I think it would benefit you to spend some time in other areas of the country & to talk to people of varying ages if you're going to analyze peoples' statements. More than once I've heard you comment on how suspicious something sounds although it's just a "southernism" or turn of phrase that you're not familiar with. I just think that it would give you more credibility if you'd run it by someone before recording. Not trying to be mean - just helpful.

“Put the dogs up” doesn’t necessarily have to mean “put the dogs in the room above the garage”; when I was growing up “put the dog up” meant “put the dog in his kennel” which was in my parents’ bedroom. edited to add: I grew up in Georgia and the Midwest, so it may be a regional thing.

To answer why the police haven't called the stepfather out on his inconsistencies. In cases where the police have a strong reason to suspect someone they often withhold their suspicion publicly and from said person while gathering the necessary evidence. This cultivates a false sense of comfort in the person and encourages them to do things like grant interviews to the media. That way, when the police are prepared to show their hand, they'll be laying out the physical evidence to a person who's voluntarily talked themselves into an inescapable corner. Half the leg work is potentially done, and the suspect's earlier confidence is torn away to such a degree that they're much more likely to panic during the interrogation.

I just thought if they could scare the heck out of her she might start talking. I realize there are a lot of comments here to read, but some people are commenting from the area. Saying - Why was Sebastian taking out the garbage with a flashlight - they happen to know where all the light switches in the house are - including the ones that light up the outside...and why were exterior light bulbs removed...etc. etc. I just thought if some MORE pressure was applied to the mother - the truth might be forthcoming.

as an autistic woman, i think it’s entirely possible that katie, herself, is on the spectrum. it’s a heritable disorder and all too frequently overlooked in women. i wasn’t diagnosed until i was 28. the rocking back and forth, the lack of eye contact, and the seemingly inappropriate emotions displayed during their interviews are all symptoms of autism. i’m not saying that this necessarily absolves her of any involvement in sebastian’s disappearance, but details like this may seem suspicious to people folks who don’t have experience interacting with autistic women. allistic women typically do not mask in social situations, so when autistic women do, we can be seen as having something to hide. that said, this case IS suspicious af. i don’t trust chris at all, and the withholding of certain details about sebastian’s care on katie’s end is… concerning to say the least.

Yeah, I came to the comments to say the same thing. It doesn't absolve her of possible involvement, but the lack of eye contact on her part doesn't strike me as suspicious, and some of the weirder comments she makes strike me as just not communicating well under pressure. It would also make her more of a target for an abuser.

Agreed. My sister is autistic and most people have no clue when meeting her unless they're also related to someone with autism or if they are working in a field that helps those sorts of children. My sister is an adult and still slips up every once in a while and says something hurtful without realizing it. She will say something like 'Wow you really missed out on a great party' when I wasn't even invited to it lol. She doesn't get how to be mean purposefully, she's never been vindictive or a bully like a lot of women can be, so I know that its something to do with her communication getting a bit mixed up and not anything untoward. She was also one to stay in a relationship with a very abusive boyfriend for a long time, and I remember many conversations with her explaining that the things he was doing were not mistakes or misunderstandings, that he was being purposefully manipulative. Like you said, that doesn't absolve the mother in this case of responsibility or that she's not being dodgy and lying, but I just wanted to explain to another angle regarding the thought process or habits of an autistic relative.
@Lusa_Iceheart
@Lusa_Iceheart 4 ай бұрын
Yeah, these were my thoughts exactly. Her mannerisms were very similar to how autism often presents in women. She's late 40s if I were to guess, so she never would have been tested as a young adult, no one really knew about Autism back when she was young. Detecting it in women is already harder, and people tend to get better at masking it as they get older. It's pretty surprising for a lot of people to find out that their "weird aunt alice" or whatever is autistic. Before the last 20 years or so, it was just the "weird" relative. There's a whole mess of misconceptions that autism is some new thing, nah it's only in recent years that we have a word for this conditions that's probably always been around. There's still so much we don't understand about how human brains work, we really are only in the early days of mental health.

Honestly, I think going missing without shoes is weird for anyone. If someone is going to walk anywhere outside their own front yard, they put shoes on. Even if they're only planning to walk half a block to the mailbox, they wear shoes. If all his shoes are still there, then he went missing from either the house or the yard.

It makes me think the dogs were in a kennel overnight, an indoor pen or something like that. Maybe the dogs were inside but contained to an area that he would pass on the way to the kitchen and would have to shush them on the way to the kitchen. Anyway the stepdad is hiding something and strikes me as the type of person who would lie even if he didn’t need to.

I am autistic too, and I loved knowing about your little brother. Also, yes, everything you said about his medication and his genuinely not knowing why he was being "punished" resonates a lot with myself and other people on the spectrum that I know. Which, coupled with him being barefoot... I just *know* he didn't leave on his own. There is no other way an autistic teenager (one who appears to not present any intellectual difficulties) would leave his routine, medication, safety, belongings, dogs - all of these behind knowingly. Even if he was running away from home to be away from Chris, as some people are theorizing, he wouldn't leave without his shoes, meds, and some food and clothes. We, on the spectrum, plan for many different situations. He would have taken the essential stuff with him. On a more positive note, I love the passion you show on your videos, and it's showing even more on this case. In my experience, people are often dismissive when it comes to autistic individuals who are no longer small children. It's usually "oh, he ran away, he'll come back soon/we'll find him easily". Of course, being a fan of the Lodge for about two years now, I'd never expect you to act dismissive towards any cases - still, I admire you so much for being so genuinely invested in this. Thank you so much for it - I say it both as a fan and as part of the autistic community.

Autistic person here, I think what the step dad was saying about the "he didn't have a belt" thing, was probably that Sebastian usually had a belt on, and he was reaching for that to hit him with, but he didn't have one in so he used his own belt. That says to me, that Sebastian usually wore a belt and for some reason he had stopped wearing one. If I had to guess, Chris was probably hitting Sebastian with Sebastian's own belt on multiple occasions, and Sebastian's thought process was that if he stopped wearing the belt, he wouldn't get hit. When I was younger I'd use this exact reasoning to avoid uncomfortable situations, and I don't see another reason why Sebastian would stop wearing something like a belt that is usually an every day item, especially for someone who dresses with routine in mind.

I've barely started this video so if my comment becomes irrelevant I'm sorry, but the thing that got me most about the mom and stepdad is that whenever the family members spend a significant amount of their airtime talking about "rumors" and "hate online" that they are receiving it feels like they have something to hide. Letecia Stauch comes to mind.

I'm autistic and I know I could not go out of the house without shoes because the stones would hurt. I know I couldn't make it far on foot at all even in socks. I would also struggle without my medication for any prolonged period (a week or longer) and the idea of being without causes me to be incredibly anxious. If someone punished me without explaining why (which has happened before) it would cause me to resent that person and want to stay away from them at all costs. Just a little insight into this case, maybe it's useful maybe it's not. Either way, hope he's found so he can at least see justice if not be reunited with loved ones

How would a temporary visit with Seth change that? After that temporary visit the child would be returning home which is what Chris didn't want and what the statement "either he goes or I go means" that means permanently. The fact I had to spell that out is sad. I still don't get how you didn't understand that.

It's not the autism that would have prompted KP to check on Sebastian after the alleged thud. It was his vulnerability due to fluid on his brain. He wasn't allowed to play sports because of this. He also has 6q27 chromosomal deletion syndrome, which caused him seizures. Now, he'd mostly outgrown the seizures, but still. History of seizures, risk of death from hitting from his head. I believe the thud was mentioned later on as a preemptive detail they hadn't thought of yet. I'll bet he's found with a head injury.

My son has a severe life threatening seizure disorder, to the point he cannot live alone. He's 27 years old and if I hear any significant bump or thumps from his room, I check on him every time! I believe ANY caring responsible parent would do the same and the fact that she did not speaks volumes to me. Either it didn't actually happen or she was not providing her child with appropriate supervision relative to his medical conditions.

Funny how Chris didn't mention anything around the noise coming from Sebastians room at 10 while he was on the phone. Katie told a neighbor Sebastian was still up at 11.30pm and this was consistent with neighbors seeing lights going off and on. That very first interview, my instincts told me the couple had been fighting just prior. Turns out the marriage has been on the rocks for months bc Chris didn't want Sebastian in the home any longer. Katie agreed for her son to go live with Seth. I think she changed her mind. Suddenly, their relationship is in great shape after the disappearance. That makes no sense. Now you've spoken out so candidly, please report any threats you may now have (to LE), having opened yourself up. Well done!

I don’t think they offed him, even though Katie doesn’t seem to be the best mom. With Chris’s parents wealth and connections, could it be possible they took him to a home somewhere secluded, possibly in Canada? They they wouldn’t have to deal with Sebastian near Faith every other weekend or Seth, who they despise. There’s some weird phrasing and looks from Chris and Katie, plus his parent’s trip to Alaska, which makes me think it’s a possibility.
