Have you heard the tale of The Lost Narrator? I wouldn't expect you to, not many know of it. One of those stories that has been mostly lost to time and the shadows of the Everfree Forest, same as the Candy Mare, Village Of The Blanks, the Slender Pony. They say she was a pony once, wandered the lonely roads, cursing all who came across her in some stricken hope to find her beloved. Others say she was just another lost soul that lurked the shadows, hunting like any other monster. I don't know how true it is, to be honest. The specifics were lost to time well before I was born. What happened to her? I'm not sure. One day they just seemed to fade away, never spoken of again. The legend went with them, though there is a song that is sometimes sung around the campfires by the colts and fillies of Equestria. You want to hear it? These old bones aren't what they used to be, but I'm told I can still play and sing well...

I love how the idea of permanence in the lyrics, especially considering how the Lost Narrator series ended. SPOILERS AHEAD In the end, where CurseWord is somehow given a second chance with Mag, but she has to live with those haunting memories of what she had done and what was done unto her. Hence “unending days and restless nights,” and the overall title of the song “Forever Lost.” Sure, Curse was given a second chance, but, from that point on, she has to forever live with the PTSD-inducing memories of Ink Dye’s manipulation and utter torture upon Curse and Mag (psychologically and physically) how Mag used her to get back at Ink, and, of course, the many lives Curse took using her power. But, that’s just my take on it! Overall, it’s a beautiful song that, in my opinion, captures the tone of the Tale of the Lost Narrator series perfectly.
