This is a really cool idea. It would be cool if the modular nature of this laptop made it's way down to more normal laptops

I mean, I don't see the average user caring about a modular fingerprint sensor or external GPU as long as they can check their email and Twitter. Maybe the long battery life would appeal to people, but swappable batteries are already a thing, even during the curse of the super-light and super-thin Ultrabook.

Need is questionable. Some people might benefit but plenty of others would quite literally be weighed down by the extra tonnage for ports and features that have long since become obscure in the consumer space. In truth an SD card reader and USB-A port alongside the now prevalent thunderbolt/ and basic USB-C ports is probably all the extra oomph most people would genuinely appreciate. But VGA ports and disc drives? That’s not really something relevant in 2019 for most people not working in very specific environments which require them due to legacy equipment.

So glad to see these are still around! I've worked on several of the older ones from the XP days, and they were actually pleasant to get into and service. Very seldom were there any issues with the keyboard unless they had something heavy dropped on them. Touchpad failures were fairly common, but not that hard to replace, plus you had the option to ignore it and just use a wireless or wired USB mouse instead. The SSD upgrade is REALLY nice, and the fact that you don't even have to break open the case to get to it, is a definite plus! I would buy one in a minute if I had the extra bucks (and I use mostly Mac these days, although pre-butterfly keyboard and touchbar (2012)).😉

The Anti-MacBook, so pretty much every non-Mac laptop?

I love this concept! It amazes me how no one has done this before, _and yet this isnt even marketed to the general public?_ its uses for work applications are obviously endless, but consumers that live on laptops would love such freedom The only thing i love more than that are palmtops Id love if they became more mainstream, but for some reason they seem to only be used for _gaming,_ which seems counterintuitive

I have used multiple tough books, genteks, and the Dell XFR miltary issued laptops. Aside from the weight they were good computers that took a lot of abuse and kept right on going. I'd almost lean more that direction my self especially with the modular options.
