Your hurtbox expands the second you hit a button. You might have stepped a move in a string but press too early before the animation is finished and get clipped. Patience is key to not getting blown out like that

TMM says to be patient. But that often means missing my punish because were playing online. Ive also heard him say to not wait to see what happened and just full send your offense as well. It feels like no matter what I do, Im failing after making a successful read.

Backdashing is not the problem. The real problem is a lot of attacks got extended hitboxes. For example my hell sweep or sneak edge can hit people even though my foot never each touched them. This is seems to a problem across the board for every attack in the game. Every attack has a extended hitbox so it's harder to KBD.

I actually don't mind that, some ppls combos are a lot longer than others, so since it freezes it makes the timing of the heat equal for everyone and still gives you a chance to use it as opposed to getting caught in a 24 second combo and then have your heat gone by the end of it

Wow, it’s almost like the customization system was literally meant for exactly that and built with that idea in mind. Wonder what happened 😂 fr though, Soulcaliber 6 had essentially the same customization as Tekken8 except everyone could wear everyone’s clothes, and it was all divided by body sections, no “entire body” plus a ton more options, ton more placement options, and ton more accessories (with placement freedom) not to mention stickers and other small effects.

its strange that they say stepping is more important, but note how there is a huge void of sidestep-specific moves in this game. A great example is Lee's RSS 3+4 and LSS 3+4 which are DIFFERENT depending on the way you sidestep. It feels like Tekken 8 just wanted to water things down to the point of sedating any sense of intelligence in the neutral and maxxed out hand holding heat mode. Completely agree with this video, thanks for the great content.

Why is an example of the abscence of SS moves? A character with two whole SS moves behind a button. That seems like an example of the opposite. Regardless, access to a move out of a SS is a buff for some characters. Being locked out of neutral moves due to the existence of a SS move can be a nerf and a deliberate balance choice.

Bryan is not hard to step lol. Heat string is kinda dumb, and qcf1+2 is probably a bit too strong. Maybe that could be -10 or easier to step. But 3+4 and qcb1 which people complain about endlessly, are linear.

Bryan is my main and I agree steeping woth Bryan is kinda diffcult. And he has not good tool after even sidestep is done. He is linear as fuck and You need to be careful, espcecially versu best stepers in Tekken 8 like Lili for exampe. I love his fighting style but in my opinion this is the worse character in this game. Its bc jin has god poking and approach tools so ff2 having the tracking it does is ridiculous while for kazuya his neutral dies without it. Also jin d2 is both a power low, that isnt reactable when mixed with his other options that has tracking to both sides, ch launches and high crushes and is only -14. Kazuyas is reactable and doesnt have tracking which makes it way more balanced.

Heat dash on block MUST GO or be neutral on block at the very least. Enduring someone's enhanced heat 50/50 pressure+combos, then when they have a tiny bit left you're forced again to block their launching heat engager that was formerly -16 but becomes +5 or 6 because of the stupid ass dash, which then forces you to GUESS YET AGAIN. Why is this a thing?? Blocking = death in this game. Keep it in combos or if it lands, but stop it from activating on block.

I agree that heat shouldn’t stop as you do a combo, at best it should slow down as you combo so that you essentially would still have heat for the entire length of the combo (should you activate heat immediately before starting a launcher) and it run out shortly after finishing the longest combo (minus heat dash as it expends the meter)

One thing I want for T8 itself is Character Guides like SF6. These characters are TOO complicated to understand for the average Tekken enjoyer. So I want something in game to tell me. "Hey. Here's ___. They have a special mechanic that ___. Their Heat State does ___. These activates through ___. These are their strengths. These are their weaknesses." I think this would go a LONG way with combatting Tekken 8 as a massive "rage inducing" game. Also, give Heat Defensive Mechanics.

I feel like having Heat diminish during a combo, but giving *everyone* a method of regaining Heat like Lee and King have would be a good move, because you can burn the whole bar for one massive combo, do a less damaging combo that has some heat restore option mixed in so you can get two, maybe three of those in a round, OR stick to grounded jousting options like Install Strings and the chip damage bonanza. Lots of room for personal preference and player expression, and also adds a form of counter play to each one.

It's not a straight up 50/50, it has a lot of option selects, and on 3 of the moves from stance, if you guess correctly, you launch him for it. I started not going into stance after heat smash sometimes just so I can keep up my offence and risk less.

But it has dogshit range and the 50/50 has interesting risk management considering the guard break only leads to a flash punch which doesnt do that much damage (unless you are at the wall which makes the decision making even more interesting) and the hidden thunder god fist does good damage but is unsafe iirc. I think for King's D/f 2,1 - you don't remove the twitch confirm because that's always been a thing. And you either change the knockdown so he gets a mini combo -- OR add scaling so people can still do the cool sidewalk isw combo but get 40-50 damage instead of 76.

Just like heat smashes, heat engagers should also not track. The nerf they gave to drag’s b3,4 heat engager no longer tracking should be applied to all heat engagers. And please fix the fucking netcode especially when doing cross play battles

Not all heat smashes are linear, for example Steve's heat smash is damn near homing. Also I get the sentiment but making all heat engagers completely linear would make some characters weak, but I do think some need their tracking toned down like Bryan's qcf1+2 and the Mishima demon paws

In general they should hit high cruching low`s that launch you on counterhit. Also Kazuya`s d 1+2 tracks crazy and jins d2 has way to much reach. TMM needs to stop downplaying Kazuya. Kazuya is incredible strong and cheap in this game.

For customization, I think they should really fix some of the coloring options. In some outfits or clothing options there are color parts you can't change whatsoever even though it seems like you should. Ex: The lighting colors on the back in Yoshimitsu's default outfit 3 or the floral design on Jun's Tekken 3 outfit.

Given how easy it is to get in with heat mechanics like the huge heat smash hitbox sizes and that heat smash strings keep going even on whiff, backdash I think Needs to be buffed to make more room for purposeful defensive gameplay. Tekken 8 is already a much more aggressive game where turtling isn't as viable an option anymore, so buffing backdash a little would be a good compromise to still retain the defensive mindgames alongside the new aggressive options.

i agree most of the things you listed but here a couple more that i think are also worth mentioning: - movement is aight in general imo, the problem are a couple of moves with exaggerated tracking like Bryan's qcf1+2, or his SE f212 series as you mentioned, etc. - Hwoarang's half life combo without walls from a 10 frames CH 2,4 into RFS 4 shouldn't exist... the same with his CH db4. - Kuma's heat should be nerf, but his regular kit should gain some buffs since the character kinda sucks without heat. - King's muscle armor should be tone down too, that move is literally spammable due to its armor recovers waaaay too fast and cannot be CHed with lows at any point either, even at point blank you have to react like CRAZY fast in order to throw him out of that, thats why you will see TheJon spamming that and getting away with it even at pro level. - Law's heat 1+2 nunchucks shouldnt track AT ALL either. - Nina's CH game should be heavily nerf, since basically every single string of hers is a CH launcher for some reason... Im ok with her d343 CH since you can duck and launch that even after the first low hits you on normal hit. - Yoshimitsu wall setup after flip is almost without a doubt the dumbest thing in the game regardless if they nerf his damage, that definitely should be gone. - Dragunov's sneak 4 shouldnt be plus on block, b34 Heatdash shouldnt combo just get an extra ground hit.

Lee’s just frames should jail or be safer on block since they’re his main thing. Last hit of Acid rain should be plus on block, it’s super difficult to do especially as a punish. Though in heat, the non just frame should stay unsafe. Should kazuya’s heat be buffed? It doesn’t feel like there’s much use aside from the devil moves since it’s now restricted to temporary heat when he can permanently transform from before. Give back heaven gate damage or restrict it by bringing back the double cd input. Sidestep 1 should be -13. Demon fist in heat could be 15 frame launch. Should kazuya regain heat when you execute an electric? Could heat df 321 hold be a guard break that only guarantees ff2 or a dash electric?

When it comes to the meter I want at the very least to keep my meter until I'm actually recovered. It shouldn't freeze with a slither left but then drain just before I recover. Makes you miss stuff you shouldn't having to know that timing. Freeze it until I recover or don't, not some no man's land in between.

Im so glad people are talking about the rage arts. I got tekken 8 as my first Tekken game about 2 months ago and was so excited to see Kazuya's rage art but when he literally just kicked them really hard it felt so underwhelming.

The constant downplay he does of heihachi is annoying. He always saying average but he is far from it. He’s seen in a lot of high rank play which tells you something. He’s got busted things also. Even at tekken king emperor ranks even where I fight at, he’s always just 2 interactions away from match over. That’s all he needs to win and by round 3 he pops his thing and it’s almost a 100 percent that match is his.

Heihachi is very linear and arguably has the worst lows in the game, outside of warriors instinct he’s pretty weak. Considering how much of a handicap Heihachi has, people just have really good fundamentals with him since they have to 10x harder than the most characters

They should improve sidesteps and backdashes; movement was a lot stronger in Tekken 7. Also they need to buff Jin's heat; give him something unique. Also, they should buff FF+2's range and make it consistent with its animation, as right now Jin's punch can actually touch the opponent but the hit doesn't register.

I'm someone that often thinks rage art should only be allowed once a game, but even i can admit that it's not the rage art it's me getting baited and not always thinking my actions through. I know if I tune that up, the problem of rage arts will go down for me. I don't want them to change things because I suck at something or dont want to put in the difficult work to improve. And I know that's the mindset a lot of people are coming from sometimes. This game is about out planning, out thinking, and out reacting the opp. If you got beat even with rage art, you most likely failed to do those things.

I'm not certain about heat just continually going down after activation because depending on what moves you use while during heat it can literally disappear in 2 seconds, but that's probably just me being a Tenryu player and not utilizing heat to its full potential. I'm in full agreement with you on the backdash and love sidestepping in this game and seeing someone side step properly in this game is just omg...As a DJ main I would love a few more poking options. I don't know man, I'm all for new attacks. Yeah, it could get utterly absurd but having more tools means more things to play with and more options for fun.

@@Klookko then removed manual heat armored bound, you should only be able to tap into heat by doing heat engaged or like tekken 6 bound for example steve duck cancel into wildman bound to go into heat. This rewards players to be good at the game instead of "oh I'm being rushed down press armored heat bound..." too much armored in this game.

Fix phantom hitboxes and make moves that are supposed to be linear actually linear and steppable. Remove tracking on strings. Remove tracking on HS and RA. Make RA a one time use in a match. remove power crush heat engagers. Make combo scaling more active on long combos. Make most combo enders be minus on block. Give everyone a move/remove every move that negates recoverable health. add a gloves section and a shirt/pants/shoes variation (tucked in or loose) to customization

Every heatsmash should cancel with big endlag if the first hit whiffs. Some heatsmashes track and advance almost fullscreen so it can be thrown out whenever. They should be steppable and heavily punishable if avoided

As I often say, one of the ways to enhance defense and not reward aggression too much could be to eliminate the chip dmg on block. Leaving anyway the recoverable health, so aggression still have he's purpose but if I block enemy attacks I must not be disadvantaged.

Kaz gets better damage and his is cancelable, you can fake it into his WS in which he can than do Demon God Fist or Twin pistols and get even more damage, basically a 50/50 CH launcher. It's overall just a more superior move. It's mentally annoying when you get CH by D2 but Kazuyas D1+2 is definitely more deadly to get hit by

I dont want backdash to be buffed but I want sidestep to be standardized, everyone should have a "good" sidestep. It's so frustrating to learn the correct SS for certain opponents offense then you swap to a character with a terrible sidestep and suddenly your options for defense are limited.

1) Universal nerfs to high power crushes, making them -10 OB, at the very least all those power crush HE should not be safe. 2) No buffs to Lee or Lars - they may not be top tiers but they arent weak either and Lars especially is an extremely strong online char 3) Kazuya is top tier and needs nerfs. His difficulty is greatly exaggerated, at the very least ff2 needs its tracking removed and CD 1+2 should give less +frames OB

Lee's Heat is absolute trash and useless. Tell me you don't play Lee without telling you don't play Lee. If you don't buff Lee, all the obnoxious top tiers MUST be nerfed heavily to balance things out. Characters like Lee have been getting disrespected in too many Tekken generations for too long, and his abysmal tournament use / online use is proof of that.

@@cahweh should be punishable at least. 90% of the attempts to step it ends in ff2 hitting anyway. You can also heatdash out of it so making it minus 10-12 with little pushback should be fine. I'd prefer it losing the tracking capabilities but that could be too much for many.

The issue with the heat idea is that it's more complicated than that. Heat is not consumed if the opponent is grounded or thrown. It would require alot of work the rework the system. Also combos would suffer because you could theoretically run out of heat when performing moves the use ut before the combo ends. To prevent this situation, this is the reason why the bar freezes when doing combos.

As a Feng main, I definitely agree with the b3 nerf needing to happen. It really should only be +3 at most or have its guaranteed followup nerfed/removed (maybe remove the knockdown entirely). A nerf to f1+2 making it -10 to -13 on block would be next on my list, and maybe a nerf to the damage of 3, 1+2 since it's such an obnoxiously good whiff punish and has charge-up mindgames (maybe make it -15?)

Agree with all the video, though I'd do something about Kazuyas heat. It's way too OP. If you nerf Kings df2,1 then the character will be useless in high level play. Same with Yoshi, if you nerf him too hard we'll never see him in tournaments as he's barely represented as is. Nina, Feng, Jin, Law, and Claudio need major nerfs.

Honestly she doesn't REALLY need a new low, though she will probably get a new one in S2 like how everyone is getting new moves. Maybe buff the frames on the ones she has now; db2 neutral o.h. Ss4 is good but maybe make it -12 instead. But most definitely agreed on High Crush for FCdf4 and Unsoku 4. I don't know why they removed it in the first place. The nature of the move is intended to be evasive. I have lost many games because I have been jabbed out of it 😴

as a devil jin main, i don't think he needs that much of a buff but i think it would be fresh to slightly tune up he's scaling off counter hit launchers (b4 for exemple) to make he's playstyle a bit more rewardin for not constantly agressing you're opponent. he kinda has a streamline offense (even if most good player will just fuck you up for trying shackles or mourning crow 1) and this is what might be his toxic side.

bad. They shouldn't give the toxic players a part because they'll be toxic about it anyways. They need to just drive them away to be toxic somewhere else, outside of tekken's community. We already have all the toxic brain dead people hating on the game for no reason to handle

Call me crazy, but I think steve needs a few buffs. His while rising 2 should ch launch imo. And his b1 should do a bit more damage on hit and counter hit. I also think that his df2 should have better tracking considering it no longer counter hit launches. 😊

When you land a heat engager, you get a full bar of heat. But when you heat burst you only get like 3/4 of a bar regardless of if it hits or blocked. I think this should be the other way around. high reward heat engagers should not give you a full bar imo.
