Dont leave adapters in your fuel system like he did between the tank and UAT. No need to use bolts and blind nuts to mount the motor. Never use Tygon anywhere except for the fill line.

But also running the receiver and all electronics on a small 2s 2700mah is works for less draw off the two flight packs , I do that on just about all my jets , you will be able to see better comfortable flight times . ✌

Generally speaking, Festo fittings don’t seal very well in suction/vacuum, hence, no devices/fittings at all between the UAT and fuel pump. Also, any kind of restriction before the fuel pump, can cause cavitation/bubbles .. and no Festos used going to the fuel tank.

Jonathan. Question, please. I have had numerous discussions on the location of the filter and the on/off valve in the fuel system. Many different POVs, so I thought I'd go to your videos and get your process and thoughts. I see in the building example that early on in the video, you have a pump-filter-valve-turbine, and then later in the drawing, you have a pump-valve-filter-turbine setup. Does it matter? If so, what is your recommendation? Also, some people put the valve before the pump, saying it can stop a runaway pump, but I never do that. Just curious. As always, the guidance is greatly respected and appreciated.
@thelightersideofrc10 ай бұрын
Hey Chip. Ultimatley follow the Manufactures recomendation. BUT. Valve always after fuel pump. Filter always after fuel pump and typically after valve. I like to have zero breaks in the line feeding the fuel pump and keep it as short as possible.

Hi Question After I start my model plane and run it for about 5 min I see the RPM slowly going down. As I increase throttle it picks up more rpm but. At that given throttle it continues to slowly drop in rpm until it goes to less than ideal. I changed the pump but I still see this. It works a few minutes fine even goes to max but it starts to slowly drops at about 20k rpm a min I even changed the engine and I still see this after some time of usage I would really appreciate any insight
@thelightersideofrc Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. Pretty tough to diagnose over written word. What engine? Sounds like it's a hardware problem. If the fuel pump is pumping in fuel that is what controls RPM. If RPM is dropping than fuel supply sounds like it's being reduced. Sounds like it needs to go in for service or go back to manufacture.

Is that the same jet I was allowed to fly in Sept ? Wow it will be a power house with that new engine. Thanks, Jonathan this will help me with setting up my Viper. In the Carf manual, they suggest having the fuel filter placement vertically, to prevent any bubbles being trap inside of the filter on the high side of the filter when it's laying horizontial. Interesting about adjusting the pump pressure for a smooth operting engine.
@russellvoth51614 жыл бұрын
Is that a 3D printed valve holder? Nice.
@thelightersideofrc4 жыл бұрын
Hey Russell. Yea that's the same Jet. It will be much more fun with this new engine! I have never found the fuel filter position to be of concern. At full throttle there is so much movement through the filter that any air bubbles get sucked through. Yea that's a 3D printed Valve Holder! My buddy JOE does my printing for me.

Another great video. One question, I take it the gap between the turbine intake/FOD screen to the intake ducting is not critical?
@thelightersideofrc4 жыл бұрын
Hey Ian. Thanks! The intake side is not a concern except making sure that the turbine can get enough air. This would be based on intake design and other air intake points.

Looks like you want to do more repairs on that when it flames out with that tygon between the tank and UAT, and the adapter in between. Also, there is no reason to to use bolts and blind nuts to hold the turbine in. And don't mess with the serttings unless you are on the phone with a Kingtech rep that tells you to. Kinda setting people up for failure here.
@thelightersideofrc4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input. 1. They Tygon between the UAT and tank is perfectly acceptable. now if we started to get into a 200 series engine and above I might be concerned but then we would be using a High Flow UAT anyways so it would be all 8mm line and high flow fittings in the tank. I agree with you 100% on the blind nuts for holding the turbine in. i'm not a fan. If you watch the video, the mounting plates/risers are held in with blind nuts as that is what was originally installed so why not use it to hold in the risers as it's already there. The new turbine that the owner purchased is now installed with good old fashioned wood screws. Regarding the pump power setting that I changed, it's listed right in the manual how to adjust it. It "should" be adjusted as every installation will be different and the amount of resistance will be different. Thanks for editing your comment and thanks for watching!😎
