My kids are so sweet, the thought of me getting old and/or dying makes them sad. My youngest likes to ask questions like “how old will you be when I’m ___?” If the answer is 50+ they say “Noooo. I don’t want you to get old.” I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Lol. They make my heart so full.

I relate so much to Melissa's talk on appearance and clothing. As a professional church girl lol (saved too yall, just a joke! Lol), I had one of the older women come up to me and ask, "why do you dress so old???" And that BROKE ME DOWN and I never forgot it. I didn't even realize that how I dressed was aging me. And it lead me into a "self-knowledge" and "becoming" phase where I "updated" my wardrobe and paid more attention to how I presented myself. I started to dress more for my age (not over the top or overtly sensual, just more modern/stylish) and my whole self confidence and self image has improved. The clothes transformation wasnt really the main thing, but the fact that it shed light on the inner work i had to do. I had to fully lean in to how the Lord made me and walk in confidence. This part blessed me!!

Speaking on the settling mentality: I have a friend who goes cheap in everything she does. At first, I thought she was just frugal and responsible with her finances. But then she once said to me that she doesn't like eating in nice restaurants because she feels like she doesn't belong there. It explained alot about how she maneuvers through life, even in personal relationships.

That clearance mindset is REAL! That part was for me because I recently became aware of the fact that I say "that's too expensive" way too much. Every time I say it, I accept and REINFORCE a poverty mindset. I told myself I am going to stop holding on so tightly to money and to stop saying that something is too expensive for me. Expensive is relative.

I love the old school idea of growing and glowing together. Something that is truly lost in today's generation. Yall made a pact to be there for each other through thick and thin out of love and respect for both yourselves and God. Your laughing now which is beautiful but you loved on each other through those moments which is even more beautiful. It must feel so good when you both look at each other now. I want that same feeling that's why I won't ever give up on love.
