Just picked up the Them Danny Beers last week and I am so glad I did 🤘😊 I'm an ageing skateboarder with a beat up injury-laden body who wants to get back into shape after spending a year in lockdown sitting at home, doing virtually no exercise and feeling like a fat b'stard (see Rik Mayall in Bottom) because of it. I did blade for fitness back in the day, which ironically I'm probably more of a natural at than I ever was at skateboarding, and blading is just less taxing on the body at this point! I'm looking forward to learning a whole load of new tricks - just feeling out backslide Royales at the moment - and skating my DB 909s through the streets and just enjoying the feeling, the freedom and of course getting fit again. I got the DBs after going for the USD Aeon 80s and having real trouble with the fit around the ankle and the height of the toe box... I liked the look of the DBs with the clear shell and of course they come with the Intuition liner AND they have good reviews so it was a no brainer really. They fit great and I have no more ankle pain so all good. I picked up an extra Ground Control HD 72mm frame at the same time so I can switch between more trick focused park skating and fitness focused street skating. I had NO idea who Danny Beer was in terms of his skating until I watched this video so this is the icing on the cake really... I love that creative approach to skating whether it's board or blades so this makes the DBs all the better... I'm glad to support someone with such a creative and fun approach (he's like the Andy Anderson of blading haha) and also a skater run company in Them. I also grew up in a French speaking country so there's a bit bias in there too 😄 Shoutout to my skate homie Peter who's an awesome skater in his own right and is the reason I bought the Them 909 DBs and decided to get into aggressive skating properly, and of course the KZbinr skaters who I've been watching over the years - Back To Blading, Bill Stoppard and his Assault Skating, B-Free, Mushroom Blading and Rollerblade's Greg Mirzoyan. Skate for fun!!! Peace! ✌😊

@Boyish 000 that's awesome dude... yeah blading is a lot of fun for sure... and such a nice way to get around as well cos it's so flowy. Looking forward to getting over to Barcelona at some point and just crusing around enjoying the vibes... meantime I have to up my Yoga practice so I can get my range of movement and flexibility up again. The hardest part for me right now is that while I can skate my 909s pretty well outside of doing grinds and slides, my body just doesn't have the fitness level to allow me to skate to my ability if you know what I mean... kind of like trying to ride a bike with flat tyres lol 😅

@Inline History it takes a lot more athleticism than some people realise to do some of this stuff. Like the backwards cess slide with his toes pointing inwards to each other. Also the jumps to rocket off pretty much nothing. I'm not the biggest fan of watching this kind of skating, but I can appreciate it.

@Boyish0003 жыл бұрын
It's funny skateboarding went through this already years ago where people were giving shit to those thinking outside the box. Now it's super cool to see something fresh. Hucking is still alive but it's getting more fun than it was in early 2000s. Now i'm seeing a Pro rollerblader be self expressive and really be his own and the same hate I've seen within skateboarding against just having fun is happening here. Crazy.
