Thank you for these solo videos! This one looks fun, and just the kind of quick RnR I enjoy. And the campaign mode looks well-thought out and a nice challenge. Looking forward to it being released soon

Yay! Another solo review from Maggie. I love all of Thinker Themer videos, but these are a nice treat as someone who solos quite a bit. I have the RR pnp, but have not tried it yet, because Im currently reading the instructions for Black Sonata for my next solo endeavor and learning Beyond the Sun to teach. Last night my daughter requested a quick game before bed, but I was busy cleaning and we had already played Clue Museum Caper earlier. She said it would be quick and pulled Spot It off the shelf. I said, you know you can solo that. What? How? Grab a timer and try to beat your matches score each round. She was ecstatic and played 6 times before bed. Sometimes you just want to play and you don't want to wait around for other people to be available- solo to the rescue.

This is such a lovely thing to read! I loved to hear about that discovery of solo mode! 🥰 And Black Sonata is such a clever implementation. And a very creative idea for a game theme too!

This is becoming my favorite channel, such great content! Also, big thanks for looking into the solo side of gaming, so glad I don't have to figure it out (as Rodney says) "on my own"!

I LOVE this game, it's one of my favorite solo games (even as a print-and-play) and I see that the production copy does not disappoint. Stonemaier Games is always top notch and, wow, those dice are lovely and huge!! I can't wait to roll them. And the campaign mode looks amazing. This is the first I'm seeing it in action, so thank you! Also, what a great design idea. Stonemaier can make single card expansions for the new games they publish. It would be inexpensive, easy, and a great way to keep this game relative over time. Thanks Maggie for these solo reviews! My favorite channel keeps getting better and better.

Sorry I'm so late to this reply! And yes, the dice are nice and big. Quite fun to roll. And great point about how it can easily be expanded to include new Stonemaier productions as it would only be a card for each new game. The markers it came with are also by FAR, the BEST dry erase markers I've ever used. Really satisfying. 😄

Another great solo review! I am looking forward to this one getting released! Love the idea of a mini golf campaign! I never played the PNP of this one but will be doing the preorder based on your review for the solo campaign. It sounds like something I would enjoy even though I haven’t played all the games in the realms. And those dice…they look huge! What size are there? Does it say? Maggie you are doing awesome on these solo reviews! Thanks for taking the time to do them! I am always excited to see an extra video pop up from my favorite board game content creators!

Thank you Darlene! Sorry I'm so late to this reply. I'm having a great time with these solo reviews. And yes, the dice a quite big. Makes it easier for everyone around a table to see what got rolled, but not as useful when playing solo I don't actually know official dice sizes, but I'd say it's probably double the size of a regular one.

Happy to see another solo video. I'm still trying to decide if I want to purchase this game. The solo campaign mode is winning me over. Thanks for the review.

So the game is an advertisement for other Stonemaier games? Sheer brilliance!

Absolutely! haha it made me want to play the ones missing from our collection!

Thanks for this. I wasn't sure if this would interest me but the way you described the solo mode sounds very creative. I'm wary though. Wingspan, Pendulum, and even Tapestry have been a miss for my wife and me. We love Roll & Writes so this one may be one to get.
@ThinkerThemer3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think that if you like roll & writes you may dig this. The nod to the other games will make sense since you've played them, but not enjoying them shouldn't affect this. It's a nice quick R&R. Perfect filler. 👍

So, I haven't seen the physical version yet, but I played the free P2P version for a while last year. I think that this particular game would have been Amy's to review, it has a lot more mechanics than theme. I personally believe this is probably the best title coming from Stonemaier lately - I consider Pendulum and Red Rising as not necessarily poor games, but there is nothing to impress there. Rolling Realms has some very clever mechanics and nice Easter eggs for those who know Stonemaier's games. Maggie did increase my interest because of the solo mode, it looks very interesting and cleverly designed so I will probably give it a try. Overall, it is a nice little puzzle, which plays quickly but has some depth. It will be mostly a time-filler, but one of the good ones, like Ganz Schon Clever, for instance.
@ThinkerThemer3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree with the Easter eggs for those who know Stonemaier games. Such a nice touch which I really think makes this feel special. And definitely a perfect filler game 👍

I'm glad to hear your enthusiasm for this game, especially the campaign mini golf bit, but not much is grabbing me. It sounds fairly extensive(for a roll n write), which is the thing that makes me want to try it, but the theme isn't super enticing. Hopefully I can cross paths with it and give it a go and be proven wrong. You did a beautiful job explaining the premise and thanks for the review!
@ThinkerThemer3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Ania! Yeah, there's no real theme in this one. Some cute nods to how other Stonemaier games play, but all and all a fairly straightforward roll & write. The thing I found intriguing was all the clever ways they made the challenges which felt like it multiplied the puzzle experience. It's available as a print & play as well. It was designed so it could be played multiplayer remotely so I wouldn't be surprised if we see some live streams for real-time play coming up.🥰
@MamaWaffles3 жыл бұрын
@@ThinkerThemer I didn't know it was a print and play, so thank you for bringing that to my attention! So once we get our whole printer situation figured out, I should try it. Thanks again!

What I like about the solo modes, I can play the game piecemeal (i.e., 1 round instead of 3)
@ThinkerThemer3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, absolutely. You can make it as short or long as you feel like. Same with the holes/challenges in the campaign mode. You can try it once to get a feel for the challenge.. some holes actually force you to stop suddenly (immediate fail) if you don't meet certain conditions. So that can speed it up as well.. at least for me

The lack of player interaction is its strength and its weakness.

I really love wooden components so it's not hard to see how Viticulture (one of my gateways into the hobby) had me hooked from the first play! So many wooden bits!!💕
