I have long thought that Putin’s best historical analog is Benito Mussolini. This video is one of the best I haven seen that brings out the parallel. The military is vastly corrupt, the generals having been selected solely for loyalty. Many of the high ranking leaders are little more than civilians in a uniform. Logistics and training were neglected, so the army found itself in a quagmire from the start (both literally and figuratively). I have no idea how this war will end, but I am sure it will not end anytime soon. But now, when he's losing, he whines about Ukraine sending missles into Russia, and taking some Russian land. Its like a kid beginning to lose a game and trying to alter the rules so they can't lose. Even if Russia wins by some miracle, Russia has lost its prestige as 2nd most powerful nation in the world, its weak military has been revealed, its relationship with China has been strained, its economy has been crippled, and NATO is prepared and confident that they can bring Russia down. China is now the only possible military threat to NATO due to their population and will to moderize unlike Putin, who's about to end up like Tsar Nicholas 2nd. Even then, China can't take on NATO & India, who'd likely join to get back at China and end its rival. Good job Russia, you've succeeded in the comedy industry!

The Kievan Rus', a medieval state that existed from the 9th to the 13th centuries, is often considered the birthplace of the broader Russian, Ukrainian, and Belarusian cultures. Kievan Rus' was a powerful federation of Slavic and Viking (Varangian) territories centered around the city of Kiev, and it is where the foundations of Eastern Slavic culture, Orthodox Christianity, and early statehood were laid. In 988, Vladimir the Great, the Grand Prince of Kiev, adopted Christianity from the Byzantine Empire, which shaped the future of the region's religious and cultural identity. However, after the Mongol invasion in the 13th century, Kievan Rus' fragmented, and power shifted north to cities like Moscow. It was from Muscovy (the Grand Duchy of Moscow) that the modern Russian state eventually emerged, leading to the formation of the Russian Empire in 1721. So Kiev should be the capital of Russia, with Zelensky being the president. 🤣
@williamzk9083Ай бұрын
When Ivan the Terrible became Tsar he forced everyone to call themselves Russian (Including Muscovites), Peter the Great then banned the teaching of Ukrainian language. Catherine the Great even banned both the printing of books in Ukrainian and the importation of books printed in Ukrainian. The laws relaxed a lttle in 1906 but remained in place till 1917 when Russia was defeated by Germany and forced to sign the armistice of Brest Litrovesk which freed up Finland, Belarus, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Eastern Poland. The Coomunists and Stalin reconquered kost in the next 20 years.

The biggest blunder was not reading Sun Tzu (sometimes called Sunzi). The first chapter of The Art of War covers honestly assessing your forces, including the state of military equipment, the loyalty of generals, the morale of soldiers, realistic numbers, and so on. It also includes studying the enemy leaders and generals, their assets, their allies, et cetera. Then, chapter two covers LOGISTICS. Total failure to follow just the first two chapters of Sun Tzu's book doomed him, before the fighting even started! On the other hand, it is obvious that Ukrainian leadership not only are familiar with Sun Tzu's book, they also seem to be following strategies from Sun Bin's works, as well. The invasion of Kursk and Belgorod is textbook Sun Bin.

@MrArrow54Ай бұрын
@@thumtlnguyen3626 Yes they lost. Pulling out before achieving a victory is losing even if they never lost on the ground. Armies represent their country. If their country has no taste for violence and forces that army to retreat before they can achieve victory that is a loss. If russia was on the verge of victory but the citizens rebel and force them to end the conflict that would be a russian loss even if they were winning before the withdrawal. The reason for that generals comment is that he's salty he lost when he felt he should have won.

Three mistakes 1. Taking Crimeia 2. Invade Ucrane 3. Thinking he can win the war 😅

If ruSSia had limited itself to Crimea, they might ultimately have gotten away with it.

America pulled out of Afghanistan because they were of the belief that Russia was about to invade Ukraine. This would greatly complicate their response so, the US brought home their troops.

Obviously this is on Putin and his advisers. But there’s another big factor. In 2014 he did a trial run of this in Crimea. And the west shrugged. The US had a ban on even selling them weapons until Trump rolled that back in 2018. If a thief robs a store and the cops say “so what”, he’ll probably come back for more another day.
