Most if it I didn't find disturbing mainly because I didn't fully understand it and I didn't have enough life experience to realize it was supposed to be disturbing if that makes sense. Agreed. The only kids show that scared me was Thomas the Tank engine. some of the faces they made were what scared me most. I then , like 15 years later, happened upon a couple of episode i watched years ago, and there was one where an engine was effectively buried alive and forgotten about for years. Honestly I find the most disturbing IZ episode, and one of the most underrated to be "Bad, bad rubber piggy". Basically Zim tries to send a death robot into Dib's past, swapping it with a different object to kill him. However, for an unexplained reason the time portal won't accept the robot. He angrily throws Gir's rubber pig toy into the portal, only to be surprised that the portal accepts it. It replaces a young Dib's tricycle, causing him to crash into at tree and give him brain damage, and the present Dib is actually affected by it, and it's treated as though his brain damage has always been the case. At this point it's a minor condition, but throughout the episode he grows more and more insane because of it, and develops an intense hatred for piggies. Eventually he can barely walk or stand from being so crippled, pounding on Zim's door like a zombie to get in to kill him. Upon delivering what he thinks is the final blow and smugly satisfied with having killed his opponent (Bear in mind, Zim never actually succeeded to kill Dib, and rarely even tried, usually the most he ever did was try to make him brain dead or lock him away somewhere. One would think he'd be a bit shocked considering he more or less has the mentality of a mischievous, intelligent young boy.) However Dib somehow ends up being resurrected into a cyborg, tearing apart Zim's lair. Now he's practically immortal and the rubber pigs can't hurt him anymore, so Zim has one option. Write a message to his past self on one of the piggies and send it back. This results in him replacing his own brain with the rubber pig, turning himself into a vegetable.

There were a few light moments at the start when they were playing with their puppets, unaware of the trap, but once the giant puppet walks into the tower the laughs go away. The guys helpless as their bodies are used to seek, locate and capture their friends, and the girls having to go against their natural instinct because of the vastly different ways their powers work. And this is the only appearance of Puppet King as a main antagonist, with no backstory or known history with the Titans.

I would say, "The Dungeon" episode and the "No One Can Hear You" from Adventure Time creeped me out. Honorable mention would be the "Mortal Folly" where The Lich was introduced. The Dungeon episode is just pretty weird and dark. You can sense Finn's hopelessness and desperation to leave the dungeon. What creeps me out the most is when the supposedly Finn's gurdian angel is going to save him then turns out, she is a monster in disguise who wanted to eat him. For the "No One Can Hear You", it also has dark, weird and eerie atmosphere. That episode is really quiet and the plot is just.. imagine you went to coma for months only to find out that no one was around except your bestfriend who lose sanity. Don't get me started with the part of the stag. Like wtf. Anyway, yeah.. most in this list are creepy af.

I thought i was the only one who found Soos and the real girl SUPER FUCKING CREEPY. even though it's one of my favorite episodes of the series, i refuse to play similation games to some extent. giffany's voice at certain parts definately gave me chills too. i had a fear of things with screens as a kid. i was always scared that powering up a computer would lead to a jumpscare instead of the start up screen. malfunctions and glitches also terrified me. so right off the bat, the game running with the computer not plugged in made the hairs on my arms stand up. however i'm surprised bill cipher wasnt on this list. i'm embarressed about this since i am 20 years old, but the concept of bill cipher makes me scared to go into the dark kitchen at night. the fact that he heavily breaks the fourth wall makes it feel like he's more in contact with the audiance than the characters in the show. that gives him a terrifyingly "real" effect. especially since we see things "illuminati-esque" everywhere. bill having his eyes everywhere ties into the real world because i see triangles with eyes in everything and it makes me feel that bill is in fact, always watching. whether it's something like the illuminati symbol on someone's shirt, or even a dollar bill. the idea of being watched by an all knowing entitiy is horrifying. especially Bill's last words, "my time has come to burn, i invoke the antient power that i may return". implying that he WILL be coming back. regardless of the series's finale.

If anyone remembers Jimmy Neutron, I wanted to add this disturbing scene as at least an honorable mention because to this day it still gets me. It was an episode in which Jimmy and his friends take part in a Space Olympic games and somehow find a shortcut to the finish line. They take the short cut and are teleported to this 'world' where there is nobody on earth (Or at least I think it's earth) and they run into the smoothie shop, only to find their parents as zombies and walk toward the children saying, "Eat and Forget" then the kids falling into a thick pile of darkness, ending the episode there leaving part 2 as the next episode.

I wonder why that one, All Grown Up camping trip episode/movie(?) wasn't on the list cause I remember towards the end when Tommy was showing his friends footage from the trip the tape turned out to be tampered showing these bizarre creepy images and footage of the boy they met at the camping trip either looking possessed or revealing his ghostly form with his eyes glowing, quoting I think Phil and Dill, "Got no brain or nothin" in a creepy voice. I think it was a type of horror special for halloween but not strictly halloween related so I guess it didn't qualify for the list? Whether it qualifies or not it definitely should've been on the list that practically traumatized me as a kid and I never forget that quote because of it.

Also prior to that, the girls were watching some TV show about zombies from what I remember and then a zombie magician start causing havoc in the city and then it makes you believe that he kills the girls especially Blossom until the plot twist happens where they end up being fine. But holy shit I felt quite uncomfortable watching it as a kid and I remember Powerpuff Girls airing at 11pm or somewhere around that time.

However weirdly in this Scooby Doo movie where they go to Australia and then encounters vampires while I wasn't creeped out from that but the music it plays whenever they appear I somehow felt uncomfortable and creeping me out even when I go to sleep, it kept playing in my head a couple of nights, thus me never watching the movie again LOL. I don't find it scary at all, but I do find other cartoons such as the older cartoons like Ren& Stimpy, and even for episodes, spongebob, and other cartoons such as tom and jerry( the older versions whether both tom and jerry committed suicide by sitting on the railroads and waiting for the train to kill them) really terrifying. Especially after I watched abt the truths of certain shows like rugrats, which were based on angelica's imagination, who eventually died in her mother's footsteps by taking an overdosage of drugs, and even like Recess and Codename Kids next door, some episodes were really creepy.

Great choice of credits song. I forgot how much I loved "It's Terror Time Again" as a kid and how great the 90s Scooby Doo movies were. Zombie Island always scared the shit out of me as a kid, that song was always kick ass.

I got to say, this list got me to watch Dan Vs. and after finishing two season, I would definitely say it's not a kids cartoon. I still enjoyed it, but they do say murder, kill, die alot, alot of shut ups and tons of attempts at arson. I still thank you though, because I really enjoyed Dan Vs.

I still think that Zim is the cutest cartoon character I've ever seen. He looks kind of adorable, sounds adorable, and has an awesome laugh. What's not to love? With the exception of that episode, of course... He has an amazing character design, the show's funny, it had an interesting plot, and GIR. Everyone. Loves. GIR.

I love Zim the same reason as you. For some reason I never exactly fell in love with GIR, but I in no way hate GIR. I liked in Dark Harvest when Dib first sees Zim bloated and stuffed with organs, that was funny. "You think you can fool a trained medical professional?" "Yes." Hahaha.

Great list! If you need to find more creepy episodes of kid stuff to review for a list like this, I recommend Charmed from the Little Mermaid show. Ariel finds a charm bracelet and tries to get one of the charms out of some coral but it sucked into a trench with a lot of spooky deep water creatures come after her. It scared the sh*t out of me as a kid.
