Mom potty shaming IS REAL. And so frustrating when you know in your heart you have done everything and that your child does not have any mental disabilities. It was nice to have some encouragement today because I am at the end of my rope with my little one and am going to take a break for a while which I know will be the best thing for the both of us. Please momma's be kind to each other.

My child's day care teacher did that and I told her off. My daughter transitioned at 6 beautifully at her own pace. No problems at all since. You're right. This toxic culture needs to stop. I remember telling her day care teacher 'oh so you base a child's learning capabilities based on potty training ?' She couldn't answer me. Very toxic culture

it's hard also when your a mommy and your Lil one not being potty training fully and then coparenting with the dad who makes me out to be a terrible mommy saying her not fully trained is me being a bad mommy. then calls his mom a state away and the both mom shame me how I'm holding her back..so hey make me feel bad about myself when im the only one really trying to get her to use the potty. when she was 4 she was using it but then when she was 5 we moved to a new house new toilet so I'm not sure if that made a difference well she is in pull-ups but I'm hoping this video can help me potty train asap.

@@TheMummyBubble Oh I'm in really bad situation. 6 year old, 10 days until school starts. He's in underwear & keeps claiming he doesn't need to go. He has gone before so I don't get it. I don't know what to do except for make pediatric urologist appointment. He does not complain of any pain & went a day & a half ago. I think he is purposely holding it but how on earth could a child hold it for a day & a half? He somewhat acts like he needs to go - kinda crossing his legs kind, messing with himself a little but when I say come sit on the potty, he says he doesn't need to go. I don't know what to do because when he was in nappies, he was going at least 4-6(?) times a day. So I don't think it is sudden urinary retention. This is my fault for lazily waiting this long. I could make excuses but am not going to. Just flat out 100% my fault. I think he got so used to it that he is hoping if he holds out, I will give him pull-ups back which is not going to happen. I'm so upset with myself for failing him this long.

I’m glad I came across the video and viewed the comments . I deal with people shaming me and my children for not being potty trained. I have twin boys they are both completely different and learn different . So I try alternative methods for each one of them. It gets frustrating and expensive always buying pull ups. But I understand that every child on this earth is different. And it just may not be their time. However, I want to remind any mother out there struggling with this issue to stay strong. I have so many mom friends who are "surprised" that my girls aren't potty trained by now. There's so many "3 day potty training" methods it's disheartening and NONE of them work for my girls. All they do is stress all 3 of us out. This video made me feel so much better. Especially when you talk about stopping and starting. My boy twin is still not able to tell when he needs to and is peeing his pants every time if I don't get the potty timing right. We've been trying for a week now and I'm ready to give up. I've got to say, I'm about in tears!! This is day 4 of probably our 5th attempt at potty training since roughly 13 months ago starting. My daughter is 3 years and 3 months. We're coming off of a looooong gap in trying because I made the executive decision that she just wasn't ready and me picking her up and sitting her on the potty to "at least try" was becoming more of a traumatic experience for her and I knew I'd fuck it up entirely if we didn't take a break or tried to force it. She's a VERY particular child as is. Sooooo I can get her to sit on the potty for what seems like hours, nothing! She camels that til the point of bursting at times. And I mean I've tried it all. Water sounds, actual water running, water activities on the potty, warm water in a bin with toys that she can "clean" on the potty, everything! I even let her use my phone on the potty which has led to 3 full wees on the potty!! BUT I'm worried she might not be listening to her body or even realizing when she goes? I dunno. I'm losing my mind and my patience but still forcing out "its okay, accidents happen" with a smile but what all am I doing wrong exactly?! I know she'll be so much happier without pullups!! Also not even close to.a.poop on the potty yet. Send help. 🤣😂🤣

He’d want to sit on the potty every 5 mins and claim he went (sometimes did a tiny tiny bit) and say he peed and demand his M&M. I am not a patient mom tho and I have started showing my frustration in front of my son so I think it’s becoming a negative thing. He had like 4 of 6 signs of readiness when he was 2, but now...nothing. He doesn’t even hide to pee/poo anymore, just does it in front of us in his diaper. Like he doesn’t give af. Lol. Potty training shaming is real. Parents ask me all the time “he’s not potty trained yet?” And I feel like I’ve failed as a mom.

@misslari243 жыл бұрын
Basically, I told him no more diapers. Tried to get him hyped up about wearing "big boy" underwear. We couldn't do pull-ups either because he was too big. Bought underwear with cool patterns he liked - both briefs and boxer briefs so he could choose what was most comfortable. One incentive for him was that he knew if he pooped himself, he'd possibly be ruining his favorite undies for good. We used our regular toilet, not a training toilet. We have one of those "family" toilet seats that has a smaller seat that he could just pull down and sit on. Reminded him to go every 30 min or so. Volunteered to stay with him and help him, but he likes his independence, so I didn't hover too much. I know some people advise against treats, but it worked with my girls so I did it with him - 1 small candy for every pee in the potty, 2 for poop in the potty. They hardly ever get candy, so this was truly an incentive my girls were willing to work hard for. But my son didn't care as much about the treats. His biggest obstacle was the feeling of letting the pee and poop fall away from his body, and once it finally clicked that that was okay and normal, he relaxed and hasn't looked back. Every kid has their own hang ups and timing - your son will get the hang of it eventually! Just be supportive, not pushy. It won't happen until he's ready.

There’s less to clean up, and she was able to make the connection rather than having the comfort of a diaper to get her through the night. Hope that helps another mom looking for a nighttime hack. This video reaffirmed everything I’ve been telling my husband. My toddler just turned 3. We use the M&M reward system. My son doesn’t abuse it. Now thats its been 4 weeks, he doesn’t even care if he gets the candy or not. However, he wont poop on the potty and he wont tell us when he has to go. He will pee but hides to poop. He hates being soiled so I think I’ll try the training underwear instead of pull ups and make him clean up the mess. He also hates being exposed. So I’m hoping him being naked will frustrate him enough to tell us when he has to go. Hope this works.

Did this work? I would appreciate an update since my son has similar issues
@BrittneyWinterzzz2 жыл бұрын
@@ak8990 another thing that worked was putting him on a strict potty schedule. Every 30 minutes. He heard the timer and knew what to do. Even if he didn’t go, it got him in the habit of going and that helped too

This is a great video ...on a mum of 3 and the two girls were quick! Eldest had a potty exactly as described, middle child skipped potty completely and went to the toilet both fully toilet trained by 2. Our son however is again hit and miss. We go toilet forst thing and last thing at mighy but through out the day he's not interested. It is taking time and again ... your video has helped me feel more confident in our approach. Thank you

Thank you for this video! My son is 3.5 and we're dealing with this too. He peed on it a few times before turning 3, though. He doesn't care about rewards either. What confuses us most is that he is perfectly continent when he is naked, but he is so scared of the potty that he doesn't even want to be near it. Even just the sight of the potty is negative for him. He'll be naked for hours, then pee in a nappy and take it off again. We've talked about it (positively) so much and we think he'll hardly have accidents once he's finally ready to ditch the nappies, it's just about getting there!

My son just hit 3, and he did have some delay, but he is doing much better now. I have had to go on leave from work to help my mother prep for her surgery and post surgery, and now we are about to start potty training for real as my prior work schedule did not give me real time to devote to it. Once i run out of the reserve of diapers, that's it. I can't wait till he can go. 🙏🏻

Thank you for this video. I’m a bit 3 years late watching this. But my kid is around 2 going on 3 and we do have a problem with communication at the moment plus potty training. But after watching, I now feel a bit more confident at the moment. Although the dynamics with the me and the other parent is different. I understand a bit more on how to handle a late potty trained kid.

Until last week, she said, I have to pee in the potty. My husband and I were shocked. She is just scared to poop in the potty. This is the struggle we have with her. But we will not force her to poop, we will wait when she's ready.

Best way to go is to literally teach baby how their body functions. Think about how you, yourself feel when you’ve digested food and how long it takes before it’s “potty time”! I a Dedicated, Peaceful, QUIET place,Take their hand and help them get in touch with their body! Guide their hand to their tummy and Very Sweetly explain that after they eat, (they’ll understand after going around THEIR Appropriate Times!), that their food wants to come out. Then guide their little hand while explaining “This is how food goes inside our bodies.” Gently and Sweetly (Patiently), guide their hand down from their belly to their peepee and then poopee. Explain (Sweetly), that this is where our nibbles come out . Now we can Feel our “Foodee” need to come out our “peepee and poopee”. Take your Sweet, Pleasant time explaining this WITH THEM and I GUARANTEE YOUR SWEET PEA WILL PEEPEE & POOPEE IN THE RIGHT PLACE!!! ❤😊🧸 🎊 🎉

I’m having such a hard time with my four year old. she doesn’t mind being in pee pants, unless I notice and change her she just stays in them. She’s about to turn 5 and still has at least 10 accidents a day. First year of school she would come home with a bag of wet pants every day. She has no development delays. I’m so desperate for this to end . My first child is 10 and she never had this problem I don’t know what to do 😔

I'm so glad I came across this video. My girl is nearly 3. She just won't. I've been hit, bit, and the potty and toilet seat thrown at me. My girl is happy walking around f in pee soaked clothes ( obviously, I do clean and change her as soon as she's wee or soiled) She just "cleans" her own mess. She's been classed as a busy child, and when she's older, she will most likely be sent for an adhd assessment. She was 2 prem and walked 2 or 3 months late according to child development literature. Her speech is average and her emotional intelligence is exceptionally good. She goes the pre school for 2 hours a day. But in September she needs to be toilet/potty trained for school as my school has a dull view on sending a child in with nappies. We have all the equipment needed, but she says they are all too hard and cold... even the padded toilet seats.

Best of luck to you, we had exactly the same thing at age 3, months of stress and all of a sudden it just got easier and we had it cracked in a matter of days. I think some kids just don't have any interest in it. One thing that can help is allocating a whole week where you are not too busy and sticking close to home, keeping trips out to a minimum and having alarms on your phone regularly to remind her to try to go. I'm sure you will crack this!

@TheMummyBubble thank you, I really appreciate it. I've got no help or guidance on how to potty train. I'm ready. 😃

I wanted to potty train my daughter the easy way, keep her wearing pull ups and just putting her on the toilet every 2h or so, but she would just pee in her pull ups. Then I bought cloth diapers and tried that way, so she would feel wet, but I didn't have to deal with puddles everywhere. That did not work also. Then I decided that puddles are unavoidable and she started to wear underwear. For 2 weeks we had so many accidents in her pants and she would never say that she needs to go. But after 2 weeks she started to say - I need to go to potty. We still sleep in pull ups, but during the day we are alright. When I read about this topic, I found that 2 weeks are the time nessecary to train your child. Not 2 or 3 days, but 2 weeks. Thats a long time to keep cleaning up the messes, but I think that is what you should be preparing yourself for. Good luck everybody who struggles.

PT issues can be very stressful for families. Sometimes the child needs someone other than the parent. Especially if you naturally coddle him/her. I help parents by having them video a few struggles and leave the child with me Friday - Sunday. Most success with just 1 weekend. The child doesn't want to return to my firm military scared straight method. It's mainly for children who play games with the process, but it helps slow learners too. They have an epitome almost overnight.

Dear moms and dads, don't feel ashamed and guilty that your child is not following what other parents are doing at a certain time frame. Even if your child will get potty trained at 4 years old, it will never be on his or her resume. So really, it doesn't matter. Do what works best for you and your family. My daughter is 3 months shy from turning 3 and I am watching the videos now to see if I could potty train her. She pooped in the toilet twice already within the last year. But I'm trying to do it to avoid diaper usage. I'm a single mom, and want to be wiser with my finances. So pray for me that we will be successful in this journey. Thank you!

We have been trying with our 3-and-a-half, almost four year old son for what feels like an eternity.He knows how to use the potty. He will use it, if he feels like it. But for the most part- he is still in diapers. If he’s diaper less, he will pee on the floor and sometimes poop. I ask him if he wants to and he refuses nearly every time. But, every once and a while, he will use the potty on his own; but then he’ll go back to the status quo. I don’t know what to do anymore and I’m at my wits end. I’m terrified that he will never be potty trained and he will be in diapers forever.
