The practical effects of Red Skull are superb. Red Skull terrified me as a kid. The movie needed more of this. To have Red Skull look more "normal' later in the movie brought down the temperature of enthusiasm quite a bit. This movie had a lot more good ingredients than people give credit for. Matt Salinger was a solid Captain America. Will be on the lookout for the Director's cut that was just announced as found from Alan Pyun's wife. Maybe it is somewhat better than what we got? Who knows. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for this movie.

The movie could have been better, but I found this Red Skull to be creepier than Hugo's version. The practical FX kind of make it look like his face was actually flayed off instead of Hugo's version which was simply his face with prominent brow ridges that was tinted red. One version of the Red Skull in the comics actually skins his own face off.

Yeah Johann Schmidt that's a very Italian sounding name in the comics though the Red Skull's original backstory he was an American Buisnessman named George Maxxon who'd been promised control over all American industry if he sided with Germany, this was later retconned to him simply being a decoy employed by the real Red Skull to draw attention away from the real Skull

Batman 89 also had his stuff.....even in Batman Returns, you have things like the black makeup dissapearing before he takes off his mask in the end.The main issue with this is the editing (suffering form lack of budget to make several takes), otherwise, the sounds are ok, the Red Skull design is even better than Hugo Weaving's one, and his dialogs are better. I like how he constantly calls him "weak" and nicknamed him "flag-boy".
