You named every trait my little guy has. I told my husband our child has the “prince syndrome” because he loves us to do everything for him. It’s really…terrible to say the least. I’ve been asking my toddler all day if she needs to pee or to poop because we’re on day four or five of potty training but she keeps holding it in so she doesn’t have to stop playing. And then she goes and poops her pants just now after I watch this video lol. She has been using the toilet, she knows how to use the toilet, but I think me asking her over and over again if she has to pee or poop is stressing her out. And then I get stressed out when she poops her pants after I’ve asked her if she has a poop coming lol IT’S TOUGH OUT HERE 😂

@@kumarirohini6189 I made her change herself and clean up the pee. She didn’t want to keep changing her clothes and cleaning so she started to do it on her own. Also if your toddler has been really stubborn give them a week break then after the week start over. Place them on the toilet as soon as they wake up. Then 15-20 minutes after eating and drinking.

Thanks for the advice! We have a stubborn 3 year old and trying to get her fully potty trained so she can start preschool. Our oldest daughter was SO easy and potty trained with no problems. But our youngest is the opposite, of course! She seems to be scared of sitting on the toilet. We are trying to make it “fun” to show her it’s not scary, but she’s stubborn so it doesn’t work every time. I do put her in underwear when we are home, and I like the idea of having her clean up herself after an accident. I was also thinking of taking a few short trips out of the house with undies to see how she does. I’m going to try the candy in the bathroom in a clear jar, and put her potty chart at her view. Hoping these things work! I know it takes time but we got so spoiled with our first, we were not prepared for the second! Lol thanks for the video!!! Any more tips are appreciated! 😂

Thank you for these helpful tips! Im currently potty training 2 1/2 year old b/ g twins. These tips are incredibly helpful! I personally did elect to have 2 "little" pottys and also use a step up potty seat for the big potty. Having twins and only 1 "big" potty the little poty chairs have been esential. Idk about anyone else with twins but if there is only 1 of anything its an inevitable confrontation. Best of luck to all my other potty training parents out there! Hang in there.

Well he always pees in the potty and now he will poop in the bathroom but not make it in the potty haha 🤯🥲 He doesn’t hide anymore and all I can say is patience is a virtue. We are working on it and I’m seeing improvement. He wakes up and puts his underwear on every morning wears a pull up to bed but does not pee in it.

I did all this with my son but I would make him clean up the mess at least do the best he could and then I would clean up what he missed...that was what made him get it...like I tried just underwear that didn't work then would put him in sweatpants and socks so when he would pee it would stick to him and he hated that but that still wasn't working so then I would make him wipe up his mess on the floor and he didn't like getting pee on his hands (he was really particular about getting stuff on his hands) and after 3 times of having to wipe up his pee he started using the potty full time and we have never had an issue since

I think screen time can be a useful tool to help kids relax on the potty. My main suggestion would be to have him watch content related to going on the potty. Watching random cartoons may be too much of a distraction to the job at hand! Sesame Street, PBS, Pink Fong, and Cocomelon all have cute “potty songs” on their KZbin channels, which may help him view the potty in a better light. Hopefully this will ease his discomfort and help him keep his eye on the prize! Good luck mama!

I was thinking of buying a frozen potty seat to put on the big toilet. And buying frozen underwear. My daughter is definitely like your daughter. Great video. The Frozen toilet seat and underwear sound like a great idea that could help make the toilet seem more fun to your daughter. You could also try hanging a cute picture at her eye level on the wall across from the toilet, so she has something calming to look at once she’s sitting. Or if you’re using a reward chart, hang that on the wall so she has her eye on the prize. Similarly, if you’re using food rewards (like lollipops), keep them in the bathroom too. Maybe in a little container on the sink, or on a stand. Just somewhere she can see it! Remember that persistence is key, even if you are having unsuccessful attempt after unsuccessful attempt. Building the routine is most important and the rest will follow. And don’t forget that everyone gets it eventually, so don’t get discouraged 🤪😄 I hope this helps. Thank you for subscribing! Just experienced our first day of potty training our 2 year old and it was ROUGH. She was able to go #2 but #1 was the challenge all day. We had her in underwear all day and she had about 5-6 accidents. Any advice on how to check in for potty time? I think we overasked the question today and it ended in frustration for her.

It was much harder for my daughter to be “pee trained” than “poo trained,” so that may be a recurring theme in your potty training journey. My speculation is that the feeling before #2 builds gradually, giving them time to notice it and get to the potty, whereas by the time they feel pee, it’s often too late. I would keep her in the underwear and write down the time after every accident. Keep a log for a few days and you will see a trend (also make sure that meals are consistently at the same time every day to keep everything on schedule). Then, bring her to the potty yourself about 15 minutes before she usually has an accident (usually first thing in the morning, after breakfast, after lunch, before a nap, after dinner, and right before bed). Instead of asking her, take her yourself and then eventually, this routine will help her realize when she needs to go on her own. Hope this helps!! 😊

I use potty training underwear and my 3 year old daughter can pee all day in the potty with no issue but she still poops in her underwear, when I first trained her she did soooo good she peed and pooped and she'd always let me know but now she never tells me when she needs to poop only when she needs to pee and I just don't know what to do anymore! I don't want to put her back into a pull-up either, I've even tried a sticker or candy reward system when she poops but it didn't work I need help or some advise should I just put her in regular undies !?! Help please !!!

Great tips. I just finished potty training my toddler. He has done so good. 🥰 I didn’t give much thought to the using the potty then transfer it to toilet until you mentioned it. But that is going to be a little confusing to then teach him to use the big toilet. But for know I think it’s ok since he can’t climb onto our toilet since we don’t have steps or anything. And then I think it helps bc I can see if he went if he decides to go on his own and if he hasn’t I try to tell him it’s time too. I’ll let you now if he transitions well. My daughter is 5 and my son is 4. My daughter would pee when I put her on the potty sometimes and she poops on herself. She wont tell me that she has to go. Ive been trying to potty train her since she was 2. My kids have developmental delays and Im at the point now where Im just going to stop potty training like Ive done a millions time before

I’ve read that children without developmental delays may not be ready to start potty training until after their 3rd birthday (that was definitely the case for my daughter), so it is possible that your daughter is moving at her own pace and still may not be ready. There are some pretty helpful articles that lay out the signs that your child is physically ready to start potty training on wonderbaby.org and healthychildren.org (in case you haven’t already read them). If they are hitting those milestones, next I would try keeping a log of their wet diapers for a few days, so you can see what times they usually go. Then, instead of waiting for them to tell you that they have to go, you can predict that they need to go around a certain time and bring them to the potty before they have an accident. I know it’s exhausting, especially when there is more than 1 in diapers, but don’t give up!! You’re doing a great job and it’s clear that you care a lot :)

I know where you’re coming from. I raised my daughter as a single mom until she was 3 and it was the toughest thing I’ve ever done. At that time, I was in the middle of college and worked multiple jobs. You’d think my grades would have suffered, but my GPA actually increased! My daughter whipped my butt into shape and taught be routine and responsibility. Everything was for our little family and I ended up graduating, passing a national exam, and landing myself a full time job. I have a feeling that you are about to persevere and see your true strength like never before!

I have 3.5 year old son and I’m trying to potty train her and he always starts crying whenever I say go to the toilet but hopefully he will get it because he needs it for school

Good mam.. I am a mother of 4year old boy. My son doesn't want to go to toilet most of the time when we ask him to go. Problem is that he doesn't want to leave whatever he is doing. And end up peeing in his pants also got constipated. Sometimes it takes two days gap in between. What should I do??. I tired of doing different methods

This is my boys problem too. He has an almost OCD level fear of missing out on whatever he was doing, not realizing it’ll be there for him when he gets back. Idk what to do.

You know your son best. If you think he is cognitively and physically ready to use the potty and he isn’t, there could be an underlying reason as to why that is. I think it’s worth bringing up with his pediatrician to at least start a conversation about it. They will have more insight than I do, due to the ability to take a thorough history and assess the situation as a whole (based on any other contributing factors that deal with his overall health). Since he is older, once he gets the hang of it, it will be smooth sailing! You’re doing an amazing job!!

My 5 year old has been in underwear since he was 4 and still refuses to go poop on the potty but he wont let me know that he done it and my soon to be 4 year old will sometime pee in the potty but wont poop at all. But i have tried everything with these two.

My 5 year old would not poop until I started scheduling him. If he did not show me his poop, he had to go on the toilet for 10 minutes or until he pooped. I also started giving him stool softeners at breakfast and dinner. The scheduled potty breaks were 20 minutes after breakfast and dinner.

All these potty training books make me feel like a failure because a.) we started so late and b.) they don’t include the psychology of a 4 year old. Everything you said makes so much sense!! I promise you are not a failure! I knew for a fact that Adaliah wasn’t ready to potty train any earlier. Some kids just need a little bit longer and there’s nothing wrong with that because we all get the hang of it eventually 🙂 I’m so happy that this video was helpful and thank you for commenting!!

My son is 4 and he’s been potty trained for over since about 2 1/2. But he refuses to poop in the toilet. He always asks for the diaper when he needs to poop. I keep trying to tell him to try the toilet and he refuses. He’d rather hold it in. We even had to take him to th er a year ago bc he was holding his poop in for days

@@dhiyai7589 he is finally pooping in the toilet lol. However he now refuses to wipe himself so he holds his poop at school until he gets home 😞. I just kept trying and encouraged him to try it and kept telling him it wasn’t scary. I did realize though he was scared of the water splashing on him. It took time but it’s been over a year now thank goodness 😅

@@dhiyai7589 just keep trying and be patient. But keep encouraging him tell him you’ll stay there with him until he’s done. That you’ll hold his hand. I don’t know honestly it took a whole lot to get him to finally agree to it. But once he did it the first time that was it he was good

I can so relate my 4 yr old son is the same way sometimes he'll tell me after he went .. potty training is so hard I feel like I'll never be able to get him to understand the concept of tell mommy before .were both trying

My daughter just turned 4 , I tried last year 2-3 times to sit on the potty seat but she was so scared that I had to give up . Now she’s 4 and I really have to train her . Yesterday I just removed her diaper , whole day she played without asking to pee , finally in the evening I made her sit on the seat , I put a little warm water and she peed . Now today since morning she’s refusing to sit on the seat . She’s just scared to do on the seat , I could see her trying to stop to do on the sit as if some part of her body would come out . I’m really really worried .. I just now put her on diapers and she’s sleeping now .. I’m concerned wat if she gets constipated or get uti . Really worried .

I recently uploaded a part 2 to this video, where I specifically talk about tips for children scared of the potty. It’s a lot to type out, so you can search my videos for part 2 or click the link in the description of this video. To me, it sounds like a really good sign that she was able to hold her bladder that day, but I understand your concern of her holding it too long. So it’s a little tricky, balancing that with her fear. Maybe try easing her into sitting on the potty more consistently. First try once a day for a week or so. Then up it to twice a day for another week or so. And then work your way up to 3 times a day (first thing in the morning, after lunch, and after dinner/before bed). I think that, in conjunction with my tips in my part 2 video, will help her get over this hurdle!

My daughter is 3. If she has underwear on she will pee in them and she won't tell me when she has to go. But if she runs around without a diaper or underwear on she uses her potty chair and lets me know when she has to go, any tips for this?

My 4 yr old is also having trouble. He pees fine but doesn't want to go #2 in the potty. We sit but he just doesn't want to push it out. And then o have to results in putting his diaper to avoid constipation. And 5 seconds after he goes w no problem in his diaper. I'm losing hope 😫😫😫

Another thing is this: some parents just want their kids to use the potty so they place it in the playroom… Actually: I call that extra work. Because now you have to…yet again: tell your kid”no, no, no. We have to potty here” so I would place the potty in the actual bathroom. I might have more messes to clean up in the beginning but I’d rather my kid learn the proper connection which is that pee and poop go in the toilet, which is in the bathroom❤
