3:15 For speaking practice if you don't have native speakers around you, I would highly recommend the tandem app where you can message and video call them. I would also recommend finding a discord server for that language so that you can't interact with many people on a regular basis. I like it more because it's more like a town square, you log on and talk to whoever's online at the moment.

Nice video, but I watched it mainly to find out some new French slang, and the video stopped just as they were going to test you on it! Is there a sequel?

I've been living abroad for more than ten years and must say that street French language seems to go really crazy, so many english, arab, african, romanian words are used nowadays by some young people, verlan (syllables inverted words), abreviated words and so on. Two years ago there was this song from Aya Nakamura that even most of the young people couldn't fully clearly understand but sing along even though. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4GqmKGwmJhnqrs

Just saw your Wikitongues video. First of all, given that channel's international audience, it's surprising how you had the chance to say a small sample of all your languages but only shared 7, calling into question how well you really speak the other 13 languages you claim to know. Also why do you care so much about the number of speakers? It doesn't actually matter. Go to pretty any country and there are more speakers of thir language than any other country in the world, maybe except English. That said, staying in touch with even a few speakers and getting to know them is better than one-time encounters, and you seem better at the latter because when you meet someone for the first time, what are you supposed to talk about? Language learning? What if they're not interested? No matter how many languages you speak, most people won't want to remain in contact if it's clear you have nothing else worth sharing in your life or if you have no manners and habitually interrupt someone mid-sentence.

It's nothing more silly when a foreigner tries to use slang actively. it's ok to know some common street slang, but please never try to use it yourself. Even with a C1 language knowledge in most times it's only silly.
@Gabriel59559594 жыл бұрын
If you use it because you had enough contact with it that it became natural, what's the problem with it? English is my 2nd language and I use slang in a natural manner and not even being aware that I'm using it.
