It was my 20th birthday the day this was recorded, here I am almost 66 and still listening to the master at work

This concert was 7 days before my 18th birthday as a senior in high school and I appreciated Jerry so much in this timeframe that it bordered on being embarrassing. Here I am almost 44 years later and my affection for this music has not subsided. It seems timeless to me and the extent of my affection is still embarrassing- haha.

No shame zone. When you get confused, just listen to the music play, and forget all the rest 🙏

Jerry always had a way with Dylan tunes. He was a true musical genius to say the least. Thanks Jerry; I am Forever Grateful!

We saw Jerry a bunch of times from 1975 thru 1985. I heard him do this song alot. Great cover!

Like the song of a broken heart chalking it up to a simple twist of fate to deal with the sadness within. Jerry sings it strait. But his playing reveals the true heartache with beautifully placed minor notes and his runs around the fretboard. Genius is often the manifestation of sadness I suppose.

Ironically, songs like Bertha are quite happy. Jerry must be schizophrenic as he can whip into extremes so naturally ❤ 🎸 💀

Die hard Dylan fan/snob here. But…damn…Jerry nails it. Love this version. It's just different. Not worse. Not better. Just different…and beautiful. Thanks for posting.

To: Garry Founds - I feel sorry for you however (re: fan/snob reference). See, Bob Dylan and Jerry Garcia (R.I.P.) are both Heaven's gift's to all of us. Though Jerry is now singing to the Angels-in-the-sky, Bob has the burden of just performing all his songwriting gems to us peons-on Earth. One day, though, we'll all just be 'going going gone'. Treasure them all, including the great Tom Petty!

jerry was the best interpreter of Dylan tunes and as one of my buddies mentioned, probably a better interpreter than Dylan himself on most occasions in voice and always on guitar. they grew into themselves w/ jerry's playing. sometimes it takes two.
