About 40 homeless people on Wednesday left a makeshift tent village in Beard Brook Park in Modesto, California, and moved into a new camp under the Ninth Street Bridge near the Tuolumne River.

I was born and raised in Modesto and now live in Los Angeles. Modesto has done things right. They have given the homeless PRIVATE tents , allows them to come and go as they please, and took seriously their wishes and desires. Los Angeles should do likewise.

My Plan was to buy land to set up Storage units made into sleeping rooms, these rooms will have all the utilities needed for their needs for the Homeless. In all counties. (Like Ohio has 88, counties.)

Camping out is a little bit fun (if you have proper accommodations). One thing I think is part of the toughest thing being homeless would be. Getting enough food and water, using the restroom, staying warm in winter and cool in summer, showering, and feeling that you won't be told you have to move (like right away or in a week because camp is being cleaned up by authorities), and keeping your stuff safe from being stolen, doing laundry, etcetera (keeping your phone charged if you don't have a solar charger).

Not reasonable to hide an existing problem and sustaining the underlining issue of drug epidemic in this area. Stanislaus County Services needs to step up. Hiring more police on the streets isn't the answer obviously. I've seen a rise in Sherriffs and Highway patrol in inner cities yet the amount of junkies on the street has not been deterred. Expect more taxes in the future thru hidden polices in new laws when u get the next ballot.

I love the tents. They are just the right size and they're so cute they look like little houses. Where did you get them? Now, we just need beds, bedding and a closet polls. Great job. God bless you and your families.

Those tents are quite roomy. Better than the makeshift ones they were originally living in. At least there's no rubbish.

@Yessenia Zepeda they didn't use them. This camp didn't last a year. The "biohazard" clean up took almost as long as the camp lasted. Working and jobs gives people dignity and the money to live. Jobs are the answer.

First I would like to ask how can homeless people afford to care for a pet? Why should my tax dollars pay for dog food, free government phones, cigarettes, etc...? Beard Brook Park was a beautiful park where Boys Scouts and families would gather. Now it is closed and fenced and abused by the homeless. I worked my whole life since I was 13 and I am still paying for a roof over my head, medical insurance, etc... and they all get it for free. Never in my life have I received anything from the government. Something wrong with this picture. TG

When you retire and if you live for a reasonable length of time, you may find you qualify for food stamps and extra help on your health bills (medicare). Also, you may feel the government has given back to you then. Some people have trouble caring for themselves. Plus the number of social security deposits made to you.

Yeah, free cell phone with free service. Free healthcare, dental insurance, free food, water, housing, clothing, you name it. It’s actually pretty awesome.

This is really great.I'm very close to being homeless and this might be a option for me.I know this isn't the Hilton, but what would be awesome if there was some type of generator or power outlet.Even tho we are homeless we have free Government phones. It would be great to be able to charge them up.

There's solar-powered chargers that store energy in batteries (within them). That can be bought on the internet.

Now this would be do-able. The last video had them sleeping in concrete pipes. Just enough space for their body. Ridiculous. These seem really nice. The place is kept clean and it seems safe. Not sure what happens when the sun goes down but hopefully they all make it through this hard patch in their lives.
