Just watched/listened to this again. Cannot believe he could play like that when he was so inebriated. Makes me smile and happy to be alive. I was right, a few years ago, when I said the first few notes of the solo are either genius or just plain random! Great version.

George Terry's playing on this is what sets the tone for the whole song. 90% of the guitar work you're hearing most prominently is HIM, not Clapton... until Clapton's solo. His '76 Music Man Sting Ray guitar had such a unique tone.
@jonathanhines24418 ай бұрын
True. Terry was great as was this whole band. EC is still the man though. A LOT of Terry's playing was lifted from Clapton. In fairness, Clapton built his style from previous blues musicians. He expanded on it and was the first guy to play blues rooted guitar in so many styles of music. Best is just a matter of opinion, but it is arguably true that Clapton was the most influential player of the classic rock era while also expanding the reach of blues.

@@AD-BC-84 I would personally disagree with that idea of what “drunk” means. Being drunk is a spectrum, u can be mildly drunk, u can be extremely drunk. But the idea of being drunk means ur impaired due to alcohol. Clapton was 100% impaired by alcohol a lot do the times he performed

The T-Town boys rocked with Clapton ... Jamie Oldaker (drums), Dickie Sims(organ)
@janiqu3L8 жыл бұрын
Dickey Sims was the best Hammond B3 player that ever lived. So of course this band is great with Dickey enhancing every band member and all those band members just forgot all about him after his death. NOT ONE, NONE OF THEM have cared enough to even try to get Dickey what he deserves: Admission into the Rock & Roll or any Music Hall of Fame. Shame on his so called FRIENDS. EC WAS MEAN TO HIM. THE OTHER BAND MEMBERS IGNORED HIM. ONE EVEN HAD THE AUDACITY TO CALL HERE AND ASK IF DICKEY WAS "CLEAN"! Dickey ran rings around HIM AND THE REST. HE WAS GREATER THAN all of them dirty, high, or clean and sober. He was THE INTELLIGENCE in this band. When you are brilliant whose business is your personal life? His best friend was so jealous of him and kept him away from many opportunities intentionally. Then this dude needed him on his album and didn't even give him ONE CREDIT. SHAME ON HIM. HE KNOWS I KNOW AND I THINK DICKEYS "friends" except for MARCELLA were horrible to him. aND THAT BEST FRIEND'S ALBUM DIDNT DO SHIT...IT WAS A LOSER!!!! that band would have never made it without SIMS. INCLUDING EC. EC WOULD PROBABLY BE IN AN ALLEY TODAY IF NOT FOR DICKEY SIMS. AND EC NEVER HELPED HIM OR DELANEY WHO TAUGHT ERIC TO SING. NOW EC IS SICK....KARMA KARMA KARMA. DICKEY IS IN HEAVEN AS A BELIEVER AND BECAUSE HE LOVED THE LORD. HIS BAND DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THE LORD THEY SANG ABOUT. HA HA HA. DICKEY WAS TOO GOOD FOR THAT BAND. AND EC SCARES ME TO DEATH. HE IS LIKE MAFIA AND WILL PROBABLY HAVE A HIT ON ME FOR TELLING THE TRUTH RIGHT HERE. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO EC? KILL A WOMAN WHO SAW THE TRUTH AND LOVED HER MAN? NOW EVERYONE WILL KNOW WHO KILLED ME IF YOU DO OLD MAN! OLD OLD DRUG MAN...HOW DARE YOU LOOK DOWN ON THOSE WHO MADE YOU.IF RSO HADN'T FORCED YOU TO PAY HIM BACK YOU'D BE NOWHERE AND YOU KNOW IT. ONE OTHER GOOD BAND MEMBER KILLED HIMSELF BECAUSE OF EC'S ACTIONS. YET THEY THANK HIM.WHAT A WORLD. GOD BLESS MARCELLA AND CARL. SHUT UP MULLINS YOU LITTLE PUNK MALE GROUPIE WITH THE MAN-LIKE SCREAMING ANGRY WIFE WHO CAN'T WRITE ENGLISH WORTH A SHIT. DICKEY DIED AND MIKE THE GROUPY WENT AFTER STEVE. DIDN'T GET TOO FAR DID YOU?
