One year after he had been dethroned at the Rumble In The Jungle, Foreman was still reeling from his infamous loss to Muhammad Ali. So Foreman arranged a comeback fight with Ron Lyle, hoping to prove to the world that he was still the unstoppable goliath he had once been. But Lyle was no easy opponent.

Hey David, I’m sorry you are going through a really tough time right now. Of course I have no idea what it is but from my own experience and I have been through hell and back the key is never give up and never give in. Honestly my story is very inspiring I am a person that was mentally physically abused grew up in the ghetto didn’t learn how to read and write until I was 30. I was starved and I never gave up, financially I am set for the rest of my life, in the process I lost some of the most important people in my life The grief was overwhelming but I took it one day at a time sometimes one hour at a time and things got better. Never give up

Haven’t watched many fights , eh ? Frazier was a vastly more skilled fighter than Foreman boxer...Gil Clancey who trained Foreman talked about how Foreman threw arm punches and pushed his punches, he didn’t throw punches with leverage and a tremendous snap at the end, like Frazier ...Chuvalo fought both and stated getting hit by Foreman was like getting hit by a Mack truck going 30 mph, by Frazier, like a Chevrolet going 100 mph . Frazier crushed Chuvalo’s orbital socket with a left hook ...look at Ali’s face after the first fight, huge swelling on the right side of his face ...

@dondajulah4168 2 жыл бұрын
@@jayedwards1205 “didn’t throw punches with leverage”. You’re a funny guy. Hilarious. You obviously know nothing about physics and how a lever functions. And you don’t need a “snap” if you have accelerated motion which would allow you to put a dent in a suit of armor. Frazier delivered power from his feet through his core. George did not need to do that. He pulled his elbows behind his body and squared his stance because he did not fear being hit. You are completely clueless if you think Frazier could deliver a punch with anywhere close to the impact force that Foreman could.

A lot of people, even people who should know better, don't always see the skill that goes into it even when you have a puncher or brawler in the ring. @@thewandering01 the irony of all this. is foreman displayed great finesse and a soft touch. from the first second, he was moving like a bull fighter. who the hell dodge body shots like that and dances off to the side these days? you rarely see that at the elite levels of the lighter weight classes in modern boxing. one things for sure. the athletes might have gotten bigger and better but the technique isnt in the same class. the older fighters were more skilled at what they did.

What an incredible video, I can't describe the feeling I got when I saw this in my notifications. I asked Foreman on Twitter a while ago if he was scared going into this fight, and he answered "Only after I was dropped did I get scared. I thought his career was hype until I felt his power." I'm sorry to hear that you're going through a rough patch. If it helps you feel any better, I truly appreciate the hard work you put into these videos. This is one of my all time favorite heavyweight fights. The third fight of Wilder and Fury gave me immediate callbacks to this absolute savage brawl. After the fight was done, I went straight to watch this legendary back and forth. I feel like I need to tell you that this is by far the best channel for boxing/MMA breakdowns and your knowledge of the arts is second to none. I always learn something new from your videos and no matter how many times I've seen a fight, you always manage to point stuff out that I completely missed. I almost always feel motivated and inspired by your videos and it gives me the mental power to keep on training. You have done more for people than you can even imagine. I hope everything works out for ya bud. We all got your back.

It's a shame that we never got to see a rematch between Foreman and Ali. Those accusations made by Foreman in that fight seemed ridiculous at first to me but I now think that it might have some merit. We'll never know I guess. But at least Foreman was able to make a remarkable comeback. And in his 40s which is even more remarkable.

I never understood why people would not believe what George said about the Ali fight. It was obvious the ropes were so loose that George couldn't reach Alis head, and he had a 80 in. reach. Obvious a quick count with George looking at his corner, Ali not in neutral corner. Several other things to point out,,, but if people believed that Liston put something in Alis eyes(?) why wouldn't they believe George about his water? I never understood people calling these things excuses when they were so obvious and still are.

Most professional sports are " fixed". The players and referees know the outcome. It's a big ( political) business too important to be left to athletes to decide.

@@scottcooksey5284I admire Ali very much, but the fact is that at least the two Liston fights seemed fixed (most certainly the second one, before which Ali said he had a “surprise,” which he later said was his hammer punch. Of course, we all know Ali couldn’t really punch. So I have no problem believing that there was some funny business going on.

Excellent review of one of the most amazing fights I've ever watched. I still remember that fight watching it at the time. George Foreman is truly one of the great heavyweights of all time-big heart, amazing skills and power. And he even has humility, what an amazing man. Ron Lyle gave it his all that day, I have nothing but admiration for his heart as well. Best of luck in the challenges you are going through right now, as a 'seasoned citizen' I'll echo what big George has said-dig deep and you'll find it within yourself to meet any difficulties. Take care.

I started boxing at the same time I started watching your vids, and I have to say the impact they had on me was and still is immense. Nowadays, there isnt a day that goes by that I dont think about boxing, im obsessed lol. Every once in a while, I find some people on instagram using some clips from your breakdowns, and Im always in the comments giving you credit. I really think that the fact that some pages use your footage and voiceovers is a testament to how good they are. Outstanding quality on everything you do. Love love love it, so I thank you. This fight truly showed the difference between this foreman and the one to beat moorer. This foreman fought on will and instinct but wasn't very intelligent in the ring, while old George used intelligence as his biggest tool

@@-sensibleChris uh you realize Young Foreman fought intelligently as well right? Hell foreman was showcasing his Ring IQ IN THIS MATCH. Its almost like you didnt even watch the video. The man had intelligence, it was just overshadowed by his power and fighting style, which was "old school" for the time in the 1970s. What changed in Foreman (what he said himself) was that he wasnt nervous when going into fights anymore. When he was younger he was tense the entire time even before the fight which drained him far quicker. George mentioned this before during his second phase of his career

The fact that Foreman eventually won this given how recklessly he fought in the 3rd, Lyle's ademantium chin, and how many power shots that just barely missed or didn't connect quite right is bananas

What I love about *BIG GEORGE* , and why he will always be in my top 5 favorites, is how he NEVER tried to take the easy path. He should have beaten Ali, and every fighter would have taken a few tuner fights to get their confidence back after that loss. Not George. He wants to fight Ron Lyle, one of the baddest and hardest hitting heavyweights of all time. Then he goes on to fight FIVE MEN in one night next. His final chapter, George Reborn in his 40s is the best and proper

Weird, this people with Foreman fetishes ...a vastly overrated fighter, he beat Frazier and Norton, perfect foils for his style and was easily beaten by Ali and Jimmy Young, then quit ... at be time, he as viewed as a headcase, channeling his hero, Sonny Liston ... the fight with 5 journeyman boxers was an embarrassment, a circus show ...I actually watched these guys back in the day and no one missed Big George after Jimmy Young destroyed him and Georgie quit boxing
