What Habib is saying is not true. shops in downtown are not closed because they're expensive. There are lots of more expensive places outside of downtown that are packed with people everyday. Downtown is closed because all the violent protests happen there, the area around the parliament is always militarily closed.

watching this episode from 2018, I feel even more worried and sad for the destruction of this city, these regular people like myself trying to live in my city in Canada. In 2020, the city suffered and was trying to recover from the grain elevator explosion and now Beirut is being invaded and destroyed by Israel with no regard for anyone or anything. I hope these people that were trying to improve their city and lives for years are still safe and when the war stops they will be ready to rebuild or make the hard choice to leave Lebanon.

The bankruptcy he’s habib is talking about is due to our politicians stealing and not the debt. All these “closed” stores where full of people and i grew up playing my scooter there. Economy was going up and we could have closed out debt easily
