Brean Theme Park Vlog August 2020

In this vlog I head to Brean Theme Park located in Somerset for a 4 hour ride session. Along with checking out the parks social distancing measures I also share my experience of the operations throughout the park. There's also on ride POV's from all of the attractions I ride including the absolutely awesome Terror Castle Ghost Train and Astro Storm, an indoor roller coaster!

Terror Castle -- Yes, there was a lot of broken stuff last time in 2018. Still a couple of things not working by the look of it. After the 2nd doors open there should be a body rising up and I'm not sure you had the rabid child in a playpen in the nursery - very disturbing !

Great vid as always Shawn, an example of another place taking advantage of the furlough, profit before staff and customer safety.. let’s hope your vids help crack down on places like this and make them more safe, it’s terrible 1 person running a ride with a separate on load and off load. Not good. On a positive note, can’t wait for your next vid. 🤝

I remember Astro Storm from when I watched a Pleasure Beach Experience vlog! Good to see it attracting more people here. They really need more Staff during Summer as that is the most busiest time of the year, feel bad for them when they are making good money.

ride selection = decent ride operators = do good job management of the park = LOUSY!! not enough ride operators in my opinion that may cause a safety hazard or possibly get someone hurt injured or maybe even a death in the park! that's unacceptable! closing down any ride when it's open during park hours for ride operators to take breaks? what the heck is park management thinking? hire more ride operators! COME ON NOW! if a ride needs shutting down for safety or maintenance concerns is understandable , but shutting dowqn rides for breaks when people have been waiting god knows how long to ride? COMPLETE NONSENSE!

Brean has always been an odd place but it’s so worth a visit for just Astro Storm and Terror Castle which has a new sign by the looks of it !! I’ve been a few times now and never seen it as busy as on your visit also 70min wait for Crazy Loop is ridiculous, I wouldn’t have bothered as it’s definitely not worth that wait time 😆

Unfortunately the operations at that park have never been great, I have had a few friends that work there and they all felt unsafe as lack of staff. The park is great and I would recommend it for the rides but safety isn’t their priority there and unfortunately one day a staff member or public member will get hurt. This needs to get sorted before it gets to that stage

This used to be my local theme park, I do miss it but now Alton Towers is my local so it's not all bad. I've never seen it so busy even in high season!

Not a theme park, just a cheap fair with disillusioned and poorly trained staff. I will never visit this place again after an accident this year. Go somewhere else........anywhere else.

Just imagine if McDonalds shut their restaurant for 20 mins so the staff got their break and left people in the drive in queue. There would be serious civil disorder. Of course the staff get their breaks but put relief staff on to cover it.

I have a brilliant recommendation for you. You and Charlotte could go to manorafton farm in abergele it has lots of GOATS and a castle and onsite campsite. You can even feed the GOATS. Apparently, I'm not too sure but I'm a celebrity filming crew will be taking there so for now it's closed but you can go maybe when it reopens again. I lived your tir Prince video. I've been on the Miami wave and after that I usually go to manorafton farm.

This park has gone down the pan half rides closed told they have a weather warning in place and if the rides shut you have no refund and do we want to carry on with our purchase but when you have travelled three hours to get here then your not going to say no luckily wait time on the rides operating we’re good and the rain stayed light so kids enjoyed it but I feel it does need investment but I suppose with no money coming in for over a year has hit them big fingers crossed for next year we were here October 2021

Those Waltzer cars have a great lighting package! I'd ride them just for the light show! Bet they cost a fair bit! Shame the park didn't invest a little extra staff to cover breaks instead, I understand they need to make money but would they be happy to pay out compensation if/when an avoidable accident occurs?? Like you said Shawn, it's the ride operators that are facing the brunt of the criticism and that is not fair!

That ghost train looks ace - very good theme scares + sirens / klaxons and the theme park price should include all attractions including go-karts and big wheel especially they charge lot of the entry price. Not so good is the operations at the park as mentioned by your good self - no cover for breaks and not enough staff on some of the rides and this could potentially put tired hard working staff in danger along with members of the public

It's worth a visit for Astro Storm and Terror Castle alone. Alot of parks have misjudged attendance, near me Legoland and Chessington are seriously overcrowded too (more than normally for summer). Don't write off Brean!

Hey Shawn not sure if your aware or not...but the Terror Castle ghost train used to be at Frontierland in Morecambe. My uncle was part of the team to take it apart when Frontierland closed before it was then bought (and much improved) by Brean. I used to ride it often as a kid :)

I went on Wednesday and it was absolutely rammed, buying a wristband was impossible so we just got tokens. Not many people were wearing masks which was concerning. Rode 3 rides in an hour and said ‘screw this’ and went over to Funland at the Tropicana (which was great)

It actually has a decent collection of rides, it's pretty packed in there. It opens in February and is only 10 mins down the road so we go then for the first coasters of the season and it's completely dead. You get loads of rides in. The service levels have always been pretty shocking there though so your experience doesn't surprise me at all. It's the same in the adjacent Brean Splash (minus the naked lady and copyright infringement vinyls everywhere). You should pop on there too on your next visit, a couple of notable slides. Grand Pier, Funland @ Tropicana, Brean TP and Brean Splash can all be done easily in a day. From my numerous AT visits, it's only about 2 hours 15 from Stoke.

Perhaps these small seaside parks are more interesting for theme park enthusiasts in the UK. For me it is mostly just a bunch of fair attractions you can find allmost anywhere. Of course you can have a lot of fun in these parks, but to be honoust I doubt if these parks are really suitable for a high quality vlog. I know we have been spoiled with your vlogs from all over the globe and that Covid restrict possibilities in a big way, but quality takes always precedence over quantity. But beside of that, keep up the good work. You are without a doubt one of the most enthusiastic theme park vloggers out there. I just saw wild mouses and drop towers enough ;-).
