Excellent work as always. I went looking to see if I could find any pictures of the ship in drydock after her sea trials that showed the cut out in the bow but with no luck. So as you said maybe it was added, maybe it wasn't. I did find a picture of the crew hanging over the side after painting the false bow wave. Interesting to say the least. Looking forward to your next video.

I guess it will remain a mystery but I suppose the technology was fairly secret so maybe it’s not so strange that there are no photos of it

I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for letting me know.

Very nice work on the hull changes but interesting that looking at your video's and others that are on KZbin I am very surprise Trumpeter has missed these to me does question this kit and others kits from Trumpeter
@TheModelShed2 жыл бұрын
Trumpeter have a hit and miss relationship with accuracy David. To be fair the hull shapes are not present on any model of any scale as far as m aware.
@davidgriffiths66672 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply agree with you as I have not seen these on any other models and from the my information that I have have not them either

Thank you for the video, looking forward to the completed ship and how you get there. It is indeed both helpful and inspirational as I have the kit, the Pontos set (as well as the MK. 1) and Scaledecks deck and can't wait to begin working on it. I doubt I will take it to the level of detail you have, but perhaps I will. Regardless, it is always enjoyable watching a true craftsman working. Great job.

To secure you stand fixing screws, try “clinch nut” they install like rivets. I’ve used them very successfully for 5 Trumpeter 1/200 models.

Steve Excellent video and as always, learning and watching. I'm a very long-time, large-scale aircraft modeler (I'm 74) and look forward to each week's journey. Someday, I might even find the courage to try a ship, still much to learn. Any update on the Mossie. as I built mine when the kit was first released. Enjoying both builds immensely. Peter

Thank you Peter. The mosquito has taken a back seat to the Bismarck for a couple of weeks but I have a set of replacement stencils and I hope to do a bit more on it this week. 🤞

Your build and if you think it had those plates underneath your choice. Only chance to confirm might be the blom and voss model ? Or even look at pictures of tirpitz after capsize ?
@TheModelShed2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jerry. The capsized Tirpitz hull shows the bumps forward of the prop shafts and in line with the aft end of the bilge keels. The position matches exactly to the AOS drawings. I can’t see why two ships of the class would have different hull construction so I’m happy that they were there. I’d like to see the B&V model but I can’t find any reference to it. 👍
@jerryplews10232 жыл бұрын
@@TheModelShed i looked for images of the b&v model as well for you, but only a head on above deck seems to be available. Your model your decision and i think it is the correct decision.

There are a few Paul (Tamiya, White Ensign) but I suppose the Eduard sets are the most easily available sets. I haven’t seen or used any of them so I can’t really say which is best

Coming along! Why do you build the cage around the nut and washer instead of, e.g., putting epoxy or superglue around the outside of each?
@TheModelShed2 жыл бұрын
I just think it’s quicker and less messy that epoxy and the cage allows the nut to float a little bit to allow a bit of adjustment of the pedestals

It appears that the steel plate lines on the hull are not on the Trumpeter model. Could you mention whether or not this is the case?
@TheModelShed2 жыл бұрын
No Bill the trumpeter hull is smooth with no plate detail at all. I’m glad about that - I think trying to scribe the plates would over exaggerate them.
@jim6161 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I know what you mean. I would love to have a set of blueprints to go off. But I wonder if they survived the war. I have the Tamiya 350 th scale. So it is not as large as the one you have. But big enough to know what you meant about the hull size.

I’m surprised Pontos didn’t supply the degaussing cable.
@TheModelShed2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s a commonly recognized feature of the ship Paul - I don’t think many if any manufacturers have included it in kits
