Thank you for adopting. My husband and I are very involved with animal rescue and it's always wonderful when a deserving pet gets to go home to their forever home. It also saves another life, as now another animal can be brought to the shelter and their life's are saved.

I’m not a big consumer but I always used to get an upgraded phone every two years. I sort of thought I had to if they makes sense. But I’ve had this phone now for over three years I think and it works well for me - touch wood. Apart from being a waste of money to keep doing this, consumerism is one of the worst things for our planet. So by not over consuming we are saving our bank balance and the planet! ❤

Generally speaking I've found my phones can last a good 5 years before they start to glitch and slow down. It definitely makes a big difference to your bill!

I change my phone when they tell me to! Only two in 20 years! They know more than I do!

Love the KZbin kids craft idea I was thinking about a pottery cafe for a rainy day activity but I just can't justify the spend!

It's crazy expensive isn't it? Last time we did pottery it was £30 and the kids were done in 30 mins!

I got my first smartphone just before the pandemic. It still works just fine. Before that, I had my old 'scruffy' phone for about 12 years, kept using it until it was dead. Problem what?

That's amazing! You'll have saved thousands compared to someone who upgrades annually or bi-annually.

I know I'm going to be hated by saying this, but owning a pet can be a money burner. I'm guilty myself since I have a cat; the food, the time, the medical expenses, the pet insurance premium and deductibles, the cat litter... My cat is quite healthy but still costs me US$800-1000 per year. I'm speaking this purely from a cold, hard financial standpoint without considering the emotional rewards.

@@Baiyoubai I definitely think it’s about priorities as with so many things. It will cost money, but it’s going to bring a lot of joy to our family.

@@TheMummyBubble Absolutely. Life is much more than a bunch of cold, hard numbers, and there are things that well worth spending money on.

It’s one of the reasons we don’t have a pet. Not only are they expensive, our lifestyle is not conducive to having pets. All our money goes to our kids.

@@loveandjoy810 Owning a pet is not a norm in many non-western cultures. Where I grew up, only wealthy people own pets, so it is much more a social status showoff than a need.

I'd rather have a pet than another husband, the outlay is a lot less and the returns are much greater 😉

I would caution on the "do it yourself" - whether this is home repair or hair, you can end up with a costly mess on your hands or even an injury if you don't have the skills necessary. I've been there!

@@charleedell92 I agree there are potential pitfalls. We currently have a leak under the kitchen sink and we’re getting an actual plumber to deal with that. However in other instances where it’s been a simple swap out of an old part for a new one we’ve done it ourselves. With hair I agree the potential for disaster is there, but I’ve managed to find a routine that works ok for me. You definitely need to do your research and it won’t be for everyone
