The newer Captain America films are better, but this one does hold a special place in my heart. Being the first CA film I saw as a kid, I grew up loving it, and despite its glaring faults, i still enjoy it as a guilty pleasure. It's not a great film by any means, but its entertaining and fun to watch, and Cap's costume was spot on here.

Scott Paulin, who played the Red Skull, delivered his lines so brutally and coldly that he might be the best villain in the worst movie of all time. He was a definite gem in this one.

Thanks to this movie, I became a fan of Cap. When he wore the uniform to save the daughter of Peggy and faced Red Skull the second time and RS tells him You remain a clouness symbol that no one cares about, and he replies , " I Care " At that moment, I knew he was the one. It is like the scene in end game when he stand up strapped tight that shield and walked to Thanos ready to fight, no quit.

I have to say that while I do NOT think this movie is good, this scene has bits that ARE. The Red Skull here comes across as more layered, and you feel his hatred and eventual pain from the resurfacing memories. Captain America’s lines, “I care” and “Stop calling me your brother!”, were also delivered with such conviction, that for a brief moment, we got a look at what Matt Salinger would’ve been like in a good Captain America movie. And if you can overlook the excessive jump cuts, the hand to hand (and foot to face) fighting between Cap and Skull looked fairly brutal.
@Neethan32472 жыл бұрын
When I look at this film, I think "good effort". No seriously, Red Skull really is tragic and it was interesting seeing Captain America trigger his ptsd so that he could distract him. This Red Skull actually has layers.

@224dot0dot0dot10Ай бұрын
If I remember correctly, there is more than one Red Skull in the comic books : there is an American businessman "Red Skull" from the USA who was named George John Maxon or "George Maxon", then there is the more famous German Red Skull who was named Johann Schmidt and then were one or maybe two different Soviet Russian Red Skull characters. One of the Soviet Russian Red Skull characters was Soviet KGB General Aleksander Lukin (Russian: Александр Лукин) and then there is also the Italian Red Skull that you see in this 1990 Captain America movie.
@224dot0dot0dot10Ай бұрын
Perhaps the reason why there is more than one Red Skull character is maybe because anyone who takes the super-soldier formula becomes Red Skull ?
@azurerainbow46375 ай бұрын
The Red Skull was so mad to try to explode a bomb to kill a lot of people in Soutern Europe because he didn't want Captain America to take him alive and that his plan to become President of the U.S. got foiled. The Red Skull didn't try to stop the detonation when he heard the recording of the night he was taken from his family, and they were killed. Good that Cap defeated him and also his only daughter, who either got knocked unconscious by Cap's shield or that her head was cut off before she would kill anyone else again after her father fell to his death.
