Jill Jackson - Born Too Late (1965)

B-side of "Here Comes The Night", released as a single in April 1965. Jill was Paula in the singing duo Paul and Paula. This song was a hit for the Poni-Tails in 1958. Also recorded by the Shannons. I've also posted those versions. Produced by Dick And Dee Dee. Written by Charles Strouse & Frederick Tobias. Transcribed from my original copy of the 45, which I bought for this song.

Paula was Jill Jackson, now Jill Jackson Landowl (sp); Paul's real name is Ray Hildebrand. Check out his website. The producer of HEY PAULA suggested they change their names to Paul and Paula, since it didn't make sense for them to be singing hey Paula/hey Paul I wanna marry you when their names were Jill and Ray.

Yes, when Paul and Paula broke up, Jill attempted a solo career. She also recorded Dusty Springfield's "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself", as well as others for Reprise Records.

@FoxRunMan Yes, Jill Jackson did several solo recordings under her own name (Jill Jackson). I have a few on Reprise records. She also did BOBBY IS THE ONE which was the flip side of HEY PAULA on Phillips records.

No Paul was Ray Hildebrand he wrote Hey Paula for his friend who's GF was named Paula & was going home on college break for 3 mths & was hoping the song would help her stay connected to him while apart! Jill (Paula) & Ray (Paul) were good friends but never sweethearts
