Great run down, thank you! I would add lambda sensor, perished fuel breather pipe (in wheel arch under fuel flap), perished long brake pipe (behind fuel tank!), alternator regulator, viscous fan coupling, steering damper. All DIY and peace-of-mind stuff for me except brake pipe, which caused a fluid leak and was too big a job given its location. These are great, easily maintainable, cars!

julesgold01 ha, indeed. Actually I’d also mention the IFZ immobiliser system in these cars. It’s an anti-theft system and mine was giving issues because my drivers door lock is spoilt. So the car cuts off the igniton and you can’t start it.

I decided to buy one of these for my first car in 2012 from gran who got it from my mother and she got it brand new. April 2000 Build c200 manual classic. And of course a tow bar. This car has driven so much of South Africa its insane, I am about to hit 500 000km in it but i have a trip for that upcomming. Just got get ready at the meoment and before i leave i will show what you need to do make this car more reliable any other else. Just a few little changes

I was thinking of getting a w210 as my first car but I keep hearing that they have huge problems with rust, also considering a w202, any advice? Must be petrol, manual and the engine due to my country’s regulations be 2.0 liters or lower or the taxes are way to big, also is it worth it to get a kompressor one? Btw great video, I was not expecting your english to be so good.

W202’s seem to hold up really well! I’ve sold mine but tempted to get into another 90’s era Benz as there just wasn’t anything like them!

Great video as usual! My comment is a bit unrelated but I'm looking for the dimensions of that car shed when the video begins.. Looks like it fits 2 cars in width with extra room on the sides so about 20 feet wide, 17 feet long, and about 10 feet in height? This shed looks really good, hope you don't mind if I copy the design :)

Have you ever have a problem with engine wiring harness? I had a 94 W202 C280 and it costs me US$1200 and my few hours of labour

Hey! Mine didn’t have engine harness issue but I know several models in year 96 / 97 had the biodegradable harness and yes you are right it costs about $1100 for a new one

Hey man....my W202 has a cracked windscreen and ma lost of words. Any advice? Just replaced the gearbox and feel frustrated.

Besmir Bekiri M111 engine is a pleasure to use. Built so solid. Can take high revs & a good beating for years on end. Not sure about others. Mine’s a 1996

I want to buy a W202 with a 2.2 CDI. Some say that the common rail engines work very well and have decent fuel consumption but when it breaks down, the repairs are awfully costly. Is that true?
