This seems like a good time to mention that, when Aerts learned of Hug’s untimely passing, he broke down sobbing and was completely inconsolable for over 2 hours. He then dedicated his forthcoming performance at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2000 Final to Hug. These men weren’t just rivals. They were friends and colleagues.

5:45 - 5:48, this exchange is so epic, Hug's roundhouse gets checked by aerts, they square up, Hug goes for an intercept on the jab so aerts instead throws a cross that Hug parries, then slips under aerts's left hook to land an overhand which just misses aerts's head by centimeters and then the two disperse. like two lions who recognized game. Beautiful

Man I miss those times. K-1 was awesome and these guys are legends. Hug, Aerts, Ernesto Hoost, Semmy Schilt, Glaube Feitosa, Remy Bonjasky, Jérôme Le Banner, CroCop ... it was the absolute melting pot of high level Muay Thai, Karate and Kickboxing. Loved this channel for years, especially how respectful you are towards the fighters (calling them by their surname, major pet peeve when people call them by their first. Like what you know the guy or something lol😂). 90’s kickboxing is peak combat sports; the fighters, the styles, the matchups. Hug’s my dads favourite fighter, one of the first fighters I ever watched. Hug definitely has one of the best repertoires concerning kicks.

How this video has so little views after one hour? Fuck KZbin's algorithm
@TheModernMartialArtist11 ай бұрын
I've been confused at the ctr being so low on my latest videos so I turned off notifications for this one. So far ctr is double the usual and watch time is 30 percent higher. So either there are bots ruining my algorithm or the people who frequent the sub page don't click on my stuff as much as those who use browse. I'm guessing the first, because why would my own subs have a lower ctr? I'm going to see if the video picks up in a while since the ctr is so much higher than usual. If not I can always rerelease it with the notifications activated.
@ShippyJack11 ай бұрын
@TheModernMartialArtist I didn't see this video in my subscriptions feed. I saw your survey from earlier today about mma fighters, but not this video. Came across this randomly when scrolling/browsing.
@TheModernMartialArtist11 ай бұрын
Yeah that's what I selected. It's really weird because I would expect a much higher ctr from the subscription feed. And that's the place KZbin mostly shows your video during the first hours and even the first days. But the stats are twice as good in the browse. Makes no sense. But KZbin didn't take the impressions it would have given to the sub feed and notifications and put it in browse, it just didn't give me those impressions lol So I'm going to see if it ramps up impressions with the better stats or if the video just dies. If it just flatlines then I'll upload it again tomorrow with notifications on, but not sure what to do about the weird statistics in that case.
