Best Great White Shark Footage of 2021 (PART 2)

This is Part II of my annual collection of my favorite great white shark moments I filmed over the course of this year. All captured in 4K.

My Grandmother witnessed a boy die on the beach after losing his leg to a 4-5m GW. She was young, back in 70's but that story meant I was always wary entering the sea. Your videos have given me a much better understanding & while still apprehensive & have no wish to swim with them, I have a much healthier view of them. I'm certain you've changed the views of many others which will go a long way to help protect these beautiful creatures.

@Sara W64 I'm sorry. But generally sharks test" & make mistakes when they can't see or don't have experience. I live part time on the island of Martha's Vineyard aka Jaws. We have a huge explosion of seals. While I only see one off of our beach sometimes I now swim in Great Tisbury Pond (up here "pond" is a misnomer, it's 840 acres when full

@@DARWINZOO Yes, I heard of "Martha's Vineyard, sounds nice :) I've also read about low visibility, you're right, I'd avoid swimming at dusk too but I guess you can still just be unlucky. Seem to be a lot of GW here in 70's some victims spearfishing but the one my grandmother saw was just swimming, in clear water. May been a shark net but the boy was beyond it, she saw him waving but thought just joking with his friend at first. The friend was brave & helped him to the beach, she saw his leg gone and sadly he was dead before help arrives. Think he was a German tourist not local but years later I swam at that beach...must have been crazy :)

@Sara W64 how awful! Ours are all on the mainland cape cod: with damned seals. Everyone should learn the international sign for I'm drowning which is grabbing the other arm near the wrist Growing up ours were mostly sand sharks.

Some of the footage in these clips is absolutely breathtaking. I consider myself lucky to live a few minutes from Poole Harbour (Dorset, UK) where I've spent many hours water skiing, swimming and kayaking over the years. I tend to also consider myself fortunate not to have to worry whether a shark might be nearby. But, at the same time, I'm quite envious that the opportunity to see these beautiful creatures first-hand is right on your doorstep! I was lucky enough to see a 3m Great White cruise right past the boat I was on during a holiday in Mossel Bay, South Africa some years ago, but it didn't hang around long enough for me to get suited up and into the shark cage. One day though, I hope to go to Gansbaai (SA) or Guadeloupe and see a Great White up close. Fingers crossed :) Anyway, keep up the good work. Anyone who promotes marine conservation (especially sharks) is a legend in my book!

You live in nice area, I have visited Weymouth and is nice swim with no threat of sharks. Where I grew up there had been GW attacks & yeh they're cool & clearly not mindless killers but Id rather not swim with them. I agree, love to see them from a cage, but as for swimming, UK is just fine :) btw a family member actually witnessed a fatal GW attack near to us. Long time ago, but scary. Want them protected but still scare me

@@claredavies21 Nice place to live, I'm from Croatia, we have White sharks but only time I was ever near a shark was in Cornwall! At St.Ives only small blue shark, some people swam to it - not me Ihear "shark" I get out!

As much as I love the ocean environment as a child growing up, I do not understand why I never learned to scuba dive. I guess had I not had to move away from this environment in my young teen days, I'm sure I would have learned so much more than that. It's strange how an environment can shape your future if you feel you're confined due to life situations, and before you realize it many years have passed by, and you are knocking on 60s door...your children's children are having children, and you feel like life has passed by you, and you feel like you didn't accomplish half the things you wanted to. Thank you for igniting an interest in sharks and particularly the fact that they are not usually man eaters at all and are mostly happily exploring their home ( the ocean is their home). Thank you for helping to destroy the myth of Jaws that lots of us grew up with in the 80’s. It didn’t do sharks any favours and encouraged mass culling after an attack. Sharks are a sign of a healthy ocean and must be protected. As you said in your clip it’s on my bucket list to see a large shark 🦈 in its natural environment!

I just love watching your videos and seeing the way GW's interact in the California coast. Absolutely LOVED the whale shark footage. My inlaws swam with a whale shark, they said it was just surreal. I am so glad you're teaching people about their behaviour and showing us all a different side. Growing up on the Southern African part of the Southern Hemisphere, I fell in love with them as a child. I can't tell you how grateful I am that people like you exist. Thank you for bringing what is an enormously docile creature, to the world through your channel. By the by, leopard sharks are my most favourite shy Little Creatures, but all of them are done justice by you. Daily choices and how we live can make a difference if we weren't as selfish a people of our tiny globe. One strives to get to zero footprint, but so many more could also try buying differently, processing differently. It really doesn't take much.
