So busy...I've always dreamed of visiting Prague 🇨🇿

I recall a wonderful trip to Prague one May Day, when it was still behind the iron curtain. Even then it was a breath taking city. Although we had to book, we visited come of the cities best restaurants, where we ate like Kings for under $1. Party officials were the only other guests who weren't so interested in the food but in exchanging tickets for shots of Johnny Walker. The May Day itself was fantastic, after the parade everyone retired to a pub, maybe as early as 10.00 in the morning, maybe one you showed? Here we found the locals remarkably free to talk about politics, including the Prague Spring and Jan Palach. We were even shown where Jan Palach had set himself on fire in the market square, then with just a few German tourists (there for the cheap beer, although some attractive local ladies clearly were in receipt of Deutsche Marks). Obviously there was no Louise Vuitton in those days. But I bought my parents a Bohemian leaded crystal decanter and glasses for less than $1, which they treasured. Like all their treasures they were declared valueless by an auctioneer when they died.
