I literally laughed out loud at the end when that chicken stuck her face in the camera. Cracked me up! I just love Lenny. He's such a polite photo bomber. I can only imagine the relief after seeing your meat birds just found new shelter! That was kind of amazing!

The chickens would enjoy picking over that buckwheat. They would clean up the bugs and enjoy some fresh greens. 💚

Boy oh boy, am I ever glad that those white chickens "decided" to stick around. 😁👍 I have 3ft tall raised beds here and I wonder if that buckwheat would work for me between plantings? 🤔 I might have to look into that. Always a pleasure to see what all y'all are up to in the WONDERFUL state of TN. Blessings, Laurel 😁

I love how Lenny lets you know he's the proud Alpha Turkey. It seems like you could plant your Squash directly in the buckwheat straw mulch layer you have laid down. Very nice update! 💗

Omg Sean. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard such a chicken story, but for sure the Bresse were looking for a more stylish home that likens to their origins. Lol. The A frame definitely has more of a French vibe.

It's cool. We had the 🔥 🥵 90°S to 105° heat 🥵 index. It's 72° with a breeze. It's great seeing young children outside running and biking while mom's walking. SE MICHIGAN 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 I found some wild rasberries by the woods and creek. Just a few ready to eat, so far. Even many birds are flying and chirping so happy. Thank GOD, you found all 8 of them. That's 👍❤❤ GREAT 👍 ❤❤❤❤❤❤. Thank youfor sharing part of your life. Always look forward to your next one. Love to your family. As we know, U.P.MARQUETTE doesn't get 90S. CIAO.

Lol, I thought I was gonna have to bring you more chicken eggs! I guess i forgot to mention that Breese are incredibly great at foraging 😂 they're not very flighty, but they will wander if given the opportunity 😊 Also definitely recommend Grey Zucchini, excellent growers and Supreme taste! Its my choice for summer squash.

When it's that hot I hang mister hose for the birds. I also move a small sprinkler around. They love getting in the damp ground after I move it. A box fan hung high at one end of your A frame would provide some circulation. Guess my birds are spoiled! 😅 The gardens and birds look good. What a bratty Bresse posse! Yay for baby 🌻! Thanks for another interesting video!

Sean, I have used rolled roofing between my raised beds. You just blow it off or sweep it with a broom. It last for years with no grass being able to grow through it. Years ago I used to use the weed barrier cloth also straw mulch to no avail. Still had grass and weeds. The rolled roofing works great. I've had mine for 10 years and it still looks good even with a few torn spots. Glad you found your birds and have lost no more chickens to predators. Try to stay cool. It's also hot here in MS and my chickens stay in the shade a lot and on those triple digit days I give them electrolytes.

Your mantra of slowly slowly is paying off.And you have learned from it as well! I'll wager you'll keep a closer eye on those little velociraptors as they grow! You are finding what works for you and your soil and it's paying dividends at harvest time. I always gardened food that I enjoyed eating, and food that was often expensive in the stores. I never had a problem with squash bugs in my area so I grew a LOT of 'em, zuchinni, yellow crookneck, and winter squash as well. never grew berries as I could pick them in the wild so easily, there was/is an abandoned blueberry farm near me and when we were young we would go and pick bushels of blueberries there, now it has become a park and everyone knows about it, volunteers care for the bushes and the moment they are ripe hordes descend and they are all gone in a matter of days! I certainly hope the turkey incubation works for you!

If you wanted more okra, you could easily fit a seed between each plant. Here in Chattanooga, we find that they grow fantastic right beside each other. Ours get 6-7 feet tall and produce a lovely amount of okra pods. I enjoy your channel.

Oh, one more tip for the heat. Take a large plastic pop bottle, cut the top few inches off so the sides are straight. Fill with water, freeze. Then put that giant ice cube in the poultry waterers. It keeps the water nice and cold, and it floats so doesn't clog the waterers. 😊

Sean, I feel the same way about my American Breese chick's. I do let them free-range several times a week. I stick rather close due to the family of raccoons who ate two of my backyard flock hens. Every few days, I get one in the live trap.

I wonder if you planted Basil or some other pungent herb between the squash plants if that would keep the bugs at bay? Great vid mate, I envy you being able to sit in front of the berry bushes having a feed. I would do the same.

I have mixed failures with hatching turkeys, this year. Only one of the first 4 eggs developed and died in shell. My turkey Henny went broody and hatched nothing and my neighbor had stolen my second hen. I got her back with the involvement of LEO. I was given 8 eggs by a friend and I put those in the incubator. That same day my Jenny hen laid an egg, and I added it, too. The incubator eggs are due Friday. Jenny's egg and only 2 others have developed. I had 2 chickens go broody in my barn and after they failed to hatch anything, I gave them 3 of Jenny's eggs each. That was 4 days ago. 2 days ago, Jenny went broody. Maybe..just MAYBE, I may get some poults, this year.

You Guys are truly awesome! That, my friend, is why I will not be able to raise my own protein When you showed me how, so young, they selected their own place to live, it rocked! I eat meat but have a typical female response to raising livestock - will be like eating my own pets as I will give them names and treat them as pets! We soon hope to go off grid and the solution to this problem will be to support our local farmers as, I'm sure you are aware of, need it seriously here in The Netherlands! God Bless and big hugs to the little lad who is sooooooooooo cute! XxxX (P:S: - I will keep chickens a couple of mini black nose Valais sheep and 2 mini goats for the fertilizer, grass mowing and sheer joy of these guys!)

Hello 👋 Sean, I don’t know if you follow the homestead shop talk podcast on KZbin w/Jason from sow the land, Ben Hollar from Hollar homestead, and Al from Lumnah acres. I watch all three channels and the podcast religiously. Ben confirmed my results with diatomaceous earth and the squash bugs, but also a product called uncle Joe’s dead bug. Dead bug is an instant elimination of them, whereas the DE is a timely process that eliminates them a little slower

Would you be referring to Captain Jack’s Dead Bug Brew? Lol. I read your comment and got excited so I tried looking it up that’s what I got and it says approved for organic gardening. I don’t get the chance to catch their podcast every time but I do enjoy their channels. Thanks for the info. I think my infestation was so great the DE is taking an even longer time to produce a result.
