Very true, an excellent teacher, but the best interpretation of"little thought" I have came to is that it is talking about using your autonomous nervous system, or body's mind you are generally unconscious of, but it can be controlled by the chi, sorta training to achieve nim lik , and you technically would be using very little if any mental thought to do the action and more instinctual thought like breathing

Nima King is the future of WingChun. He is still decades younger than most WingChun masters and he is way ahead of them in genuine skill.

hahaha, I feel a lot of weight on the shoulder with a comment like that! But while that may be the case in CST method of Wing Chun, there are many other lineages and great and hardworking teachers and practitioners out there which are and will continue to do great work for Wing Chun.

Just as with other direct linage Wing Chun Sifu's Nima is carrying on the legacy of also having zero full contact fights on film. Don't worry though, as is tradition this giant testable, repeatable, falsifiable, externally verifiable method of fact checking claims is filled in by stories of "the street" where again it seems court records are thin on the ground. Remember guys, its just too deadly to test......(rolls eyes)...where as full force elbows to the temple in Thai boxing are without danger giving them an unfair advantage in being able to have fights on film backing up the claims their techniques work on fully resisting opponents.

@@myjizzureyeWing Chun Kung Fu is a Southern Chinese Boxing Martial Arts system, developed in China approximately 400 years ago. It came about during a time of civil war, up until that period most (if not all) Chinese Martial Arts were based on animal movements, hence took many years to learn as the movements were unnatural to human functionality. The people needed a relatively easy system to learn and apply readily. So a group of Shaolin (Sil Lum) Masters from different Martial styles collaborated and developed Wing Chun. Wing Chun was then secretly taught throughout China via the Hung Suen (Red Boat) Opera Troupe to the rebels in anticipation of the civil uprising. Wing Chun Kung Fu then dispersed in two directions. On the surface it became sport- like. It was no longer needed for war as such, so it was practiced for health and enjoyment. The system also went underground .Where other branches that went off and didn't have the proper discipline or practice to learn proper Wing Chun and went off and made a mockery of Wing Chun .If this is what your referring to by (Tape ) Where instructors like Nima King took the traditional path and has blessed us with his memories and teachings of the late Grandmaster Chu Shong .We're lucky to have such a honor 🙏

You seriously have the best channel regarding Wing chun in all its beautiful lineages as well as the other arts that you highlight. So much to learn from each Sifu and Master that you’ve interviewed. I learned so much from this segment with Sifu Nima, he has a lot of knowledge to share. I started my journey with Wing Chun with Moy Yat (R.I.P) in Chinatown here in NY. I was pretty dedicated for a while to the point that Master Yat allowed me to open the school. Unfortunately my music career took me away from being able to practice the way I wanted to. I also studied some years later with a gentleman by the name of Sifu Maurice Llewellyn who was a top student of Rick Spain’s out of Australia and who I believe their Master was William Cheung. It’s been a long time since I’ve formerly practiced anywhere but you never lose your love of this amazing art and I still know how to do my Siu lim tao 🙂

Hi Daniel. Absolutely agree about engaging the spine is crucial. I just want to point out that in this video I didn't mean that we clench the butt cheeks. Actually, all the muscles of the body need to be relaxed in this CST method. The activation (lifting) is actually from the anus area but again it shouldn't cause any tightening or tension in the midsection. We go deeper into this and do some demonstrations in Part 2 :)

What a convoluted explanation to their style of wing Chun. He says there is proof of a person fighting 100 people with wing chun. Where's the proof? Who would ever want to fight with internal power? At the end of the day, physical action is required.
@MindfulWingChun6 жыл бұрын
Hey mate. Wong Shun Leung was the man who had over 100 people. He was the main teacher of Bruce Lee in Wing Chun. Look him up on KZbin. Not sure how familiar you are with his lineage but he was a good friend of my teacher CST and this was also confirmed by my teacher. WSL lineage has many schools around the world and there are still many of his direct students that you can go and meet and ask personally... In terms of your second part of the comment. Im not sure we are on the same page in terms of what "internal' means. internal is not a magical or mythical thing. Its simple, its being able to mobilize the body (joints) as efficiently as possible so that you can take and give out as much power as possible. This is just a different method of movement. But of course, an action is required! Internal doesn't mean the 'no-touch' chi "masters" who are charlatans! And in our method, we do live sparring practice and I have students who fight competitively. Again, I dont think we are on the same page in regards to the term "internal" but I hope that Part 2 of the interview sheds some lights on that.

@@MindfulWingChun I know who wong shun is. It is said that he fought people on rooftops. Supposedly 100+. I say I'm a millionaire, that doesn't make it true. Everyone who practises eastern martial arts would do the world a favor by avoiding meta-physical descriptions and principles. They would also do the world a favor by translating Cantonese expressions by being fluent in Cantonese ( or mandarin for that matter). If a eastern practitioner does want to expound on meta-physics then they should be prepared with western philosophy which is rigorous and what modern science is built on.

@@MindfulWingChun we dont understand the universe and its workings. I admit there are strange anomalies that modern science cant explain. But violent actions that intertwine philosophy, art, conflict avoidance and violence are so many disciplines that need to be studied individually. And in regards to life and death violent confrontations, I worked as a bouncer in Sydney's Kings Cross in the early 2000s (you can google it and see how rough it was in those days) so I've had my fair share of violent confrontations so I'm not just 'fooled' by a method and know what works and what doesn't. The problem is that Kung Fu is that thing that really works well (in a real fight) if you are dedicated to it like this guy or the guy he was talking about, but is really shitty if you are not. Or, better said, the problem is that it is not communicated enough in the mainstream that it is such a thing, because of all the McDojos that want to make a quick buck. Honestly, whoever wants to be good at CQC, but doesn´t have the time or devotion for forms of Kung Fu, I would advise literally any other Martial Art. But keep in mind that Kung Fu is also a lot about your well being as a human, and I would also, contradictory to my previous statement, advise anybody to practice it because of this, too.

I suggest making combat application videos. How you use your lineage's wing chun against western boxers, kickboxers, MMA, and other traditional styles. This will interest/impress people more, and you would gain a wider base of viewers to your channel. Long videos about structure, energy, keeping your spine in a certain position, only double-arm or single-arm chi sao videos can be quite boring, and people lose interest in wing chun videos. Show them awesome moves that end a fight quickly. No disrespect, just my 2 cents.
@abishaiyoung4 жыл бұрын
All that you described is exactly what makes this lineage different from the others. Plus, once they (the perspective student) start the training, the focus is on structure, keeping the spine straight... and other minute internal things. It's probably best to advertise what you are offering, because you can't get to the power of the system without going through the foundation of the system.

Wing Chun Business, words and words and more words... With all my respect, in 2018, I encourage all Wing Chun practionners to watch fights like Mc Gregor VS Khabib...
@MindfulWingChun6 жыл бұрын
Hi, the only reason this video only had words in it is that the interview has been broken up in 2 parts. First part is the theory which requires words to communicate. Part 2 focuses merely on all physical demonstrations and applications. If we only put up Part 2, people would probably come and comment about the lack of explanation and theory; So that's why I think The Martial Man did a great job of breaking the interview up into 2 parts, theory, and practical demos. On the point you made about using it to actually fight, in fact, at our school, we do that. I (Nima) am currently training people to fight in competitions. In my younger years I didn't do any competitions however I was a bouncer in King Cross Sydney Australia for a few years; So I have had enough real fighting experience to know what works and what doesn't. Sparring is also a big aspect of our school's method of training here in HK. So, I agree with you that more people should get out there and spar to actually test if what they practice works. Having said this, in the internal arts, many people are only in it for the health aspects. Our oldest student here is a 72year old lady that started with us when she was 68. So, I don't think she is in it to go and fight for the UFC title. That's the beauty of this art, the fact that it can cater to many, MANY different desires in terms of what people want to achieve from their practice; Realistic Self Defense, Relaxation of the mind and body, Postural Correction (I could go on and on)...
@MM-ve5wb6 жыл бұрын
Mindful Wing Chun thanks for your answer. Actually, I wasn't talking only about this video, but also the others that you made where there is a lot of talking and no demonstration of the theory. I wasn't thinking about Ufc or MMA competitions. I just think that in almost 2019, wing Chun practitioners (specially internal as you say) should look at those competitions to realize what can happen with a modern fighter that can put pressure and take you down in a second. Some wing Chun schools understood that and include ground work. That's always better and safer for the students.
@MindfulWingChun6 жыл бұрын
Can't disagree with you there @@MM-ve5wb. I do blab on a lot :) and the reason for that is that my channel is probably the only one on youtube that actually gives the theory of practice for the CST method which is very unique and differs from the other Wing Chun methods. But you are right, perhaps many on platforms like KZbin , Facebook and Instagram merely want to see demos as its more entertaining. When I first started the KZbin channel many years ago, My sole purpose was to act as a messenger to pass on CST's method. You can see the amount of text and explanations in the earlier videos. But this is why now I'm releasing the Online School which is going to teach the CST method step by step in the best systematical way because I found that just putting random videos of random topics on KZbin won't be very effective in properly passing on the method of practice. And in regards to realistic fighting and sparring, As I said before, in our school we do live sparring. I DO play around with friends that are BJJ practitioners and Wrestlers. My student (Lawrence Monsalud) who is competing in SanTa here in HK, goes around different Martial Arts and MMA gyms around HK and spars with them. You can see some of these videos on my/his Instagram and Facebook prages. I agree with you 100% that testing the stuff out with other school and other martial arts is crucial and the ones that don't are just staying in the dark. So, we are on the same page there...
@MM-ve5wb6 жыл бұрын
Mindful Wing Chun the blabbing is not a problem. The only problem is that the theory is NEVER demonstrated for real in the videos I saw from your channel. Maybe you could post one of those sparring moments one day, that would be interesting. As far as online classes, it confirms what I was saying about wing Chun turning into a business. It's like learning how to drive a car online... Anyway thank you for your answer.

Feel your Center of Mass and ulitize it to power each and every movement." That's it. We basically go off that in every Form, technique, and exercise. However to be able to not use muscular force almost goes against our nature and belief, therefore it takes time to actually gain the ability. Every real art takes time to get good at whether it be music, painting or Wing Chun. Meditation is also very simple. Just sit and observe your breath/thoughts etc. don't attach to any thought or emotion. The instructions are very simple, yet there are people who literally dedicate their entire lives to sitting meditation and aren't able to do this simple thing. So our Method of Wing Chun is similar. Chu Shong Tin used to always tell us that "It's very simple but its difficult to do". Hopefully, Part 2 of this interview will shed some light on this :)

@@MindfulWingChun Thank you for the comprehensive reply. I look forward to hearing more in your part two. Always interests me what other systems do. The more I look into WC I see there appears to be so many different styles of it....?!?

Yes Michael, there is definitely different styles and method to Wing Chun. Even within the Ip Man Lineage, literally every teacher does it differently, to a point that its almost a different style/system/method. And of course there are many other Lineages apart from Ip Man Wing Chun.
