OnePlus is a smartphone maker with a cool story. It started out by appealing to buyers who were price-conscious, yes, but more importantly: phone geeks. So OnePlus phones have always been fast and buffed up by a few cherry-picked features that actually make them more useful. At the same time, OnePlus has mostly resisted adding extraneous bloatware that doesn’t improve the experience. The result has been years of products that I could recommend not just to fellow nerds, but to normal people who just wanted a really solid phone at a fair price.
The OnePlus 8 doesn’t betray that legacy, but it also doesn’t do much to push it forward. For that you need to look to the OnePlus 8 Pro, but then you’re jumping to a $900 phone. The OnePlus 8 here? A buck under $700. That's more in line with the company's traditional year-over-year price hikes, but it's still more expensive than ever. @@frezieduh3457 It's just an unfortunate double whammy from the whole Qualcomm shoving 5G down your throat whether you want it or not. I've looked at the 8 Pro and I am actually compelled by it. Just that what we used to know OnePlus for is pretty much gone at this point. It's now pretty much a flagship, no matter how else you look at it. I don't think there's that many affordable phones with beefed up hardware at this point. Closest would probably be the upcoming Pixel 4A, though it likely won't be packing the very best processor (not that it matters since I've really felt that phones have been more than quick enough for a while now)

Don't worry about the lack of a telephoto lens. Most phones use the main sensor at a 2-3x zoom anyways, and very rarely use the telephoto lens.

I have wanted a OnePlus for years, switched from AT&T, for coverage reasons, and snatched it up. LOVE IT. I got it half off ($350), it has IP68, I rarely use my camera, and I'm LOVING 90Hz. Oh and that charger? Ridiculous in a good way.

That USS Equinox from Eaglemoss should've had much sturdier nacelles with the Bussard collectors and warp grills made of transparent plastic instead of just painted on. They almost feel like rubber for god's sake, really didn't do such a neat-looking ship justice. I was tempted to order the Rhode Island and see if they've since remedied their failure, but I'm honestly worried I'm setting myself up for another disappointment. There's just no reason for it given that they made the effort with the nacelles on their previous Starfleet ships.

I don't understand the arguement about OnePlus losing its roots. They were never complete flagships since there were always fancy features missing hence the few hundred lower price tag. So, I normally use TMobile JUMP to upgrade one of my lines. I'm extremely disappointed that T-Mobile won't be carrying the 8pro. Do you guys think that the 8 is a worthy upgrade to my 6t? Really wanted the Pro bit with everything going on in the world right now, JUMP is really the only option for me.

Just impulsively bought a oneplus 7T for 500€. 700€" for the 8 and 900 for the 8P is just too much. Will have a look at the 7T and if I like it I'll keep it. Don't seem to be that different to the 8 anyway.
