In this weeks video we turn a dream into a reality when we create a beautiful English rose garden from scratch! Rural life.
Mother & Daughter, Gail & Alex, living in a 300-year-old country house in Scotland. This is a record of our life renovating an historic house in and using our land as a homestead to enable us to live as sustainably as we can - almost off grid!

The best part of my week are your videos, doesn’t matter which channel. Although as a woman who has taught myself to remodel homes and take on any task myself, sometimes learning the hard way 😂, I am finding The Lost tower diaries extra inspiring. Lost my farm in 2012.😢 Loved every bit of it. The rainbow was a reward for your love for Mother Earth. Saving those poppies brought me to tears. Loved the music and cinematography. Much love.

What a beautiful spot you live in the ground looks so fertile are used to plant a large vegetable garden, potatoes, corn, squash, broccoli, cauliflower tomatoes, and my wife and I can a lot of stuff potatoes. You can keep all year if you storm in a cool place my kids are grown now and my wife passed down 12 years ago, so I don’t plan a garden anymore just for one old man but I did enjoy it and the fresh vegetables with no preservatives was great. Love your show. Looking forward to seeing what Alex goes with that fireplace.❤

This film reminded me of my beloved grandmother. She had a big house and a big garden. There were flowers, fruit trees and berry bushes and a large lawn were we children and adults played boccia and had the best time ever. Thanks for bringing these memories back!!

You have such beautiful soil there. Rich dark loam. I deal with mostly orange clay. It's horrible. I love how the birds are right there helping to clean the grubs out of the ground. Amazing property.

Truly inspiring and strangely calming, I actually sighed with well being at the end helped, no doubt in part to the beautiful final music. Adore seeing the shwoos and chickens living their best lives even to annoying poor busoms ( my apologies if I have her name wrong) Watching you work so hard digging and removing huge stones brings into stark relief that I am hugely handicaped at the moment after doing my back in last week and still can barely sit or lay down at the moment. There was method in the madness of a longer stones’ running into or under the wall, helping to maintain its stability. When built as a wide, long stone wall without cement etc.
