Lance is a tactician as well as an athlete. Not all athletes are tacticians. Some are just thoroughbreds. I get the feeling Jonas is a thoroughbred and not a tactician. Pogo has more tactical awareness it seems.

I’m with Johan. JV had a plan, it didn’t work, they didn’t panic, adapted, and Jonas is still in a good position. Todays finish really wasn’t steep enough for Jonas’ style. There’s plenty of steep finishes like stage 9 for things to change. Regardless, very exciting.

Splain 😮to me how its a good plan - given Joans sits on TP and is thus able to react to his attack = he looses NO TIME vs. pulling TP and allowing for the possibility of loosing time (which he did). Might have been a plan - but its a bad plan.
@vincec3590
@vincec3590 Жыл бұрын
Actually Johan said that Jonas didn't panic when Pogacar took off and limited his time loss today. But he did say that when it was obvious that Pogacar was on better form today that Jumbo should have changed the plan and Jonas should have stopped pulling Pogacar

Plus, everytime there was somebody with Jonas. Kelderman himself already got rid of all the (remaining) helpers of Pogacar. Now, they may have Majka, Soler and Yates, but they were nowhere to be found. Jonas had Kelderman, Kuss and van Aert in front. In other words, if Pogacar would have had the slightest bit of bad luck, he would have lost minutes. TJV gambled and lost this one, but at least they tried. So many people who say that TJV is riding defensively, well, they better shut their mouths forever.....

its so funny how Lance was complaining a few years ago how the tour was so boring because Sky was racing in such a controlled and safe way , and now that Jumbo is being way more aggressive and animated he doesn't like that either. I have to say this style is far more interesting and cool ... like George says , as a fan this is the best. they are going at each other each day and it makes for an exciting race and also brings other riders into the equation which can't be a bad thing

@@robertduncker3579 Because George is not a snitcher. Hamilton and Landis are the snitchers. Mostly Landis. "Boohoo, they catched me. But look at what Lance did...." Well yeah dude, after 2005, the cycling world changed and mr. Landis thought it was still the same cycling world. A very bad loser. Losing is not the bad thing. Snitching is. He should have said: I'm sorry, I was foolish......... But no, he had to involve somebody else (Lance in this case) to justify his own wrongdoings. Lance however, it's remarkable that he came out of the 'closet'. He didn't have to. What he did for the cycling sport, what he did for the cancer community and what he did for Jan Ullrich (otherwise he would have gone on the same path as a Marco Pantani :-( outdo all his doping usage. And, don't forget. In the 90's and early 2000's they all took PED's..... Even in the '10's there were at least 2 big riders who won the Tour de France by using PED's.... Both kept their Tours and they were not banned at all..... Is it because they are from a rich country?! And look at the Eurosport GCN combo nowadays....

Lance is completely accurate. The notion that Pogacar was reaching his limits was mere wishful thinking without any basis in reality. As a result, Vingegaard ended up pulling. They thought they could put Pogacar on the floor today and didn't adjust their plan when he was able to follow on the Tourmalet and again on Cauterets-Cambasque (which, despite Wout riding an amazing tempo, was still pretty shallow climbing until the last 6 km). But hey, we get an exciting race rather than just watching Jumbo cruise into Paris simply needing only keep Jonas out of crashes.

TJV got too greedy, Vingegaard had distanced Hindley by 2 minutes and he was 53s up on Pog, great be content with that. Instead Vingegaards starts pulling way too long on the steep section on the last climb, that was not needed, he more or less set up Pog for an attack. What the hell was Grischa thinking?

It all depends on how TJV is going to do it from now (or tomorrow) on. If I would be the DS of TJV I would give free way to the attackers. The more people attack the better and preferably always somebody from TJV. In fact, if Sepp has the legs, I would send Sepp out together with either van Baarle, Van Hooydonck, Benoot or van Aert on Sunday and gain as much time as possible. Maybe he could wear the Yellow Jersey after the stage to the Puy de Dome. At least, it would be UAE who would have to do all the pulling and either Kelderman or van Aert would be the luitenant for Jonas. Screw UAE with their oil dollars. Next to INEOS the richest team in the world and their helpers Majka, Soler and Yates are screaming for their mama's when Wilco 007 Kelderman is pulling :-D
