He urinated at some point during the walk home or in the greenbelt (disheveled pants), got injured while attempting to climb the fence (bloody hands and one shoe came off), yelled for help when he fell or couldn't get over, climbed back down the embankment with a possible head injury and fell onto the roadway below in a highly intoxicated state. Either attempting to climb down or just walking straight off the top of the retaining wall not knowing any better. It's hard to see why this case would garner so much attention other than his admirable profession. Unfortunately, alcohol alone explains a majority of what happened that evening. RIP and condolences to the family as he was a good father. I think everyone has a moment in their life where they could have become a victim of circumstance.

Such a sad end. This is probably exactly what happened. So tragic, and especially for someone affluent enough to own two homes, why not just call a cab? Sadly, when you're drunk you just cannot accurately estimate your own abilities or limitations, and this often leads people to make unwise decisions. Even though booze is legal, it's easy forget what a powerful and debilitating drug it can be, and how quickly we can unconsciously overindulge when having a fun night out with friends. RIP Chris, and condolences to family and friends.

I was thinking all those same thoughts. In my college years I made several rather lucky escapes from a similar fate. Yeah we climbed over fences and paid the price with bloody hands and sometimes even broken bones. When you live hard, you die young. "crisis centre" is code for inpatient mental health facility. It might not be that unusual to A) hear people crying for help around the building, or B) for patients to hear things that aren't actually there.

I've never heard someone specifically calling for help, but I have heard people screaming and crying in the middle of the night when I lived next to a university's Greek Row. I would look out my window or go out my front door and look around to see if I could see the person screaming. I never did. It was a hilly campus so the screaming could've come from anywhere, so I felt stupid calling the police to report it when I didn't even know where it was coming from. I could see this person thinking it wasn't worth calling the police for, though honestly if I heard someone specifically crying for help I likely would've called anyway even if I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Idk, I wish this person had called anyway, but I do understand why they didn't.

I've watched a few videos on it. Something that always bothers me about supernatural situations is if they were preceeded by something in pop culture. In that case there was. It bore a strong resemblance to the Kolchak film The Night Stalker where a cocktail waitress is discovered dead on an industrial site (Quarry? It's been forever since I've seen it) with no prints anywhere near the body. This doesn't necessarily mean that it was hoaxed, or that no supernatural event occurred. Just that there is source material for someone to pull from to make an elaborate murder.

This is essentially my neighborhood. I have no memory of this case from the news, which is weird. I will say that the area where he was found is a complete mess of elevated highways and roads and pedestrian walkways over them, and yes, lots of fences and steep drops. So lots of actual accidents waiting to happen to a heavily intoxicated person. But I could also easily believe he was the victim of a crime, as there are a lot of desperate people, as well as actual criminals, in any city, and unfortunately late nights and intoxicated people are an opportunity for them.

The incision where the wedding ring should be is a telltale sign of someone using a knife to pry the ring off. Two back of the head impacts is telltale of an assailant striking the back of someone's head (generally when you fall backward and hit your head you stay there, you don't get up and bash your head again). This sounds like he was attacked by a hobo who went for his wedding ring... hence the blood on the doctor's hands. The doc then stumbled to the highway seeking help but succumbed to his wounds.

I don’t remember what happened but my friend woke me up, he said I was more or less asleep and my head was right under the back wheel. If he would have moved the car, I would be a goner. When I was a small child, one winter there was a deep snowstorm. I was walking on a snow mound that covered a low chain link fence in a neighbours yard. the fence ripped thru my snowsuit and inner thigh. I am now 54 and still have a scar. Fences can do major damage.

When I was 14 or so, my brother and I were playing frisbee in our front yard. The thing sailed into our neighbor's yard. It was a short distance to go through the gates and ask at the front door if I could retrieve the frisbee, the polite thing to do,but the neighbour was a miserable old thing, and we always avoided them if possible. I decided I'd just jump the chain link fence and grab it pop back. Well, son of a gun if I didn't discover the hard way that those dang fences can tear right through unprotected skin!! Who knew? Anyway, 5 inch scar on my inner thigh to this day. I'm 67 now. Still remember that feeling....

There is one case that comes to mind as bizzare. June 1992. Kenny Miller, 12 years old. Disappears from the PCT near Truckee/Carson Pass while playing next to a pond when his parents walked a short distance to look at some cabin. Elevation was 8,000 feet. A CHP helicopter discovered his body at 9,800 feet in July. They couldn't land to retrieve him due to weather/wind conditions. They made a second attempt the next day and the body was gone. This boy was described as having some mental challenges and not being capable of reaching the area he was located in on his own. I would like Missing Enigma to look at this case.

@Swerv0. I don't know. I don't know if he was missing clothing or not, or how they determined he was deceased from a helicopter view. Police reports, etc, would hopefully describe some of this. I got my information from a couple of news articles. It was reported that after the CHP chopper returned and found the deceased was no longer in that location, they searched 9 more days. They didn't find anything. I forgot to mention that this occurred in California.

I know someone who tried to climb over a fence while intoxicated while walking home and his clothing got hung up in the fence barbs, and he was stuck dangling upside down calling for help. Perhaps this explains what happened here and why the doctor's clothing was undone. Maybe he was trying to free himself. Maybe he was dangling and then dropped and hit his head.

The ring finger incision puzzles me too. Ignoring robbery, perhaps he got his finger caught by the ring on the chainlink fence by one of the tines that usually are left sticking up above the top horizontal pole to discourage climbers. They can be very sharp as they are cut off at an acute angle. The head wounds make me think robbery though and in my mind its the most likely scenario. I think you're right. "Incision" has strong "deliberate/with a scalpel" connotations to the average person, but the medical examiner was using its technical definition. A wound from sharp metal is likely an incision, not a laceration, but that doesn't imply it was deliberately caused.

A thief that had already used force to incapacitate his/her victim would have no qualms with removing the skin or severing the entire finger to access the ring. Many small incidents likely happened that we'll never be privy to, but from my perspective as a former deputy sheriff (for all of 2 years) it was an armed robbery with the butt of a handgun used to render him unconscious or to get his full attention. Either way, I see the finger cut as strictly incidental.

In the end alcohol is dangerous but we accept that, and sometimes people die from it. Many do acutally, but we accept that. It is wrong to blame individuals for what is a general acceptance of a drug that has serious consequences.

Long time resident of Minneapolis here. There is absolutely zero chance that the Minneapolis PD would respond to a call reporting someone simply yelling on the street or in public. Even "help me." This is a big city; people yell at night all the time in big cities.

Truth. I live in a much smaller city than Minneapolis, in Canada. But living downtown in a mid-size city, not far from a homeless camp, I hear people screaming and yelling almost every night, to the point that I was having a very vivid dream about zombies last night, woke up, realised that I was just hearing some guy making loud zombie-noises through my third floor window, rolled over, and went back to sleep. The cops can't and won't do anything about it. As for the woman in the crisis centre, I work in the mental health field, and have liasoned with the police involving some of our patients. Their usual attitude is that if someone is an inpatient in a mental health facility, they won't believe a word they say without piles of physical evidence to back it up. It's sad but it's true. Even if she'd called for help, nothing would have been done.

I can't blame the witness at the crisis center for not getting up; I live in a smaller city than Minneapolis and I've also ignored calls for help outside. I live on a street that a lot of transients pass through, heading between county services, the methadone clinic, and the homeless shelter, so people just yell outside all the time. The only time the calls for help were ever for a real emergency was the time a guy (presumably, as I never got the details) passed out in his car on the street with his foot on the accelerator, revving the engine until something exploded. He got out and started calling for help loudly, but robotically, with no real alarm or concern, and my first thought was "do not go out there, that's bait or something". I sat up and saw flickering out the window, and the car was just going up in flames across the street while the guy wandered around. Police and fire were there in like, two minutes, and once he saw cops, the guy tried to get back _into_ the car, only for police to pull him back.

He was heavily intoxicated fell down twice. The last one is when he was relieving himself as he fell backwards, and died from his head hitting the concrete with all his weight behind him, causing his death, if only someone would’ve took care of him and made sure he got home he would still be here today. What a terrible terrible story. My heart goes out to his family.

Those injuries and his location lines up with being hit by a vehicle after he lost his shoe trying to climb the fence. Since he was unable to get over the fence, he eventually made his way back down to the highway, where he was struck , then he started yelling for help. This correlates with the timeline that the witness who heard those calls for help was after the cctv footage of him crossing and going towards the fence. The evidence at the fence showed he may have spent a little time up there before he made his way back to the highway. He was then struck by a vehicle and was yelling to get help. If you look at those injuries it sounds like he was hit from behind and then fell forward onto his hands,knees and face. Since he already lost his shoe,his foot was injured as well. I don't know how ,at the beginning of the investigation, they determine that it was not a hit and run. IDK. Love the channel. You always do an excellent presentation. And maybe since she knew of their original plan, which was to go to Ruth Criss rather than a party, she either assumed he brought his cards or had discussed it with him and he’d said he had money with him.

Also, I’ve been to company parties where the food was free, but cocktails and speciality drinks were not included, and had to come out of pocket. I can’t think of very many people who would go out and not have their wallet with cards and ID on them, even without plans of using them, so it’s no stretch to see a coworker saying that.

Martinis usually aren't like a beer or something 4-5 drinks was probably really 10 or more. Anyway, besides "drink responsibly" I think the biggest take away from this story is that if you hear someone yelling for help don't ignore it. You don't even need to investigate yourself. Just call the cops. It's their job and you just may save someone's life.

Another great piece of reporting. I worked at a premises very near the scene of this tragedy at the time, across Clifton Ave from the Nancy Page building, and am very familiar with the area. . This stretch of I-94 is extremely dangerous, with poor sight lines in both directions, and cars routinely moving at full highway speeds of 70 mph . He could easily have been struck .It’s an object lesson in the necessity of keeping pedestrians off of freeways- especially in Wintertime. The most likely scenario is that he slipped and fell while climbing over fences and guardrails. What his actual intentions might have been are unknown. He was let down by friends, in my opinion, who should have realised he was drunk and made sure he got home . Minneapolis in December is no place for anyone to be wandering around completely intoxicated at night.

They did experiments on this in the U.K for a TV show and it was pretty much the same, the injured person begging for help on the street was ignored by 99% of the people present. Having been this drunk, I can see how he was found in that state. I myself have had similar injuries to him but found myself under the loving care of friends/policemen who made sure I got back home. It's so sad to think how a decision like having a drink can cause losing control so easily but it sadly happens. Also, please keep in mind certain meds like anti depressants can double or triple the effect of alcohol in our bodies so a regular analysis of weight and drinks won't work. So sad for his family and friends.

Pants were undone? Went to pee and fell down the steep hill, hit his head on the way down..? Dazed, falls and hits it again? Fell, hit his head, was dazed and fell again? If he was mugged, why didn't they take his iPhone? And no wedding ring, pants undone..? A lady of the night with a partner in crime could also be the reason, they just left the iPhone bc it can be tracked, never used the credit cards for the same reason. From Mpls, I know the route Dr Robert travelled very well. Walking north from Uptown (Hennepin Ave So & W Lake Street) would've take him past at least 2 bars still open at that time + a couple of bar/restaurants close by in the neighborhood. It sounds to me like he stopped someplace, was turned away, & then got himself rolled (mugged) when he hit the area around Franklin Ave, just up Lowry Hill from where his body was eventually found. With nothing but Xmas party sushi to hold down the 6-8 dirty Martinis in his otherwise empty stomach he posted a huge "Rob Me!" billboard to any car or pedestrian traffic in the area --- if he fell off anything that night it was a very tall wagon. RIP Dr Christopher Robert & may God bless all anesthesiologists.

The guy was robbed. Two hits in the back of the head, to me, indicate someone trying to knock him out so they cam rummage through his pockets. I'm willing to say this occurred next to the highway, probably some homeless person or someone else, seeing a drunken man and pouncing on the opportunity. This would also explain the missing time: He was out cold ,woke up several hours later [when the woman heard him], and started calling for help. Either because he couldn't stand up, or because he was still being attacked.

Tragic accident---extreme intoxication leading to a series of events resulting in a sad and needless death. NO murder, NO ridiculous 'fall from the sky'. Riley Strain case in TN. was similar. Too bad supposed adults drink so much that they lose their lives. A doctor...husband, dad...Such a waste.

I used to live near Hennepin. This place is a bit sketchy and you wouldn’t want to be there in the dark. Honestly, I think he was taking a leak and someone smacked him over the head to rob him (not necessarily trying to kill him, but knock him out to take his ring or whatever).

Just remembered to subscribe this time, after searching your channel out specifically a few times lately beginning with probably being recommended one of your videos from all the missing 411 and disappeared/found with amnesia, videos I’ve seen. So anyway- You do very good work on your videos and here I totally agree with you, but i wish you’d said: if they did any DRUG scan on him. Seems like he got or ..took?.. some kind of benzo, depressant, or , GHB- which comes up in a lot of cases but so little places test for it… Anyway thanks for your work here and research , really appreciate your videos! You hear about the missing Iowa trucker who left a whole shipment of live pigs and his phone a ways off route from the farm? Aparently, he was found recently a few miles away from the truck in a place they searched multiple times. He originally went missing 5 months ago, I believe. Aparently, his body wasn't messed with at all by animals and wasn't very decomposed, making people wonder if his body was moved there. It's still under investigation by police I've been following the case since it's close to me.
