I'm not a huge fan of borderlands but the hardcore fans are hating on this. The cast is great. Jack black is always fantastic. This movie is giving me guardians of the galaxy vibes. Looks like a good fun time. I'm planning to see this for sure. I hope it does well

Why does a microscopic moment like that, which isn't even that funny, make you think that she suddenly is worth tackling standup comedy as a medium? Your sensitivity to impression is weak, and its probably why we have people in certain places in the entertainment industry that are allowed to make Borderlands movies like this that no one will really like. I’ve been playing Borderlands since 2013 and I hate to say it, but aside from Cate Blanchett, none of the cast in this trailer feel anything like in the games. Tannis (Jaimie Lee Curtis) is a truly MAD scientist who almost never goes out in the field. Tiny Tina is supposed to be like if you took 00’s hip hop, Monster Energy, and every toy from Toy’s R Us, threw them into a blender, and then BLEW UP the blender with an absurd amount of high explosives. And Claptrap is supposed to sound more upbeat because as he says “the manufacturer made that my default tone of voice, I’m actually quite depressed”. And none of those 3 sound like that from this trailer.

I'm just not sold on the cast.....the only character that feels *kind of* close to the tone and feel of the character is Jack Black's Claptrap. Like, would I be down for just creating a relatively brand new story within a seemingly alternate-universe Pandora? Sure. But the mash up of characters they chose, alongside the really uncharacteristic casting choices just completely turns me off.

Some of my best memories of playing video games are of playing Borderlands 1 with my friends. And 2, as well, but 1 just holds a special place because it was first. No one knew what to expect, most hadn't even heard of it. It was cell shaded to save money and memory. The world was nuts, the people in it were absolutely batshit crazy, and Gearbox basically lifted, flat-out stole, the loot system from Diablo II. Borderlands 1 was the gaming equivalent of going to see the first Deadpool movie knowing only that Deadpool wore a red suit. It was that kind of "holy F***!" experience.

I might be pretty excited for this. Does it look incredible? Maybe not. However, I do feel like it captures the absurd nature of the games really well. Others have said it reminds them the new Jumanji movies, which I think is pretty accurate. And, those movies were fun. If this is fun like those were, that'd be just fine with me.

I’m concerned for this movie because Eli Roth directed Borderlands before his horror movie, Thanksgiving. This was filmed three years ago. Ariana Greenblatt was 13 at that time and she’s 16 now. Last year Deadpool director Tim Miller direct two weeks of reshoots with Eli’s blessing.

I'm definetely excited for this movie. Just listened to Randy's full break-through of this trailer and explaining, how this film adaption is going to be it's own thing. It's not tied in to the game lore, which gives the actors more freedom of putting their own stamp on the characters. Which I like! I feel a few characters were miscast, but not Lilith or Tannis. Both Jamie Lee Curtis and Cate Blanchett can do any genre and I'm sure they get to honor the characters well. Tiny Tina and Mad Moxxi both look incredible. Also gotta love the aesthetic.. The cinematography and the vibrancy of Pandora. They did incredible job with it. Looks very accurate! I was 15 years old, when I first started playing the OG Borderlands. Lilith has always been my favorite character in the franchise aswell as easily one of my all time favorite characters in general. I always picked her, but I have played as every single VH. That was a great reaction and looking forward to more reactions from you guys. 🤗

Not sure why, but I keep thinking Ariana Greenblatt would be better as Gaige from Borderlands 2 than Tiny Tina. Also played as Lilith/Roland for Borderlands 1, Maya/Gaige/ Zero for 2, Athena for Pre-sequel, and Moze for 3.

I've not played any of the games and only have a passing understanding of the setting and plot, so I can't comment on that. This movie does look fun as hell, though, and I like that the actors are getting to play against type somewhat (Hart has the stoic, sensible one and Blancett getting to cut loose and have some fun) so that's getting me to buy a ticket. Aside from the obvious Guardians similarities, the trailer footage reminds of the days when movies were a bit more camp and not so self serious. It's like Conan punching the camel in Barbarian (then getting spat on in return in Destroyer), or basically everything in Flash Gordon. The sort of movies were you end up having a fun time in the cinema, even if the script is a bit wonky in places and the set wobbles when someone falls over.

Some of it seems a little off, but the design looks good and it seems fun. I'm willing to give it a shot. Even if it's not too accurate with the games, as long as it's an enjoyable movie, I wouldn't mind. I personally really enjoyed playing as Gaige in Borderlands 2.

I feel like if Hollywood is gonna make a video game into a movie they should have to make an original story set in the universe of that game. Like Telltale did with Tales from the Borderlands Im...skeptical... borderlands at its heart is tragic. its one of those games that uses comedy and chaos to help the characters deal with the trauma that they have endured. Gaige was always one of my favorites. I get more of a comedic vibe from it which is fine but the underlying tragedy is what makes the characters who they are. The casting is what is gonna hurt this movie. Like you guys said, not bad actors at all just not the right fit. It looks like fun but i feel like its gonna misses the overall vibe to it. I also wonder if they are going to do away with Lilith being a siren.

I trust Jamie Lee to pull off Tannis, provided the script and direction actually make her Tannis. I'm not concerned at all about her. Cate Blanchett's accent threw me off just a little, but that could be me instead of her. I can literally hear Colleen Clinkenbeard's Lilith voice in my head, so Cate's battling for space in my brain. I don't know that this trailer had any moments that really screamed "Lilith" to me. Gena Gershon will be a fine Moxxi, in all applicable ways. It'll be interesting to see how they pull off Krieg's inner and outer voices. Jack Black as Claptrap will be great so long as, once again, the script actually makes him Claptrap. He can't just be dumb, he has to be dumb and earnest. Kevin Smith as Roland... Kevin is a smart man. Surely he understands that Roland is the straight man, comedically speaking, in this farcical story. Everyone else's jokes will only work if Roland doesn't laugh. I am curious about Randy Pitchford's involvement in this. I don't know if he's been very involved, or not at all. But, SPOILER, there is one question I really want to know the answer to, and Pitchford could answer it: what poor shmuck had to be the one to tell Krieg about Maya?

Just so you guys know..... this movie is NOT Canon.. it doesn't follow anything from the stories of BL1, 2 or 3. Only the characters used are created to make a "movie" about the Borderlands.

Just seems mental to even consider that logic valid. Video remarks were good and had merrits. Im exicted to see this movie. I accept it as the weird mishmash thing it is. I expect it to have its own charms. Kevin heart was my biggest negative of it. But i give it a pass to get a movie idea ive wanted for 10yrs. No way in hell did i see this being how it would be done. But so what looks kind of fun. Also if you need help on setting up compressor to react to your dialogue would help so your edits escape copy write and yet makes edits easier in raw recordings.
