Good review - as a local, this pub has always been known for its scampi and chips.....always does well and is well known in the area but by no means known as a great pub for food, though. Village has changed with locals moving out and southerns moving in - hence the Leeds United ref in the pub rather than the local Rugby team - Workington Town - but they owners haven't changed much in the actual pub - why change a winning formula after all....

I had a breakfast Bap at Boswell's Newport today and it was Heaven on a plate. Plus a pot of tea. But yours looks incredible. Love a Cumberland sausage. What a plate full that is. Chips look beautiful. How I like them. Done well if the price is reasonable. £21 perhaps.. It's a guess. We will see.

Wish I'd known you were going. Would have got you a pint. I'm only 4 or 5 miles down the road. Haven't been in there for 20+ years. Wasn't very good then, but looks to have improved. Will definitely give it a go. Yes, Hammond is believed to own a place near Buttermere. Never seen him there. Did see Tom Cruise and crew though filming Mission Impossible a couple of years ago.

Snap, Lee, your mum and my dad made the same type of great chips then, this is how chips SHOULD LOOK and be cooked and be this colour, cafes, pubs, chippies and restaurants up and down the land TAKE NOTE!!! I miss them too. The last place you visited which had chips this good was when you and Angie went to a place either in Pinxton or South Normanton I think. This meal looked great, loved the sausage too. As a meatitarian though, I could have done without the rabbit food contaminating my plate. 😂
