Late to noticing your reaction, the one fun fact I have to share that’s possibly already been divulged is that during the filming Robin walked around San Francisco as his Mrs. Doubtfire character, one of the places he went into in character was a sex shop inquiring about the items inside. Hilarity ensued as it wasn’t initially grasped by the workers at the shop that it was Robin. Oh and as long as we’re recommending Robin Williams movies, you should really check out Awakenings… it is based on a true story and as a warning it isn’t a comedy, but it really shows how great Robin was as a serious actor as well, even in his early days when that pretty much all he was k own for. It also stars a young Robert DiNiro…

Something I always loved about the movie: Pierce Brosnan's character is actually a really nice guy. He's not mean to the kids or to Miranda, or even to Mrs Doubtfire. He's a perfectly nice, charming man who'd be perfect for Miranda. I just bring this up because it's so easy in these kinds of 'couple having trouble' movies to introduce a potential new love-interest, only to have them be such a total asshole that it'll never happen. I love that not only do Daniel and Miranda not get back together, but Stu is a perfect guy to 'replace' Daniel. It helps cement the ending where Daniel and Miranda don't get back together, because they DIDN'T work as a couple.

Liar Liar did the forced get back together thing and it genuinely weakens the movie and Audrey's character. Fletcher had cheating on Audrey throughout their marriage, confirmed by her line to him, "When we were married, I wasn't having s*x NEARLY as much as YOU were." Why would it make sense for her to get back with a guy like that? Plus, the guy Audrey's was seeing (forget name, Cary Elwes' character) wasn't a bad guy. It makes no sense that she'd take Fletcher back when clearly she knows there are better guys out there.

Watching you react to them for the first time, in most cases, is really refreshing. Greetings from Munich, Germany. Regarding your question about doing different voices. My parents divorced when I was 6, in 1992. A year later Mrs. Doubtfire was released. I grew up on this movie. And with Robin Williams. Robin's character in this movie was a lot like my dad. Imperfect, funny, and loved spending time with me. Even had the hairy arms. And although divorced, made the effort. He wanted to be in my life. Both of my parents did. I'm lucky in that way, not every kid's parent wants to be in their life, but mine did, even though they didn't like each other anymore. I'm 38 now. My parents are no longer here. I miss them every day. I have their wedding album, for when they first were married in 1974, when they were in their early 20s. Full of life, laughing together. I like to think of them that way. I miss Robin too. When he passed, the little girl in this movie Mara Wilson, who is all grown up now, had a blog where she talks about this time with Robin, and I remember this quote from her blog, "“If you can affect someone when they’re young, you are in their heart forever. It is remarkable how many lives Robin touched, and how many people said, just as I had, that he reminded them of their fathers. I suppose - could I really end this any other way? - we’re all his goddamn kids, too." RIP Mom, Dad, and Robin.

Mrs. Doubtfire is undoubtedly one of the masterpieces of comedy. I remember watching the movie for the first time around the time it was released when I was about 9 or 10 years old. I laughed so hard at some scenes that it was almost necessary to call an ambulance. At the same time, the film conveyed a serious message, which was presented in an extremely warm and hopeful way. All the actors cast in the movie deserve full marks. The child actors were amazing, but the heart of the film is, of course, the comedic genius and source of endless joy, Robin Williams. Many of even the smaller scenes in the film were shot up to 30 times, and with each take, Robin brought something new, as he had an inexhaustible supply of ideas. The restaurant scene that culminates the movie was reportedly filmed over nearly three weeks. The scene where Daniel performs different voices for family court supervisor Mrs. Sellner was reportedly shot up to 80 times. Robin Williams could have improvised endlessly with new voices, and although the excellent supporting actress, the late Anne Haney, managed to keep an incredible straight face as Mrs. Sellner, undoubtedly many takes ended up in the trash due to laughter.

But if you've got the right artist and have no access to CGI. You can transform a person (safely) into someone or something else entirely unrecognizable. It's my favorite aspect of theater and theatre. My favorite effect to put on someone is bruises. The make-up palates for bruises and different injuries are so pretty and wide-ranging. Not to mention the person looking like they just went through hell to make the audience feel something. To me, that is what theater is. A common aspect of these films, including Mrs. Doubtfire and Good Morning Vietnam, is the remarkable ability of Robin Williams and the screenwriters behind him to fuse drama and comedy so naturally and meaningfully. It's a testament to a mature literary approach that takes seriousness and humor as complementary. The best humor often comes from a dark place, allowing us to face otherwise hard subjects with greater ease. Contrast that with so much writing now that just forces "un-seriousness" for the sake of it with no sense of context or realistic balance. Definitely part of a larger American cultural shift, but I'm grateful we have had so many great works and a good portion of them thanks to Williams.

This was a really great movie that meant something to me as a kid. My mom died when I was 7, and for a while I was kind of jealous and bitter when I was around families that were still together. But the message at the end about there being all kinds of different families, and love being the key. really helped me to feel better about my situation. For a little while, I watched this whenever I was sad about my life. It really did help a little bit along with all the other help I was getting from my dad and in therapy. Looking forward to what's next! ✌🤓 MILD SPOILERS FOR "GOOD MORNING VIETNAM": "Good Morning Vietnam's" comedic bits did not age well. It's very referential comedy, and a lot of the jokes require that you know about pop culture from WAY before my time and probably yours. So a lot of the comedy just doesn't hit anymore. That's the problem with comedy based on what's popular at the time. Those references get old and eventually viewers don't get it anymore. I still recommend watching it, because it's still a good story and Robin WIlliams is always entertaining, but the comedy Isn't all that funny when you don't get 80% of it. Fortunately, from what I've seen, most of your viewers seem supportive and reasonable, so hopefully they'll understand that the humor is outdated. I was really shocked when another reactor was recommended "Good Morning Vietnam," didn't understand the jokes and thus had a very mixed opinion of the movie, and then the comments were FILLED with hate about respecting the classics, and being too dumb to get it, etc. Some people really need to adjust their attitudes. Some of the "classics" just don't hit with modern audiences. They're just too outdated to have the punch they used to for a variety of reasons.

39:41 - brings a tear to the eye when he says "bye, bye"...such a great loss to humanity was the legend of Robin Williams! I heard he used to hire homeless people as extras wherever he was filming and he helped out around 1,500 homeless people! In this shitty day and age where everyone has something to say and gets offended by everything, this man had the most gentle soul and did nothing except spread joy throughout the world! If only he knew how much he was loved maybe he'd still be here...💔😢 I grew up watching this film and watching it grown up hits different too because you get and see things that you'd never see as a child watching it! My parents divorced when I was around 8 or 9 and it was a messy one! Even as young as I was I wanted them to separate because of the constant, and sometimes violent, arguing... the fact that they don't get back together makes it much more realistic especially when he says... "Oh, my dear Katie. You know, some parents, when they’re angry, they get along much better when they don’t live together. They don’t fight all the time, and they can become better people, and much better mummies and daddies for you. And sometimes they get back together. And sometimes they don’t, dear. And if they don’t, don’t blame yourself. Just because they don’t love each other anymore, doesn’t mean that they don’t love you. There are all sorts of different families, Katie. Some families have one mommy, some families have one daddy, or two families. And some children live with their uncle or aunt. Some live with their grandparents, and some children live with foster parents. And some live in separate homes, in separate neighborhoods, in different areas of the country - and they may not see each other for days, or weeks, months… even years at a time. But if there’s love, dear… those are the ties that bind, and you’ll have a family in your heart, forever. All my love to you, poppet, you’re going to be all right… bye-bye..." ❤❤❤❤

I enjoy Robin Williams too. Here are some suggestions of lesser known RW movies but all are very good. 1) Bicentennial Man - A sci fi comedy/drama based on the writings of Issac Asimov. Very thought provoking and timely. 2) Awakenings - Drama based on a true story. Also stars Robert de Niro. 3) Noel - An excellent Christmas movie starring Susan Sarandon. Robin plays a critical part in the movie but for some reason his role is not credited. Also starring Penelope Cruz, Paul Walker, and Alan Arkin. Seemingly unrelated character crises prove to be interconnected resulting in an emotionally satisfying resolution. Penelope Cruz does a little dance that any heterosexual man on the planet would find irresistible.

Not sure if you've seen Good Will Hunting, but it's one of Williams' best serious roles. He is absolutely perfect in it, and it's an amazing film.

Great reaction. It's a great comedy, but also a great family drama. It deals with tough but important issues in a hilarious and touching way that anyone can appreciate, but that even a kid as young as Maddie could understand.

If you enjoyed seeing Robin Williams as the host of a kids' show, you should totally watch Death to Smoochie. It's got a VERY different vibe, but it's got another Robin Williams take on childrens' television.

I saw this in the theater when it came out and had to remain sitting for a while after the ending. There was no chance of reconciliation between my parents. But it was meant to be a part of my life. Even if I had the power to change one part of my past it would have a profound impact on my life today. It was necessary. I was very lucky to watch most of Robin Williams' early success even before this movie and I truly thank God for that. I look forward to any more RW content you might add. The only way I can be sure to see it is if I hit subscribe and notifications. I'm sorry, but you're now stuck with me. Take care, Miranda

You are fun to watch movies with...and you don't cuss! Thank you....I just subbed.💗 This masterpiece is timeless! The acting was gr8, humor and soundtracks on point and a phenomenal message! I look forward to you reacting to some other gr8 flicks with top notch acting like "MAID IN MANHATTAN" with Jennifer Lopez , "BLAST FROM THE PAST" staring Brendan Fraser and "THE BUCKET LIST" Staring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson.

"What Dreams May Come" is a serious tear-jerker you must see, as well. Although it's all drama, no comedy. "The World According to Garp ", well, it's just plain weird.
This one came out shortly before my parents' divorce and as a kid this movie helped me cope with it a little better. No, they don't get back together and even though that made the ending bittersweet I'm so glad they went with Robin Williams' and Sally Field's advice and changed it to its current ending. Even though it hurts, it's much more real.

Hey, a fellow Ohio resident! I used to live near Cleveland and graduated high school a little further south! This movie was so great, I had it on VHS when I was younger. (Yes, I'm THAT old.) Nice to see someone love it as much as I did!😊

There were several voice actors that worked on Tom and Jerry, but I met the guy that did many of the voice sound effects and ambience effects on the series throughout the 60's and 70's. I don't remember his name. He was probably in his late 60's or early 70's, and that was in the early 80's. It was a showcase performance and I was backstage. And as a kid it was sooo cool to hear those sounds in person!

12:41 actually no. I've listened to the commentary on this movie. When he's doing the voices, they ran through a whole roll of film (about 10 minutes) and just let Robin Williams riff. She didn't even crack a smile. I think she might have broken after they called cut. Then during editing they weren't sure what to do with it because it was hilarious, but leaving the whole 10 minutes in killed the pace. They actually got the idea to do the jump cuts from the trailer. Several other scenes Chris Columbus would have them film it once as-scripted, then give Robin Williams and the other actors an hour to improvise.

I watched this movie in cinema and as a kid i loved it. However, the more times you watch it, the more you will realize, this is NOT a happy movie. Its a really spot on depiction of breaking up and the problems around it. With any other actor, this movie would be dark or even downright depressive. I recommend the reunion video here on YT sadly without Robin Williams, but even after 30years they are so sweet to another

It means SO MUCH to see someone react to the movie that initially inspired me to start acting in such a genuine, emotional way. Mrs. Doubtfire is Robin Williams at his finest! This was the first movie I saw more than once in theaters. After I saw it with my friend I dragged my mom to see it with me because she is a huge Robin Williams fan and I didn't want her to miss it in theaters.

I grew up watching Mrs. Doubtfire as a kid and seeing this again actually hurts me because Robin Williams is no longer with us. Actually, I saw the movie with my mom, and you don't imagine how much this movie made me cry especially with the ending, which was so beautiful. After watching Mrs. Doubtfire, I told my mom "Sometimes I wish someone could have saved Robin's live", while I couldn't hold back tears. By the way, thank you for making this movie reaction.

This is probably my favorite Robin Williams movie. It runs the gamut from hilarious to heartbreaking. I know the ending is not what you expected, but I think it was real; Daniel and Miranda could not stay married, but they could become friends who happened to have kids. And they both can go ahead with their careers and ultimately their lives. So glad you enjoyed it.
