Devil Jin still had access to 1,1 confirm into 1,1,2. It's his saving grace when you don't know what to do in neutral. But he does need a better mid. The only decent plus frame mid is uf3, and that's simply too slow, linear and risky. You could argue his archetype of character doesn't deserve good mids due to his hellsweep, so perhaps a buff to df1 would be better. Until then, we gonna skeet again with while rising 2 🗿🔥

I actually kind of like the fact that hei’s main weakness is his vulnerabilities to lateral maneuvers. As you mentioned the df1 is a consistent tool that can be converted into a charged 2, but is interruptible. Sure, it’s a big second hit with good minus frames and healing, but it’s hard to throw it out all the time. That has me considering how I approach my opponent even when it comes to just poking, which was something I never felt was conveyed well to me when I picked up Reina. I feel like I’ve learned the game more and suffered less for it since switching over. Also warrior instinct makes me feel so good and looks so much cooler than any other character specific condition.

Im pretty shit at tekken, and im a shaheen main, He isnt as flashy as some characters but he is really damn good so he definitely S tier. Especially if I as a D tier player can learn combos that take to the wall and smaller combos that do heaps of damage.

To be fair though part of what makes those characters so good is how easy they are. Heihachi is very very very good, if you're very very very good at the game. For everyone else, he's just alright. A lot of the strongest characters are so good because of how easy they get value, while some more difficult characters are only bad because they have to work harder for the same damage.

Heihachi being lower than any Mishima other than Jin is crazy lol He has the best Mishima 112, infinitely better stance mixups than Reina, highest combo damage out of all Mishima's, i12 launcher in heat, best (launching) hellsweep, safe mid CHL, safe mid launcher (unless the opponent is at the wall), better ranged tools than Kaz and DVJ, insane parry window, health recovery gimmicks, and warrior instinct. He's the second best Mishima in the game and by far the most downplayed character since his release.

It's often difficult to gauge your character as the user. Until you face them and realise. "Do I make them feel this suffocated?" Like Kazuya is hard but on the wall against him you feel like "Oh God No!". Also sometimes we don't pilot our chatacters to their roles because of our expression. ​​@@PCG117the down play imo is typically the "but it is so hard to play him effectively" when it is easier than ever. Examples being that the damage loss from. PEWGF after wr2 is negligible when related to the loss of wall carry and unless you are on a huge stage like yakushima, getting to the wall is more important anyways both for damage and oki. Kazuya is literally best when using his strings now. Which is just as easy to do as it is for an Alisa to pop chainsaws. The main downplay is "yea but playing kazuya at a higher level is hard" as if it isn't just as hard as playing almost any of the roster at that level except a minor few.

finally someone with a fair take on shaheen, he’s solid but people keep throwing him in like broken s tier character territory. To me shaheen is the “ryu” of the game. all rounder. his main downside is that he doesn’t have a lot of moves. not a lot of stuff you can throw out and expect people to fall for if they know the match up. I think he’s super cool, he’s my main. I also feel he’s a good bar for balancing. I want all characters to feel strong but need to rely on their character and player expression through that character Ie you are playing that character for reasons other than a tier list. He doesn’t have a high pick rate but he’s my main, and you can tell who has a more advanced shaheen by combo routes, he has some very interesting routes and his while standing 3 loops are not easy if you are going for 2 to 3 reps. In fact his combo damage is fairly low for what tekken 8 is as some characters can get over 80 to 90 with very easy routes. You will be lucky to break over 70 without heat, rage or stage gimmicks with Shaheen. Only way to really do so is master stance cancels and ws3 loops. he’s strong but not broken and i feel your placing is accurate. He is very steppable and his aerial moves you have to space well and his heat smash as they typically will get gobbled up by other moves or you will be counter hit he is steppable as well. He feels like a shorter range kazuya in a way. anyways….

I know Mainman isn't a fan of Jin's design currently, and even as a Jin main I can respect that, but GOD I appreciate him being very specific in his critique, and defining his options that are strong during this tier list. The mere fact that he implied that you can get around a lot of his buttons, but it's hard means a fucking WORLD of difference to me. I've been playing Jin since T7, I'm not above saying he's significantly easier and stronger than his previous itteration, hell I'd be fine with nerfs that would bring him more in line with his previous niche, but the way people discuss strong options is exhausting man. Having someone break down what they do not like about my character, or what they think is really strong in a measured, thoughtful way is such a breath of fresh air. There's times for rage and banter, but man I'd really love for measured conversation to become more common.

@@hyunka2756 Out of all of the Demon Paw esque attacks Jin's is the farthest reaching and tracks the best because of that. The stance his Samsara comes out ADDS to its evasion, it's reasonable to say that a move that you have to do raw on Devil Jin, a character that has to commit to each option more heavily, should at least be on par with Jin's. All of the moves he listed are EXTREMELY strong and you know it. The point he was making is that the moves Jin haves don't serve as much of a niche as they used to and it can be exhausting to fight a character who can do damn near everything without having to commit nearly as hard as you potentially have to in order to beat him. Jin's heat state is not transformative, but his heat ENGAERS are arguably the best set in the game. The farthest reaching demon paw that launches on hit, a hit confirmable 14 frame mid mid launcher, a 13 frame mid string that tracks extremely well, does heavy damage and shuts down momentum entirely on hit or block, a homing powercrush that launches, and a mid that's neutral on block WITHOUT using heat dash, on TOP of having a heat engager that's extremely far reaching, and arguably the most complete movelist in the game. I don't even think his heat smash needs to be nerfed and I still understand where he's coming from. And he made his point WITHOUT devolving into inane and petty insults, or exaggerative statements, or intentionally excluding information to make people he doesn't agree with seem less legitimate. He also didn't go in depth into every option because he didn't want the video to be 3 hours long, which he explicitly mentioned. The reasoning behind what he brought up isn't that hard to follow either. Your comments are exactly what I'm talking about. Talking about anything balance wise to people who reply with messages like you just did is exhausting. I don't agree with everything Mainman or his community says, but god I'd rather talk at length with someone who talks like he did in this video than you did in your reply.

Sorry that you are new to his channel. And arguing over this analysis is worthless. You already begin with a false pretense because you just parroted TMM. Jim's Demon paw literally has less range than Kazuya's, with Jin's sitting at 3.20 while Kazuya's is 3.50. Kaz's deals less damage (22vs20) and is 2f slower (which I would argue is not that relevant in neutral, specially with the extra range), 1f more negative (-8vs-9). Both are the same in terms of stepping them, except Kazuya's is more active and thus more likely to clip a tight sidestep. Then Kazuya goes into heat and now it has a expanded hitbox, and can followup for 40 dmg and knockdown. The rest of the stuff is just as weak but the thing about misinformation is that it takes WORK and TIME to disprove, and effort from the people watching to LEARN. That's why hating on Jin is so popular. Because you can just parrot what this guy says, like you did. I'm also more of a fan of T7 Jin, but for reasons that are not straight bull. His takes in this and every video have the depth of a puddle when it comes to any character that isn't one of his favourites, and shouldn't be taken seriously.

The moves that are safe are usually minus on block, Most of the moves recovers slow that they can be whiff punished easily, and the only plus on block moves is the Basic Jab and DEN 3 in which you can be floated out of using a jab. But punishment wise he is strong.

It seems that he's done downplaying Kazuya since he switched mains to Heihachi. I know that the old man isn't that good but the downplaying is really evident. He didn't even mention Heihachi's top tier punishment and his b1+2 in the video. He's definitely a lot riskier to play than most characters with his commital poking and cinematic whiff animations but he also punishes risky opponents hard, both with his insane block punishment, and his ludicrous electric damage for whiff punishing. Also It's funny how he mentioned that other characters can be as strong as him in warrior instinct with only their heat. But the thing is, he gets his powered-up state for the entire round and isn't bound to a heat timer. Plus, he still has his own heat that could make him even crazier during its duration.

I think Nina is a bit overrated in the conversation of top 5 characters. A lot of the moves people are complaining about with her now (d343, f4, df12, rising 1-1+2, wipe the floor, slide, ss1, ss1+2) are moves she’s had for a while, even back in T7, and were never enough to make her S tier, and to some not even A tier. A lot of her key moves have very strong counter play to them to where she gets punished HARD. D343 has the high that makes the string launch punishable. Slide, wipe the floor, rising 1-1+2 have glaring weaknesses that leave her launch punishable. Her only strings that cancel into ss1 and her rolling dash (most notably f4 and df12) are weak/sensitive to standing jabs strings, crouch jabs, and power crushes because she doesn’t have enough frame advantage to guarantee the follow ups. For ex, df1 into ss or rising moves is 0 on block, but her fastest option out of both of those options is rising 4, which is 11 frames, making her interruptible on all options unless she just does raw df12. Also, she’s very linear and doesn’t have many GOOD tracking moves, not to say that she has nothing though. F4 is like her new key move but it’s very linear, and most of her other ranged moves are slow and don’t reach drastically far. I think a lot of the discourse around Nina is a bit clouded by how perfect she seems when players don’t know her weaknesses, combined with how rare she is, how many options she has in almost every situation which is overwhelming for both the player and the opponent, and how her aggressive design and gameplan is best fit for T8. Her gameplan and weaknesses never really changed. Her design is to overwhelm players with all of her crazy options, and T8 really allows her to shine that way. But she was always balanced by just simply not being overwhelmed and noticing the weaknesses and punishing her hard for it. That being said, her mid power crush heat engager, f42 tracking, her corner setups, and her damage is DUMB and needs nerfs 😂. Db3+4 is an underrated whiff punisher too. But all I’m saying is, that should be it and nothing else, because she has a lot more weaknesses than people realize right now.

She's the most high-risk high-reward character out of all the stance-mixup-heavy characters. Given the nature of this archetype, characters like her, Lars, Eddy, etc will never be top tier. They're simply unreliable and not suited for steady gameplay. That said, I love her too and I accept her as the character she is supposed to be.
