I bought a laser cutter a while back, and made a formula about how much I need to bill out my laser time at for my laser to pay for itself and replace itself within a reasonable time frame. It helps price my stuff too, because I don't want to lose money by selling something too cheap. These types of trinkets are the sweet spot for laser as well, because the short laser time intersects with the perceived value meaning I can charge what it's worth. There are tons of projects that are fun to make but will never be profitable because the laser time and labour make the cost prohibitive meaning people won't spend what they're actually worth.

Racing to get my diy plasma table up and running before the season really starts. Resulted to outsourcing and getting some holiday items laser cut to have some inventory with still a decent margin left. I agree a plasma table isn't a money printer but it can make a decent amount of it if you put time and effort into it.

Nice, Thanks for the tip on the water spots, I have bought a couple of files from etsy and some have been fantastic others have been full of problems.. I learned how to create my own files using several different programs depending on what I'm looking to make, but there is definitely a feeling of triumph when you can save time/money buying a good file. Happy Holidays from T-Town Welding and Fabrication, Tehachapi, California.

Hey Tay, because of this video, i joined that facebook group and bought Chase’s files to make a bunch of these trees to give away for a young ladies school music program fundraiser. Just wanted to let you know, if you 180 every other row, you can utilize WAY more of your sheet! I got 32 out of a 4x8 sheet… if i could post a pic I would! I will have a video of it out on my channel at some point…

I see you are running an omic tip on your plasma torch. Do you have any trouble with the water messing with the sensor?
@LiftArcStudios
@LiftArcStudios Жыл бұрын
Yeah, if the torch comes down near the edge of a cut or plate and the air is going, it'll sometimes splash the water up and trick the machine into thinking it's touched down already. Simply pause cutting, let the air stop, then continue

So just out of curiosity is there some type of metal planner you could run all these through instead of cleaning them up by hand? Just enough to do some or all of the clean up for you?
@robert5
@robert5 Жыл бұрын
"is there some type of metal planner you could run all these through" Get a 12" disc sander and put on a 60 grit disc. Then all you do is place each part flat against the disc and press for however long it takes, you need to test to find the right amount of time. Usually it is not long unless your disc is worn down. I use a jig and a medium power magnet to hold my parts in the middle so I put even pressure on them. It goes pretty quick.

If the chemicals are for treating your water, they are water-soluble. All you are doing is re-dissolving the crystals that formed when the chemicals dried on the metal. Plain water will probably work just as well.

Wyatt, go metric / 24 hr! life is so much simpler over here... dividing things by 10, not fractions. and time doesn't swap some wierd letters around. 😁

Is the purpose of the water under the plasma table to prevent heat warpage?
@robert5
@robert5 Жыл бұрын
Is the purpose of the water under the plasma table to prevent heat warpage? Partly. The water soaks up heat and sparks etc. I seen people run the water level lower so the water does not really get on the metal you cut but still seams to soak up the sparks and work.

Love your videos! You look like you’d benefit greatly from a boom lift for your forklift, and a vevor magnetic lifter for those big sheets. I’d be surprised you don’t already own one but, just a thought since I keep watching you drop the sheets on the cnc with the forks, just wanted to drop my 2¢ lol anyway, happy holidays keep the education coming plzty🫡

@robert5
@robert5 Жыл бұрын
@@LiftArcStudios I did not know ether, just went and checked them out. For full size sheets I suggest a frame be made with center hook attachment with 2 magnetic lifters, one an each end so the full size sheet does not bow and peel itself away from the magnet.
