I felt eradicators were the obvious pic, and many of the Space marine TLBs of late have featured quite a bit of primaris, which led to the result in the list.

@@WhatThe40k Don't get me wrong, I really like how you took the regular tactical marines, and i may take them now as well as i build my own Salamanders list. However, since terminators, aggressors, and eradicators are the most thematic salamanders units, i was surprised to only see 1/3 of those units. I agree that they are seen too often in other lists, but then my solution is to remove them from those lists.

At 0:26, on your adeptus astartes marking and heraldry sheet, you've got the Salamanders Sergeant helmets as red instead of green and the eye colors as yellow or yellow/green instead of red. As a Salamanders player, my understanding is that this is not correct, and I haven't seen any canon to support your what you have chosen to do. Why have you made these changes. And if I'm wrong. Can you please tell me how/why.

Thanks for clarifying. No you are not wrong at all. Simply, for my successor chapter I've taken my heraldry cues to follow codex compliant standard. Red helmets for sergeants, company heraldry denoted by colors, etc.

I'm building a salamanders list, and am doing something very different. Rather than mobile stuff, going for the tankiest possible footsloggers I can possibly build HQ Smash captain on bike, super tough setup (forge master/salamanders mantle/miraculous constitution), thunder hammer and combi melta Aura spam primaris LT with storm shield/neo volkite (obsidian aquila and rites of war/storm of fire, sits in center and gives 3 different 6' auras to core, is tanky with storm shield) 2x 5 tactical squad with combi melta/flamer stuff (based on what i got in 1 box) 1x 5 executor/heavy bolter Heavy intercessor 1x3 Flamestorm Agressors 1x5 Bladeguard Veterans Apothecary with the works 2x Plasma/gatling/missile pod redemptor 2x Invader ATV with multi-melta 3x3 Eradicators with heavy melta and multi melta Vulkan lives... you do not.

Usually I like your videos a lot, but as a Salamanders player I have to say that this list wouldn't have worked really well even before the big point change, at least not in the competitive area. Salamanders have to get close, and aggrressors are the best thing that can happen to you next to the blade guard. Add to that the Contemptors with Vulkite Culverins and you're good to go. And let's not forget ... Bray'arth Ashmantle, the character Dreadnought from Forgeworld who is only made out of flamers! Anyway, keep up the good work!

Sorry to hear you didn't like the video. Generally, the thematic list build series isn't about featuring units that are the most competitive viable. In fact, I often I try to feature units and choices that are less popular (thus the competitive schism you've identified), which still are apt to the theme. That being said, I appreciate your comment all the same 😊

Glad you enjoyed it. I went back to check the Battlescribe data and I found the discrepancy. There were the MM marine was in addition to the stock 4 +1 sgt. I just got into warhammer last week, and am starting with this army! One quick question: why does the tactical squad cost 138pts? I have 18*5=90 + 10 for the Combi-Melta + 20 for the Multi-Melta. Is the Astartes Chainsword different from just a regular Chainsword? Thanks ahead of time for any help.

1:35 What "fair" concession? One reroll is overpowered while the dark angels get a damn army wide 2+ BS/WS and free transhuman for half the army? Just looking at the insane codex creep and auto-win dark eldar shit out now Salamanders should not only keep that reroll to hit but also get one armor save reroll per unit as well. And no, its NOT worth buying codexes OR minis even, codexes can be downloaded for free and minis come recast for peanut money. I learned that the last time I bought a codex which was the grey knights one and then was stuck for 5 or so years with an utter pile of unplayable dung as everything else codex-creeped over the GKs. Till the GW apes learn to balance the game I will not give them a single dime.

Im learning Salamanders and struggling against friends when we play 500 and 1000 values to learn more mechanics. Hoping that when we bump up to 1500 point battles I'll be able to go up against their grey knights and other armies one of them is bringing. Definitely taking notes for the aggressors and adraxx need to remember to keep him around them as support

NP. Eradicators rules are very good. From a tournament pov, they invalidate many other options. Now this is all here-say, but seeing as how Eradicators are a new product which no one owns, it gives off the impression that GW is pushing this product with these rules for the tournament minded players - similar to how aggressors were previously. I rate Salamanders very highly, likely among the best of the space marine chapters. In part because eradicators with them are even more potent then they already are, but also because Salamanders have good mechanics that are conducive to 9th editions mission structure. Defensive perks to hold the mission, tools to excel in melee, counter charge, etc.

I've only played with my friends so far and I'm thr only one that can beat the death guard player because I have 2 erradicators, bikes with melta rifles, and tactical squads with melta rifles. I pretty much rely on Aggressors for hordes. I dont know if this is a good idea but so far it's working out. I'll watch more of you videos whenever I make a new army!

I'm surprised combi flamer Sternguard and Erdicators missed the bus here. Both are units I take in my list and they feel right at home in sallys. Also a fun thing i need to play test. Salamanders Chapter master with jump pack and thunder hammer. 2 WT's anvil of strength and never give up(?). Taking angel artiface. Honestly, I think Adrax is fine (though I do agree with removing the -1). Now Vulkan's spear, one of the relics of the primarch, being D3 damage? No thank you

Yeah I think Adrax is fine. Its the lack of consistency, and the decision to do nothing about it, that bothers me. I am totally with you on Vulkan's spear though. Personally my headcannon was that it could stay D3 damage, but ignore invulns. -since its hot.

Salamanders FTW Pretty sure his hammer is just an improved thunder hammer, not a heavy. In 8th edition, it was just a hammer with 1 extra damage. Now it's a thunder hammer with an extra ap on top of the extra damage.

Maybe... To your point I can't recall any mention of Malleus Noctum being labelled a Heavy Thunderhammer. But the design of the weapon (long handle being the key defining quality of a heavy thunder hammer) certainly imply it to be classified as a heavy one vs a standard one.

Instead of adrax I bring the primaris lieutenant with storm shield and give him the same warlord trait as adrax and give him the obsidian Aquila relic for +6 FNP. He supports the aggressors with rerolling the number of flame weapon shots and wound rolls of 1 and the FNP aura

It's definitely possible. But with the current ruleset, you lose some pretty thematic rules for the Salamanders if their allied with other factions.

This model has a transport capacity of 10 SALAMANDERS PRIMARIS INFANTRY models. Each MK X GRAVIS model takes up the space of 2 models. It cannot transport JUMP PACK models. Mate, a fellow Salamander player here. I like your list, I got one very similar; the difference are: 1. It's a Vanguard Detachment. 2. 2 units of Sternguard Veterans with combi weapons (3 flamers and 2 meltas) instead of the tactical troops. 3. Primaris Capitan with Lord of Fire + Rites of War warlords traits. The power sword + relic shield and Vulkan's Sigil relic. Please, don't take this as a criticism; I'm just sharing my list as it is very similar to yours. All the best and hoping that those 20k come soon!

Shoulder trims are often used to denote which company a marine belongs to, that is the case here.

Hey actually do you think we’d ever see some imperial guard thematic lists? Just because with the release of the new Gaunt’s Ghosts models, I was wondering how to make a army themed after the Tanith First and Only. Granted I don’t know if they are a playable regiment in the codex or honestly how viable they’d be but I think it would be a very cool army to run.
