I got to meet people from makers and they explained the process, they had 12 year old cask strength makers from the Rick house and it was fine, but when tasted near the cellar aged product it was night and day, made the CA product shine! I do generally enjoy makers but cellar aged always tastes special to me

Nice review! I am glad I just was able to get a 2nd bottle of the 2023 Cellar Aged near MSRP. Would probably get a 2024 if I can find for MSRP. But will not pay anything above. 🥃

Thanks Jason for another great review! Hard pass for me - I'm still hunting for the RR15. Like you, I've never been a huge fan of wheaters though I do enjoy the cask strength from MM.

I have to say I really enjoyed the MM The Heart Release 2024. I feel it didn't follow the normal MM profile. I need to compare it to the BEP. I hope the Cellar Aged is even better.

Had the opportunity to blind WT Generations, MM Cellar Aged and Little Book Chap 7 back in January with a couple of friends. Little Book Chap 7 came first for 2 of us with WT Generations being the other one. I think I will pass this one too at SRP of 200.

Nice to see a KZbinr not ranting and raving over these cellar aged. I really didn’t enjoy the 2023 cellar aged at all, it absolutely tasted like typical makers mark and I was not a fan at all.

Last year, I grabbed one for 150 and after two disappointing pours, I blinded it against Maker's CS. The 2023 Cellar Aged has a great nose, but Maker's CS won on the palate and finish for me. I'm a very big Maker's fan if that means anything. Not even going to try for this release especially when I can get the CS, 46 CS and a pick for under 100. I'm also digging the Heart release. Cheers!

Had a friend share a pour of the 2023 release with me, and it’s good, but it’s not special. Rebel 10 can go head to head and probably win in my opinion and I can pick that bottle up for below $100. I just don’t understand the excitement with these

I agree, this bottle is way to oaky and has a weird note on the finish. Tanik, wet cardboard, whatever you want to call it. It just didn't hit right for me. I didn't get to try the 2023 release but the 2024 is a pass for me. Luckily my buddy bought a bottle and I got to try his.

Whiskeytubers are obsessed with oak. I don't mind some oak in my whiskey but I don't care for oak-forward whiskey. Which is great because I don't have to pay a premium for good juice.

idk why they just don’t age in regular rickhouse past the 6-7 yr mark. they aren’t going to get the flavor concentration or the oxidative degradation products of the tannins as much either. What’s wrong with making wlw 12yr? f***ing amazing stuff, compared even to the 2023 cellar aged. imho, mm is missing the mark with their flavor vision. although 46 is better bc of the french oak influence, the whole focus on production volume (and low age whiskeys) over high end whiskey production (much lower yields) really dampens my enthusiasm for the brand. They could be making volume whiskey for shots, and limited amounts of more refined sipping whiskey ( not a knock if you like to sip mm) but they are missing the mark, pun intended when compared to the marketing wizardry over at BT, or even (sigh) diageo.
