses it that way as a comedic thing of going against the typical usage kinda like hyperbole
@_Sean.9 ай бұрын
Typically it depends on who you're talking to and what context you're using it in. If I'm talking to my friends and we're trash talking, and I say "No disrespect, but..." then yeah it means the latter. But if I'm talking to someone I only know a little and I want to disagree then it would mean the former. (I'm also western Canadian, like NL)

49:00 i was curious what the difference was between the spindown and a normal d20. it seems like a spindown is easier to cheat with, as there's a whole side that has the large numbers. theoretically you can try to toss the die to land on one plane with those numbers over the other. i kinda get it; if you're at a fnm where you gotta pay and hopefully win, i'd want it to be as competitive as possible, especially if the options there. but in a casual settings, it doesn't really matter as long as you give it a good shake and toss. and even then, it appears that many d20s aren't numerically random as well. depending on manufacturing, the grooves of the numbers on the die can affect the weight, as well as air bubbles and the like. ideally you'd have each of the faces that meet at a vertex to add up to 52/53 for it to be as close to random as possible. maybe i'm one of those nerds...
