@@johnnydoe1984Climate change is real. Individual events are just indicators of a serious problem with the planet. Valencia? Appalachia? Australia a few years ago. All explained as unusual events. When lots of unusual events occur, thats called a pattern. Using oil is a finite resourse which will end. Using Hydrogen isn't. ICE engines can run on hydrogen same as fuel cell electric. Generating hydrogen cleanly is an issue but the end product is water vapour. Crack hydrogen production and local storage at your gas station and you wont know the difference.

They needn't bother with the hybrid systems. Just give us normally aspirated 6 cylinder petrol engines, ideally with twin carburettors and a stainless steel exhaust. Oh, and Porsche; The only screen I require in the front of my car is a windscreen. Stop all this touchscreen nonsense. Include a cigarette lighter and ashtray instead. They're a lot more useful.

11:39 It's been a thousand years since I last had a scone, but my late mum would make them way back in the 1970s & early 80s when I was a very young kid. But I had them heaps of times as it was very much in vogue back then b4 "multiculturalism" took over in the 1980s. We would cut the scone horizontally across, then lightly butter the hot scone (butter is optional) It would melt, then we'd put the jam on, then the cream last. So, Lee, you are correct❗️✔️ Jam first, then cream on top in that order ❗️✔️

Great! Like making our home free from natural gas and 'grey' electricity by replacing gas with woodburners and electricity with solar panels that during winter get 'backup' by diesel generators. The hybrid home has the future! If current electricity and natural gas was not made so expensive by the greens, we would just kept on using grid supply. Now we invest at buying overhead installations that just add more primary mining, transporting and making that add nothing but more environmental harm where it got mined. Our situation is where many Dutch farmers, and small companies find themselves just to keep afloat.

Here’s something interesting, from the RTE main evening news, tonight. 17th November, 2024. If the climate change continues at its present rate, we can expect winters to be wetter, but with less snow and fewer freezing events. Summers will be warmer and dryer, overall, but with occasional thunderstorms with heavy rain. This could all happen by 2050, apparently. Now, that all sounds remarkably like the 1970s and 1980s. In fact, the occurrence of snow EVERY year has only really been a 21st century phenomenon, here in Ireland. In the 20th century we often went several years with no snow at all. So, if that’s what the climate change is bringing us, what are we playing at, trying to slow it down? Even if humankind’s 3% contribution to net global CO2 was a real factor in it, anyway! Slowly but surely, the truth is starting to come out and the narrative is beginning to change. It’s a pity Elon managed to buy North America, because that’s going to create a whole flurry of nonsense, but there’s still light at the end of the tunnel. The next climate crisis is in the works, so start preparing for it.

But that means, the Petrol Engine would have to be on all the time. And that means you're Converting Chemical Energy to Mechanical Energy to Convert it to Electrical to Convert to Mechanical Energy. Each time you convert, you lose energy in Heat. It's almost the same process as a Charging Station, they've just moved the Charging Station to inside the Car. It's still madness, because technology is being developed by Politicians and not Engineers.

Many moons ago I worked for a long deceased independent electrical retailer who, with their great expertise in repairing washing machines, decided to retail the Sinclair C5. People believed it was powered by a washing machine motor, however I believe the motor was in fact developed from a design produced to drive a truck cooling fan rather than a washing machine motor. I think the rumour came about as the C5 was assembled in the Hoover Company's washing machine factory in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales.

The motor manufacturers have only themselves to blame. They should have all got together a long time ago and told the governments this wasn’t going to happen and rejected these stupid proposals. EV’s should be given time to develop and find their natural customer base, not be forced on the public when they simply don’t work for most. Ultimately it’s all about control, to get you off the road and then limit where and when you can use a car as they choose. Own nothing and be happy?!!

All EV's should be supplied with a petrol generator in the boot. A 6Kw generator is around £4k and will fill a Taycan rear end quite nicely and Porsche could give you one of those for free so you only have to top up the petrol. One litre of petrol contains 3.27 kwh (1 * 0.755 * 33.33333 * 13% = 3.27) If the Taycan has a 79.2 kwh battery that's equivalent to 24.21 liters of petrol (79.2 ÷ 3.27 = 24.21) so any quantity of petrol greater than 24.21 litres will result in greater range. eg. 97 litres of petrol will increase range by a factor of four.

I'm not sure what your point is. Petrol cars can't and shouldn't increase the size of their tank - and they can't for the most part unless you infringe on the boot capacity. (You can't for instance place them under the passenger compartment like a battery because there isn't enough space for certain elements and provides a massive hazard for the occupants) One litre of petrol contains 9.6kwh of energy. An average car can do 6.6miles per litre of petrol. With a 1L capacity the car would have a 9.6KWH battery pack equivalent. This means that for 9.6kwh the car can only do 6.6miles. If you do the miles (6.6) divided by the capacity of the battery (9.6) you get 0.66Miles per KWH. (Roughly 30 mpg) My EV gets 4.5miles per KWH. That means if batteries were as energy dense as petrol. An EV with 79.2KWH battery pack could do 5000 miles on a single charge. If that doesn't highlight how inefficient a petrol car is, I don't know what will. Just to add on, diesel isn't that much more efficient, the biggest reason it gets more miles is because the fuel is more energy dense per Litre - because we measure in terms of galons/litres, people are blind to how much is being wasted in terms of energy. It also means if you floor an EV, you would still be more efficient than the average combustion car in terms of efficiency, if you floor a combustion engine, you would loose 95% of all of your energy as heat and noise. That's why Even if your electricity grid was pure coal, or even generated with only petrol or diesel generators at optimum RPMs. EVs would still be better for the Environment.

Jam first. Bit tricky putting jam on cream. Also raspberry jam please. Cheers

I like that you parked the car well away from the main building. Wouldn't want you to burn down the museum by accident. By the way, Gordon Brown wasn't entirely wrong. Diesels are better for the environment than EVs, especially ones that catch fire.

It's ludicrous that the management of an established manufacturer like the VW group should be dictated to by 'here today, gone tomorrow' politicians. As to the scones, it depends on the comparative viscosity of the cream and jam. If the cream is thin it should go on last but if the jam is runny that should be last. If there about the same.....do what you like.
