And then nu-lore with cawl comes and tell you that no, lamenters never cured it and now suffers it aswell.

@@WhatThe40k nooo, leave me to the void. Theres other more saner comments about this. I just dislike the new lore and slight missed oppertunity with the lamenters. That said I do have a request..2000 pts mechnised infantry "company" (becuase irl it would closes be a company size army) I always liked mech inf and wanna see a theme on it..maybe base it on irl army list (tho heavily tailored since gw have yet allowed us to field 3 at4's alongside a crew weapon.)

Actually the Lamenters were an example Cawl used to decide to keep the Flaw in their Geneseed. Attempting to remove it is one of the factors believed to have led to their misfortune. It was dormant for a long time but after several centuries the Flaw began to surface amongst them.

@@bigjoeflo and I call bs on that new lore reason. I want my lamenters of old, now they just got red thirst/black rage ONTOP of their shitty luck. It is just nu-lore that I do not like nor do i like cawl himself or his inventions that kickstarted 40k into 42k and was forced to make a timeskip/take a step back becuase everything got front loaded. This was not the way to go forward with the lore and or system

@@bigjoeflo Right... so, according to the new lore if what you said is true, Crawl is (at least partially) responsible for the 21st Cursed Founding and just admitted it. He revealed he was directly involved in the alteration of the geneseed of many Chapters and the creation the dozens of Chapters that would turn traitor in great part due to their modified geneseed. And revealed he found a cure to the Red Thirst and decided to hide it. (He does not address the melancholy that takes all Lamenters. The Black Rage is psychic backlash from Sanguinius' death, so not something he can do much if anything about.) How the fuck he is still alive after admitting to have committed treason on such a scale? How did he escape everyone interested in the cure to the Red Thirst for good and ill? Primarch and Lord Commander Roboute Guilliman would be incensed as hell and he would demand explanations. How can Guilliman trust the Magos? How can we trust that the "re-emergence" of the Red Thirst is not Cawl's fault if he is so skilled in the art of manipulating geneseed as he apparently brags? That it was not integrated in the Primaris package for the Lamenters as to say, hide the fact that he was not responsible for the cure and decided to lie to build up his reputation? That the Red Thirst re-emerging was not some assholes modifying the records? I mean, the new Badab war lore shows that the Inquisition went against the remit given by the Lords of Terra by not investigating the Lamenters' records, something they did for the Executioners and the Mantis Warriors. Or the Inquisition did investigate and sealed it all away while not doing so for those two Chapters. So clearly someone has a grudge against the Lamenters. (The way the Minotaurs are explained to have defeated them has holes big enough to fit the Phalanx. I suspect that the events given are false and hide things that would embarrass certain individuals or reveal certain elements of the Loyalists side having gained help from heretical sources. It would explain how the Minotaurs managed to get everything they needed to pin down the Lamenters, including besting a freaking Battle Barque (much bigger and meaner than a Battle Barge, built during the Great Crusade with all the differences in technology this means) with a supposedly Codex Astartes-legal Chapter fleet. That or some people did not think things through at GW.) The Lamenters went from a self-sacrificing Chapter that exchanged (with nobody knowing how) their original flaws for melancholy and bad luck (and bad reputation) to one who exchanged the Red Thirst for the melancholy, bad reputation and bad luck to one who kept the original flaws and gained three new ones. The 21st Founding included attempts at correcting geneseed. Now, the Lamenters contradict that fact because the Flaw was visible and deliberately kept in the geneseed and two new Flaws were added. This is not trying to improve and failing, this is sabotage. And as Cawl claimed he left the Flaw in the Geneseed, well that means he was present and a participant. Yet he did nothing about the various issues the other geneseeds had. He clearly had the knowledge and skill to address those issues if he could identify the part of the Geneseed that caused the Red Thirst and know how to remove it. Claiming that attempting (not doing, but the attempt) to remove the Flaw resulted in the Lamenters' misfortune while at the same time claiming that you knew how to remove the Red Thirst yet decided to leave it is a contradiction. It took time for the truth about misfortune, about how it dogged the Lamenters. If you knew the attempt to cure the flaw were failure, then leaving those modifications in the geneseed does nothing but impair those Astartes for no reason but your sick fun or indifference. If you knew how to remove the Red Thirst, then not modifying the geneseed back to normal (thus undoing the misfortune) before removing it is non sensical. As is not providing said cure to the Blood Angels. Or he was the one who tried to remove the Red Thirst and failed and is now lying to cover his ass on the failure. Cawl's claims are either lies in an attempt to explain why the Primaris Lamenters have the Red Thirst (and thus a serious blow to Cawl's ego and claims about his ability to modify the geneseed to lessen or remove the Flaws) or he is a traitor who actively and knowingly (or simply did not care, which is not better) created dozens of Chapters that would turn traitor due to the very Geneseed he modified, possibly as experiments for his Primaris. Centuries of unrest, ravages and destruction now get pinned on him alone because the individuals who worked on the 21st Founding were either eliminated or never found in the lore. Great, now I worry Cawl kidnapped (and possibly murdered) the original Lamenters that remained to study their geneseed to find the cure to the Red Thirst he actually lacks while having replaced them with his home-grown regular and Primaris Blood Angels who were not told the truth. And that his reasoning on the Lamenters is both him having agents (or people who hate the Lamenters) changing the records and covering his crime while trying to gain more political power. After all, the cure to the Red Thirst would make all sons of Sanguinius more than willing to pay great prices to him. The Lamenters went from a Chapter that broke from the base mold of the Blood Angels by lacking their geneseed flaws to those who got dealt the shittiest hand of them all. This is lessening the Lamenters, stripping them of their differences with their fellow scions of Sanguinius for the sake of making things worse. It's like someone saw how popular in a way they were and decided that they did not like it. Alfabusa did a video a year ago I think about that, it may be linked. It's like their luck is so bad it affects this world and encouraged people at Games Workshop out of universe (and Ordo Chronos in-universe) to retcon their state into getting worse retroactively.

That was a very interesting list. As for me, I would go into terminators, or the closest Primaris Equivalent of Terminators, Heavy Intercessors or Aggressors. The Lamenters were unique in that they were able to approach the Space Hulk, the Unhallowed Heart, without pretty much instantly being driven to madness and despair. No one else could approach that space hulk, and only the Lamenters were able to destroy it, with their Terminators, as a result. I'd definitely lean into that, and stretch it out to mean psychic resistance over all. Maybe giving them a Librarian.

in lore Lamentors does not have any Impulsor, Baal Predator or heavy transport, and does not have Exterminators armor after Badad War, Minotaurs took all of them.. plus Lamentors are a Fleet Based Chapter with more support in air force insted of land artillery or land vehicles

Cool list! I like these thematic builds, it's a nice break from the typical netlisting we usually see floating around. Considering all the plasma and expected bad luck deaths, an ancient would've been nice to give them a last, heroic chance to kill their foes. Let's see what you can come up with for the tacticool Raptors next time.

I'm so happy to see this. You are the guy that dot me into armymaking side of the hobby. And now you did this. I'm really happy. I especially loved your reaction to Malakim Phoros. I think I did the same when I first saw him - perfectly normal phenomenon. I sent the video around. Hopefully it will reach more people. As for the list - I think I would do the exact opposite as a thematic list. Unlucky chapter would surely look to minimise the outcome of luck on the battlefield. I think. Say for fire support they would try to avoid swingy weapons like meltas and lascannons or dangerous ones like plasma. I fully condone subbing Malakim for a generic Captain. It breaks my heart but it is what it is.

I'd like to see your take on a list inspired by recent Lamenters lore and their century long penitent crusade M41/M42. I'm guessing it would feature a lot of firstborn veterans, very few terminators, maybe a Deathwatch detachment of Lamenters serving/returning from the Long Vigil and possibly allies from the Red Hunters chapter who were assigned to observe the progress of the Lamenters' penance and fought along side them against Hive Fleet Kraken. And thank you for a concise, contemporary list with plenty of crunch, nice work!
