yeah the first two episodes were very much the weak part of the show for me, it felt extremely rushed, specially without all the arcs that actually made them the defenders of emon, but now that we finally kicked the briarwood arc open its looking pretty good. but at least if the next episode tells us anything is that all those arcs are canon in the show, but maybe they happened off screen.

Grog is the perfect example of a low intelligence but high wisdom RP character. He doesn't have the best understanding of nuance, but he's really good at picking up on emotional cues. It's what makes so many of the things he says feel so visceral.
@BeinIan2 жыл бұрын
@@TidalShadow Even in game, when everyone was improvising their lines and thinking about combat abilities and stuff, Travis still always did a phenomenal job roleplaying Grog. It's very easy to fall into the trap of turning a dumb character into a caricature. But Travis gave him depth in so many ways. SPOILER BELOW about a Pike/Grog moment from C1E75. When Grog asked Pike to teach him how to read, I cried. It's a complex emotion expressed in such a simple way, like he's really saying, "I know I'm not as smart as everyone else, and that feels bad so I want to be smarter." I was always the smart one, and my brother was always the athletic one, so I remember seeing that same pain in his eyes before he found and harnessed his own intellectual strengths. Fun fact: "Daylight" in D&D 5e is not actually made of sunlight, so it does not damage undead creatures vulnerable in the sun. It only shines regular light in the area (comparable to torchlight or candles), which imposes advantage/disadvantage on certain creatures. "Sunlight" is a much higher level spell that does act like the rays of the sun on undead foes like Vampires.

There is actually a D&D explanation to Pike's severed connection with the Everlight. If I'm not mistaken, it's because Pike's adventures with Vox Machina and the choices that she took made her change alignment. So in the game, Matt Mercer the DM incorporated this by having her connection with her deity severed.

The group went full Muderhobo in an episode of the livestream and Mercer had to reign them in. This was also around the period that Orion broke with the group so things were tense and weird for a few episodes. Slight spoilers below: Ok, so in the original streamed series Trinket came with them to Whitestone and played a decent part in the combat that occurred there. Trinket got the kill on Count Tylieri and fought alongside the rest of the party against the Briarwoods. I don't know why they chose to leave him behind in this, but I suspect it may have come down to issues with animating him in combat. As for the creatures, based on powers I would say that they are either wraiths or specters and if memory serves from watching the original show, they are most likely the former.

10:50 That is a lie. They did NOT tend to leave Trinket behind at all. As I recall that happened once when they had to go through a sewer system that he was to big for a bear & Sam had to ask Laura really politely to get that result. I mean the Beast Master class that Laura took as a ranger...Is the worst. The animal you have can be kind of effective until say Lvl. 3 then it becomes useless. That is why Scanlan/Sam hated Trinket. He was worthless in combat & a waste of resources. Yet still very cute you cannot deny that

I don't think I like the change in the dynamic between Jarett and Vox Machina. Jarett was always so friendly with them and they admired him and thought he was cool. Here he talks down to them. I do like that they've changed the timeline on Keyleth's emotional and magical progression. She was pretty powerful at this point and already a bit more confident. i feel like jarett as he is here was an adjustment made for new viewers. what everyone else would have seen would have been as uriel described, as shady as the briarwoods are. so imo it makes sense for jarett to be professional around them. and even then, after the events in this episode, he's already friendly with scanlan at the end of this episode. so, briarwood fiasco notwithstanding, his friendliness would likely show through later on.

Even the accent change, its so different and makes him sound stiff and uptight rather than laid black. With the change to the timeline of only just getting their keep I suppose there's just no time to properly introduce a full household of staff.

@nox_tech_2 жыл бұрын
@@sybariticcupboardrat3763 i know that. vox machina was the only campaign i caught up on so far. it's a different relationship because it's different circumstances. the angle they're working with in the show is that they're earning their way up. originally it was pre-stream that they had auditions for guardsmen, and then he's the chad bro guard. here, he's introduced taking their weapons away, saying they'll get returned if vox machina is exonerated. he knows they're in legal trouble, and he's the one informing them of it, and enforcing what's necessary as the situation requires. if you want a dynamic similar to what they had in-stream, you'd need a similar context to what they had before. though the critters who donated to the kickstarter gave a fuckton, the end result is that we've got 12 episodes for this season. so do you have an actual suggestion for - within these 12 episodes they have - how the episodes should've been paced to include a guard audition segment? they're in this series as a group earning their respect while at the bottom of the barrel, banned from every bar and supposedly incapable of simple missions. in the context of the animated series, again, how should Vox Machina's Badass Friendly Guard be presented? what the animation gives us is that this dude's a guardsman on behalf of emon and tasked with keeping vox machina under house arrest. and now he's the last among his guardsmen, and he didn't even get grabbed the entire night, like vox machina did, and he lit a torch, which helped vox machina realize the wraiths' weakness. his men were crying out for him, as if to hope he could save them in their last moments, so clearly the guardsmen look up to him. part of the mess he's stuck with is that he's gonna be the one questioned for failing to keep vox machina under house arrest and losing all his own men. chances are that he'd be cleared of possible troubles offscreen after the briarwood arc concludes, and he'd just vaguely end up their guard with a throwaway line to explain as much. lukewarm way of tying things up, but it's a grounded enough possibility. on the flip side, the city might fire him from being part of the arms of emon, and then he'd be a guard without a job, with the story giving some logic to it. then, vox machina, vindicated of the vampiric mess, and probably with some more coin claimed, would have their messy keep and no more house arrest. so theeeeen vox machina can hire some guards on their own terms. and theeeeen there's some logic in the context of the animated series as to how this band of misfits gets staff for their keep.

Like, I would count her as undead even if her undeadness is not the NORMAL kind that people think of but spoilers for (hopefully) season 3 or 4 with (hopefully) Mark Hamill voicing him as the cast has fan cast since their VM days

@@DisneyLover258 I would say its a very strong possibility even for the end of this season as he was mentioned and whispered in the end of the Briarwoods arc in the show and Mark Hamill can be a suprise voice they kept from telling In their cast revealing and I would say his participation in TLOVM is strengthed by the fact he already voicing in another Amazon Prime animated show so he has all the tie ins for that
