Oh my f*cking goddess, after drawing for 10 years, I FINALLY found the answer to the how to accurate draw an object's shadow. Before it was just like "guess it if it looks right then it's probably right". Now it's just so easy and much less painful. Thanks so much man! You're a goddess!

I would like to point out a small flaw in this construction of perspective shadows. It is a common error perpetuated in many perspective tutorials. If the shadow is cast by the sun then the light rays would be parallel due to the sun's great distance. If the light source is an artificial one e.g. a street lamp, then the light rays can be drawn from the light source. A simple explanation is that when you move sideways from an artificial light, the light stays fixed in its position whereas if you try and move sideways from the sun, then sun moves with you. Therefore the sun rays are parallel.

Hey Themodmin, thank you for your sharing. May I ask why the VP is the section of the vertical line through the sun and the horizontal line? I mean it sure is on the horizontal line, but why it is always vertically beneath the sun? Thank you~

Oh hey Themodmin, can you please please please make a video on how to draw spiral stair case from multiple angles? I've been googling around a lot but none show up with proper narration or they skip too many steps in between that assume the viewers know everything. I would greatly appreciate that Themodmin!

Remember that the shadow of the sun is parallel. This method is applied for artificial light. If you're talking about artificial light, then this video is perfect.
Love the tutorial, thank you for the tips. The lines are too light to see very well - is it possible to use a heavier line in the future?

Hey Themodmin, how would you do the shadow of the light source itself? Like say if I have a dimly lit lantern inside a dark room, how would the shadow of this lantern look and where it would cast in the room? Thanks a tone!
@Themodmin9 жыл бұрын
its the same process. the only difference is the location of the light source, instead of it being up high.

Keep trying, I think your presentation style is good, but there are some serious technical errors with the shadow construction.
@MARIECARMEN552 жыл бұрын
Your mus8c is too loud and you hand obstructs what you are doing. You also need more narration to state the steps such as how the rays connect through the vertices of the cube.
@Alsyoutubeaccount4 жыл бұрын
None of these looks totally correct to me :/ the method might be right, but in the first one there’s a curve when all the lines should be straight, in the second one the left corner of the shadow is just off, and on the 3rd one... spheres do not vast shadows like that... it’s by far the weirdest of the 3.
@MAC-ws8fz6 жыл бұрын
On the cube's shadow...why is that one line crooked, or bent? I don't think that is correct. Also, the shadow of the ball is incorrect.
