Just watched this video. Thank you for the interview. I bet you barely can move when he hands touched you, especially when hands with hands, & his right thumb stick your rib and pushing you another side. Ha... His fists, fingers, his grip, his palm strength is so strong that didn't even move his shoulder. Basically you are dead the moment when you got locked inside his boundaries. I bet he is 10 times "heavier" than Kahar. Kahar did it on me before, I can't barely move my hands when both of our hands crossed. I also tried Kahar 0 inch punch on my chest. Even with dictionary covered, is like a sword stab middle into my chest. It took days to recover from the uncomfortable. Good sharing bro, even through I have never meet Yip Fook Choy Sifu. Although I have heard a lot from Kahar. At least with your documentary will help to know him more. He showed you lot ways to attack. But usually they end fight in seconds before even knowing. Which mean, we won't see it clearly.

@@WingChunEcuador Because it's not the short version of Wing Chun, he taught traditional wing chun to a few, Chu Shong Tin was one of them, go look him up and you'll see Ng Mui's Wing Chun. (Ng Mui = The Founder of Wing Chun)

And then those guys did all of the teaching for Ip’s school. Would be really interesting to know how Ip and his fellow students trained in the beginning when they were kids .

Hard breaks the hard, soft penetrates the hard... Hard styles utilize to be soft then hard for breaking.. Internal arts that are soft use softness to penetrate inspite of being hard.. This is very familiar to the siu lim tao form I practiced few days ago combining all three forms.. It works only if you have good basic qui practice like Tai Chi, Bagua and philosphies and mindsets and thus promote a healthy body and mind... Technical support is awesome.. I would like to see the unseen footage of the wooden dummy form but I already know them as I have explored them.. Sifu Serio has demonstrated them in several occasions like in his own DVD of Siu Lim Tao as an addition to IP man Siu Lim Tao in advance method borrwing them from different lineages, it was great to see this.. Tai Chi of all lineages are great and can be combined with IPman Wing Chun, it is also spectacular and complete like Bagua.. Great Shaolin Wing Chun, thanks Martial man!!

Thank you so much to the Martial Man for this video. This art certainly deserves exposure , especially with its historical connection to the Red Boat Opera. I hope to see a second video where proponents of this art demonstrate and explain it's similarities and differences in principles and strategic applications as compared to other schools. As far as I do know, due to its association with the Red Boat Opera, Yip Kin Wing Chun also absorbed other Kung Fu patterns or arts practiced by others on the boats. In its style and moves and essence looked similar to lau gar kung fu. But then almost has a difference to the attacks and defence techniques. Amazing its so similar but yet so different at the very same time.

That was really cool .I wish I knew more about my Wing Chun linage.My teacher was western boxer that learned Chinese martial arts Wing Chun Shui Jiao and Chi na Shaolin Kempo form an old Chinese man during the late fifties and early sixties.Kinda sucks in a lot of way not having traditional affiliation or family.But it does allow for a great deal of experimentation,and not having attachments that can hinder individual development.But I still wish I had that sense of history and connection you get from traditional martial arts.My Wing Chun has become very soft as I grow older I'm in my fifties now and have been at it since 79.I've been considering studying the Ip Man style a Sifu moved close to my home and his fees seem reasonable.I live in Ohio and have considered moving to Dayton.I've heard really good things about the teacher there.I live in between Akron and Cleveland now and they're some pretty good Wing Chun schools and Sifu around.I miss my teacher he was all about practical application and had lots of experience in the ring and on the street.His son even won a kick boxing championship back in 87.But unfortunately his son has a lots of health problem and doesn't teach.Wing Chun is wonderful journey that is for certain it has so much to teach and is deep and full of meaning.

Honestly, from my experience you're better off not being part of a traditional affiliation. There are a lot of outdated and in my opinion useless rituals involved with saving face that have nothing to do with your development in the art as a fighter. I came from those styles and there was not much room for experimentation. I come to find out they don't even know why some things are done, but just go with it cause their teacher did it that way but never explained or thoroughly demonstrated what things were for. I hope you are still training and developing yourself in the art.

@@varanid9 That has been my experience as well. My first martial art was Wing Chun under a guy who had a traditional lineage in 7 Star Praying Mantis and Baguazhang, we did the same stuff for 6 years until his former number 1 revealed that he was slow burning us for school fees. I then left and got with his number 1 who was also thuggish, was a former bounty hunter and bouncer for 19 years. He actually explained what everything was for and told me that in the old days training was very experimental and hands on. My fighting abilities took off from there. After that I explored other arts, but ran into guys who did the same old things as my first instructor, pure BS with no aptitude for fighting. I found another good teacher in an old boxer who did many arts and even competed in old kickboxing competitions but specialized in Xingyiquan. He encouraged me to find what works for my body, fighting aptitude and attitude. Although he holds a lineage, he does not givorn his teaching to the traditions and really likes to train hands on and swap paint with people. However he is old and he cannot go for long like he used to. My former teacher's number 1 student who really took me to new heights lives over seas and my access to him is about a couple of times out of the year. Yes those guys are a real rarity and a real treasure. The more you seek it out, you'll find those guys. They're the guys that do nothing but talk about fighting and life and they value people who really want the skill. To this day I have no rank and do not even hold a traditional lineage, but I was recently shown respect by guys that do at a cqc seminar. The fighters that can see through the facade of tradition and value the skill will recognize you and even offer to train and teach. But beware of the guys that want to use you to say that they trained your high skill so that they can get recognition and respect from other so-called masters. There are a LOT of those around. Keep training. What I found is that even if you teach what you already know to someone who doesn't, your skills improve greatly as you see things from a new angle and even catch errors in things you do.....I suspect this is how multiple different lineages of one style came about. Dudes experimenting and seeing what works for them.

Wow what a difference to the HK style and to Siu Nim Tao! I see a lot of similar movement to WC but def some shaolin\wushu moves mixed up in there....and holy crap is that form long. No sir...its only a pleasure..credit must be given where credit is due.....your humble approach and genuine interest eggs the Sifu's to impart knowledge and share with you little gems that they would not normally give with a camera pointed at them. (That being said, some of them do tend to go on and on like pompous windbags lol)Also any exposure on KZbin for them means more people watch and therefore more students. The trick is to find those Sifu's who don't want the exposure with the hidden Martial Arts that has been kept a closely guarded secret. I am half Malay Irish, all my uncles come from Malaysia. They all know kung fu. One of my uncles did what your doing now but hes a master himself seen a guy pummel river rock with his bare hands seen monks do stuff you'll never see on video amazing things. Qi gong is real but there is so many fakes out there. Also amazed so many grand masters are in Malaysia and ipoh where we are from.

I love seeing content from southeast asia. It’s much richer in diverse KF than ppl give it credit for. Hopefully you can get Eric Ling for White Crane! I must say though... Hung Kuen is not “only hard”. That’s why the first 2 of 12 basics practiced are Gong Kiu and Yao Kiu (hard bridge, soft bridge). What’s interesting is the form he shows actually looks a lot like Gung Gee Fuk Fu Kuen, but with a lot more to remember! Lol. That thumb... been hit with that thumb of death before lol. In the stomach. Messed up my digestion for 2 days 😂 Cheers!

The opening of the form is almost the same as bak mei opening, it also seems to have Hung gar and Hakka southern mantis flavor in it. Very interesting indeed.

Rakoom Boom the opening salutation has a connection to the Red Boat Opera so it will certainly look similar if not the same as some lineages of the Southern arts. Nice comment and observations 👍

The last hand form is Mantis, i noticed that as well... saw a lot of small hints of hsing yi chaun fa, the leopard fist, mantis style... never seen someone who could mix and use so much fluidly with ease.. this man is no joke.... not many ppl strike that part of your Lat muscle, i noticed that right away. He knows way more than Wing Chun.

@@yourguide637 i don't think so, i had seen many wing chun grandmasters destroyed by Mr. Xu Xiadong in less than 7 seconds.. the greatest chinese tai chi grandmaster, lei lei, almost got his skull broke in 4 seconds, by Xu Xiadong.. i don't think this master will survive against Xu since chinese traditional martial arts are in panic on Mr. Xu's awakening and exposing chinese martial arts as fake or obsolete against real live combat or well trained opponents.. this style might work against untrained bullies but what about trained thugs, streetfighters or robbers who will mug you up real bad??

There are many forms in the different style of WC. However, if you look carefully close enough there are always similarities like Tan sau, fook sau, bong sau kang sau and so on...... Just different styles.

It looks somewhat similar to cho-gar wing chun, the use of kiu-Sao, the positioning of body forward rather than backward, seems similar. I wonder if both styles have any connection.

Once, I fighted a Judoka. When he grabbed me for a throw, I just punched him right to his jaws with uppercuts, then finished him with hooks. He was totally enable to use his techniques. I am not Bruce Lee and maybe this guy could have thrown me to the ground, but He was fighting like in tournament and didn't expected to be hit back. Judo and Ju jutsu are really efficient in a fight, but according to me, people confuse about it because of the Brazillian Jiu Jitsu propaganda and imagine that almost all the fights have to end on ground. Facing an armed agressor, a takedown is pretty unreallistic. You may succed of course, if you're a very skilled Judoka, but continuing the fight on the ground would certainly occure stabs and really bad wounds. Some arts like Arnis de Mano are more suitable for street fights ( I mean life and death encounter ). Even in MMA competitions, you can see grapplers defeated by boxers. Wing Chun has its limitations too, especially dealing with massive and powerful opponents, but, as all martial arts, its purpose is to end the fight as soon as possible, with hits to weak areas of the body : Eyes, temple,throat... If the surprise effect is lost, then the troubles begin. No one can predict how a fight will end.

Sai Fa Kuen seems to incorporate many techniques, ideas and concepts under one roof that are found dispersed through all four of the empty hand forms in classic/HK Wing Chun. That is very interesting.

Good observations, this style has an influence from Red Boat Opera so you will see lots of Southern Shaolin in there. It's a very rare and unique lineage.
