17:20 "We're only sparing your life because you're useful to us" that shot focused on her eyes and because of the lighting they appeared slightly yellow. Ripley knows the status of Cassandra as one of the Briarwoods, the "us" Cass was referring to wasnt the group, it was her new "family". Ripley was useful as a distraction for Percy, see in the acid room he is entirely focused on keeping the gun on her and asking questions. So no one noticed Cass get to the other side of the room to trigger the trap.

No one has to die, no one has to live. This was based on a game that was played so the only reason any of the characters survive a fight at all is down to them just playing well enough to live through it in the original game. The fight with the Briarwoods in Episode 3 actually happened in the game and it was only due to a couple good decisions and lucky dice rolls that Vax didn't die right there.
@Grasnek2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I keep thinking this when they mention that "The writing is so good". No one wrote anything. At least not concerning the things that happen or how they happen. It's all a world created by Matt, and then decisions made by the players, and dice rolls to see how well those decisions pan out.
@bulletsandbracelets41402 жыл бұрын
@@Grasnek I agree in part, but credit to the writers is good in this too! There was a team that decided what to include, lines to adjust or add, etc. They did take hours and hours of a campaign and reduce it down to a really tightly written single season
@Grasnek2 жыл бұрын
@@bulletsandbracelets4140 I agree with you as well, of course it was a hell of a job sifting through all the source material and translating it all to another medium. They did an amazing job of that and I love the result! I just feel like that's not entirely what these ladies mean when they comment on the plot twists etc.
@CarbonMage Жыл бұрын
I keep seeing comments like these, but Matt was clearly running a game with at least some plot armor. Yes, he'd homebrewed Raise Dead etc to be less easy to make death potentially more impactful, but you can watch him go into damage control in real time during the "natural 1 save" incident. Honestly, it's evidence of how great a dm he is that he could swap what the dice said was a permanent character death into a really cool arc for another character, but it still counts as plot armor.
@troikas3353 Жыл бұрын
@@CarbonMage There.. was no damage control? She failed the save, she took the damage, she died. There's no wiggle room there, it's literally just what happened. Unless you think Matt cheated the dice roll at the end of the resurrection ritual, there's nothing he did there that helped her at all. Also natural ones don't actually do anything extra on saving throws beyond automatically failing the check, so it being a nat one on a DC 10 check is no different than rolling a total of 9 on that check. A failed save is just a failed save.

Cassandra’s situation is an interesting one. She’s been living with these people for five years, and they are *smart*. They manipulated her both by magic and just by psychology. Her believing Percy abandoned her isn’t the charm, that’s mostly psychological manipulation, if I remember correctly. She was just thirteen when it all happened, after all.

Fun fact about the fight with "Uncle Nathaniel" and the other De Rolo undead in the tomb: in the campaign, they were ghosts, not skeletons. One of them possessed Percy so the others had to knock him unconscious, then Scanlan used a bard ability called Cutting Words (basically trash talking someone so bad they take damage from it) to finish it off. Then Taliesin (who plays Percy) and Sam (who plays Scanlan) had a funny exchange: Taliesin: Which one of my ancestors did you just SHAME to death? AGAIN? Sam: The one that POSSESSED you! Taliesin: That's fair. That's very fair.

So they beat the life out of him and Pike found him and healed him and they've been best friends ever since.This is the party's class breakdown which will explain their roles better. It is wonderful that this series can portray the Grog/Pike friendship so clearly, but without that tiny bit of backstory you don't fully understand it is so much deeper than "bestest buddies". It is almost brother and sister.

Ripley is an amazing evil snake, I love her so much. Cassandra is both charmed by magic and manipulated/gaslighted, because Briarwoods can be very persuasive. Pike and Grog are technically siblings. Pikes parents is somewhat unsavory, so She was raised by her Great grandfather. That same guy was assaulted by a group of goliaths. One of the goliaths objected to killing him, and got beaten up and left for dead for it. the old Gnome took Grog in and Pike and Grog grew up together. Don't know this is considered spoilers or not. Hmmm.. so sparks flying between Percy and Vex'ahlia? Consider this, the show follows the events of the streamed DnD game from the show Critical role, our seven Heroes are the player characters of the group. So whether or not one of the characters "have to die" is totally based on how the Dice rolled. anything can happen. although, if you would want to know: the entire campaign, not just the events of this season, is avaliable to see from here: kzbin.info/aero/PL1tiwbzkOjQz7D0l_eLJGAISVtcL7oRu_ season one of The Legends of Vox Machina covers the events of episodes 24 through 38, with some omissions for the scripted version. that leaves events of 80 more episodes for the coming seasons.

Great reaction... I feel I must comment on Grog's concern for his private parts being a "guy thing"... Is it really though? Yes, for that particular extremity sure, it's a guy thing to be concerned about, but wouldn't a similar concern arise in a gal for some other parts? I can't imagine a woman risking loosing their melons, or hair or the ability to become a mom and not be concerned about it. There must be something that would evoke a similar fear.
