This makes me love ekko even more ! I liked him as a character but omg did this raise his level to top tier here. Awesome story line to give him

14:36 heimer literally told Jayce and viktor first off to not even attempt hextech at all, then went on to warn them a second time not to try and push it’s development too quickly. He even told them to give it a decade of research before even thinking about introducing it

There are a number of little differences that become evident when you watch the Ekko portions. Not only was hextech not invented, but shimmer didn’t flood Zaun, the chem barons never gained control of Zaun, equality and peace occurred between the two cities, no more enforcers (at least that we see), Silco found the letter and made up with Vander, Powder was raised by both and got help with her issues… and that just that is noticeable from what we see.

There were enforcers. You could see one talking with the fish vendor Jericho. But it seemed like they were more like ordinary cops in this timeline, not a military police controling the population. In general, it was what could have been.

I wonder how the reconciliation between Piltover and Zaun went, because clearly Vander and Silco still fought, and we don't see Powder's mom anywhere so presumably the uprising and the massacre on the bridge still happened, and Vi and Powder were so broke they were going on "jobs". Perhaps the catalyst was indeed an undercity child dying in Piltover, which probably led to the Council going "damn bro this is what y'all gotta go through just to eat? We really messed things up".

@ that and probably Hiemerdinger (the og timeline one) negotiating with a much less hostile Zaun leadership (considering Vander and Silco reconciled after he read the letter and so Silco didn’t connect with Singed to use Shimmer… and with Vander and Silco together it would have unified Zaun so they would have had a stronger stance at the negotiating table… especially as the people who’s kid died)

You are one of the only reactors I’ve seen pick up on the fact that Jayce can’t lift the Hextech hammer as easily, because Hextech was what made it light. Most people forget that from when they demonstrated the tools to Heimerdinger in the first season.

I absolutely get where Ekko is coming from, as much as I would’ve loved to stay behind in this perfect world, I would never rest or know true peace if I left behind everyone else behind knowing I could truly help save them. The saddest part is I know that Vi would absolutely give her life if it meant that everyone could live in a world a beautiful and peaceful as that. I’d do the same thing. But I love how even though our Ekko left to go back home, this worlds Ekko is still alive and continues to live a beautiful life with Powder.

The Rune Ekko used for his device is the same Rune that Viktor gave Jayce when he was saving him and his mother.

I could be wrong, but to me it seems like the one thing people miss about what this episode and the show in generally is trying to say is that life is about more than pursuing ambition. Much suffering has been caused by the pursuit of ambition over healthy relationships between people. That's what this Powder did differently. She never became a great scientist. She had the brains, she even had the blue stuff. But it just wasn't important to her. She chose family and friends. And look at how she turned out. Look at how their world turned out.

If the many-worlds theory holds true, there are multiple realities where Powder goes on to explore that technology now that the concept exists, and multiple others where it stays in that drawer. Mostly I just take it as a funny nod to the idea "uh-oh, will she do it?" Ekko's situation was always going to be bittersweet, but I think his "moments" when he's trying to adjust could also be a sign that his situation wasn't stable and sooner or later there might be some consequence to both versions of him being stuck together.

Other commentors have said it before, but I think there is something heroic for Ekko's character wanting to go back. Not to downplay Jayce's trudge through the Apocalypse. Ekko basically got his dream world and yet choose to come back because people need him. Other characters in the series would probably not have been able to make that decision. Heimerdinger is totally cool with staying here being a folk singer. Also, this world makes him realize that he gave up on Jinx and it's still not to late. Also, the French song Ma Meilleure Ennemie is beautiful, the translation being My Best Enemy.

Powder sure got over pretty quickly having that Ekko throw something at her & not get mad about it, lol! I want to know what happened in that alternate universe immediately after our Ekko returned to his own universe. At what point or how long after being transported to a different universe, do you just give up trying to go home and live your own life in that alternate universe, but especially when that alternate universe is "better" than your own?

Ekko also has the trauma and baggage of having spent nearly a decade watching his version of Powder murder his friends in service to the man that killed his father figure Benzo. Whatever feelings he has for Powder, he can't stay here with her. Every time he looks at her those memories are going to be there too. Too much has happened to him for this to ever be his world. It's why he can only kiss her after asking they "pretend its the first time". Its a moment he lets himself embrace the fantasy but he knows a fantasy is all it is.

Heimerdinger is a yordle & yordles are immortal in League's old lore. That's not to say they didn’t retcon that, but I believe since they just respawn back home, he didn’t die permanently and he’s home with his yordle pals yapping about how it could’ve all been avoided if Viktor and his hot dumb boyfriend (jk) had just listened to him in the first place 😂 Also GREAT REACTION ❤

What if Powder going back to save Vi results in the main timeline where Vi lives and Powder becomes Jinx, creating sort of a paradox in which the events of Arcane always unfold they way we see them no matter what?

I am loving both of you guys reactions! I want to say something about himerdinger but it would be a bit of a spoiler, not of the show but of his speices.

This viewers do not realize the level of immense intricate DETAILS in the episode. (1) Jayce's story= What should NOT be; Ekko's story= What coulf be. (2) The slow mo dance scene was at 4 frames per second which hints at Ekko's time reversal limit of 4 seconds (3) Notice gorgeous Jinx/ Powder has the same natural dance moves like her mother. This probably explains how she noticed Ekko's moves because she got that dance instinct from her mama. (4) The NECKLACE Ekko leaves with Jinx/ Powder has a blue rose which is symbolic of unattainable love due to the fact that blue roses do not exist hinting at Ekko's love for THIS version of Jinx/ Powder but he can not stay with her no matter how much he wants to because he has to return to his own timeline. I heard that if you looked very closely at that necklace, you will see the faces of Jinx/ Powder and Ekko within the image of the blue rose. (5) The context in the lyrics of the dance song (French song) is a story of lovers who can be together due to how chaotic they are to each other despite having feelings for each other. (6) On this episode 7,. Ekko's story theme is "What could have been" while Jayce's story theme is "What should NOT be". (7) In this Ekko's alternate timeline, Silco "found the will to forgive" re-establishing his brotherhood with Vander because of the LETTER from Vander in Season 1.
