Is the hard gel going to lift up the ingrown toenail? Can acrylic be used instead of hard gel? Also, does it matter if the ingrown toenail is deep inside of the skin and created redness? I am tempted to just cut it out.
@corref20826 жыл бұрын
Great job! I see you do this nail reconstructions with gel or acrylic interchangeably. What is the criteria for using one over the other? I am intrigued. Thanks again. I am sure you got a very specialized training. You know far more about nail and skin than a regular trained nail tech.

Hi! Love your videos! I have a similar issue as your client in this video, & I was just wondering if they're is anyway to fix the nail at home without acrylic? I have have bad ingrown toenails & before I watched your videos I wasn't fully educated on how to treat it so I've trimmed my nail to short & they don't grow without breaking off!

Hey Lori, what’s your take on removing toe hair during pedi service?? I’ve seen some salons quick zip over the toe tops with disposable razors without asking, kind of just taking it upon them self’s.. I know when I do leg waxing I always do the toes as well, and when I do men’s haircuting I always clean up the hair in/on the ears without question, but never toes during a pedi, not sure why.. what is your take on that? Also- never see you do a French pedicure, I would Iove to see that!!
@meticulousmanicurist7 жыл бұрын
I have a French pedi in the video list :) It is against state board to use a razor on clients. Anyone doing that should stop immediately. People don't really care about the hair on their toes. No one sees it and they will shave it in the shower if it bothers them. It doesn't bother me al all. I offered waxing on toes but no one ever wanted it so I stopped offering. I have a full cosmetology license so I legally can wax toes but nail techs are not licensed for waxing. If a complaint is filed they could lose their license and the salon insurance would not cover any damages. So any nail tech waxing should also stop. A few extra dollars is not worth losing your career over. All the nail only salons offering eyebrow waxing are also breaking the law. A salon licensed for nails is not licensed for waxing. So anyone who did hold a cosmetology license could not legally wax in the nail salon. And a nail only salon can not have a full cosmetology establishment license. Great question thanks for asking :)

The Meticulous Manicurist Nail Tutorials so someone can't do nails and wax in the same salon?
@ajallday2477 жыл бұрын
E E sure you can but you need proper licensing.... I have a “Cosmetology” license so I am able to do hair, wax, nails and facial services too.. I know it’s different in every state but I’m in NJ..then my boss, the owner of the salon, has a salon license too that allows certain types of services in her business. Around here there are a lot of nail only salons, and when you have a “nail tech” license you NOT legally able to do waxing services under that license. But someone like myself who has Cosmetology license that is broader you can..
@emmae99247 жыл бұрын
Amy Duque so if you all need licensees and the non licensed salons exist, how?
@meticulousmanicurist7 жыл бұрын
E E only an aesthetician or a cosmetologist can do waxing a nail technician cannot do waxing and less they hold a cosmetology license however most nail technicians only have a nail technician license. The salon the aesthetician or cosmetologist work in must also be licensed as a cosmetology establishment in order to do waxing. A nails only salon is not a licensed cosmetologist Ablish meant it only holds a limited license.

Lori your videos are great and I’m so glad you have covered this because I have this very same issue. I can never get my nails over the hump so to speak. I have had this done but then the issue I run into that nails don’t grow attached to the nailbed and I get scared that I will get fungus. Will the nails eventually attach with continued growth or has that skin not had nail growing over it for so long that it will never attach?
@meticulousmanicurist7 жыл бұрын
If the nail is not attached you may have a fungus. You can send me a photo now in the community section of my channel. I will let you know if you should get something to treat the fungus.

Do you have any recommendations on how to find a similarly meticulous manicurist in my area?
@meticulousmanicurist7 жыл бұрын
You will need to call around and ask how much experience they have. You should also go into the salon and check out the space to see how you feel about it. Ask to meet the nail tech. Tell them you are looking to change salons and see where the conversation takes you. You will know if you will click with them or not and get a sense for how serious they take their craft. Is this a job or a career for them.

Thank you so much for your reply! I am looking for someone to help with ingrown toenails and damaged/overly trimmed cuticles. Do you have any tips or suggestions on what to ask or look for in finding a technician I can trust with this?
@ajallday2477 жыл бұрын
Thanks for another video Lori!! I find them so helpful and informative.. what is that whitish almost “dehydrated” looking spots that sometimes we see on clients’ nail plates.. clients ask me and sometimes I’m not sure how to answer..some times it’s something that can come off with just a little light buffing, but most times that is not the case though, and it isn’t something that can be removed..

Amy Duque I explain it's the equivalent of split ends, mild superficial damage. Not harmful or dangerous

I do :) check out this video. It will never stop splitting once it gets the ridge in it but you can prevent it from ripping by getting a patch of acrylic on it watch this vid 👣 Pedicure for Men Tutorial Ripped Toenail Transformation Hard Gel Nail Repair ✔ kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXaph2awjbV3ppI

I have a question! Is there any way to change the general shape of your toenail? I don't mean the free edge, but one of my sidewalls of my big toe fans out to the side, and I can taper the free esge by filing so it looks slimmer, but my toenail is so wide. Is there a way of filing, footcare, cutting it in to slim the shape?
@meticulousmanicurist7 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can train your nail to get the curve back in it. You have to apply an acrylic patch to the back half of the nail and let it grow out. The acrylic will hold the nail in the more narrow position and help create an altered nail groove for the nail to stay in. You will have to re apply the acrylic to the back of the nail every few months until it is where you want it.
